Whatever way you decide to give up smoking will be the best way for you. Keep on keeping on trying to quit and use whatever means necessary to help you achieve your goal. Good luck with it!
You do whatever you need to, to stop smoking.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

I know I'm under so much pressure to quite and I so badly want to, it was so much better when I didn't smoke for 3 years and would give anything to get back to that place again.
I know I'm very hard on myself to
Really appreaciate you taking the time to reply to me.

I suffer to. If it helps you any I gave up one week before I was bedridden with a bad back. Thankfully as craving and bedridden would have been tooooooooo much to cope with.
Instead of thinking about giving up, just try to do ONE DAY, and when you get to the end of that day try another.
A friend of mine had to go in for a stomach bybass and he was told he had to lose two stone before he could have the op and it sent him crazy, it had the opposite effect and he wanted to eat more so I know how difficult it is with an ultimatum. He finally got there but he was a year longer than he should have been.
Just get through the first day

Totally agree that places and times in certain weather can trigger a craving. Last night, long drive, wanted fag  twas habbit though. Nice weather, sat outside, wanted fag  twas habbit though.
underpressure sorry you had a bad weekend, at least you didn't cave though so well done:T

Try setting youself some mini goals that you know are achievable - not everyone can just stop & that doesn't make you a failure or mean there's something wrong - it just means you have to be a bit more canny and take it slowly.
lots of luck - and keep in touch
reallymust get to bed up at 6.30am and have a 14 hour day tomorrow:(

Thanks, will try being kinder to myself. Not got many left of the 20 I bought last night and really want to make them my last.

Having read this extremely supportive thread for a few days, I was about to stop lurking and start posting when I thought I'd mistakenly popped up in discussion time!
Anyway I'm seeking support and some words of encouragement as I yet again try to rid myself of a nearly constant companion of the last 40 years. I've tried various methods in the past with varying amounts of success but always slipped back/ found excuses.
I plan this to be my final attempt and about to toddle off to the chemist to pick up my Champix.
Wish me luck and willpower as I start the journey towards becoming a non smoker please

I am glad I did not give in over the weekend, I now know for sure me and cigarettes are history, I am not even going to allow myself to put myself through the "bad pantomime" anymore

Keep posting and keep trying.
The thread will sort itself out, as I said, it's absolutely nothing to do with you.
How did you stay off them for 3 years and why did you go back?
