    Hi Team.

Well with me being an infrequent visitor these days, it's always good to pop back nad see new people taking up the challange as well as the same wise heads doing their best to support and perpetuate dreams into reality. :A

I come bearing News, as per the post title.

    :jI MADE IT A YEAR:j

    :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

This was my initial target and feel really proud that I have acheived it.

Have I earned the right to gloat? Your dam Right!:rotfl:

Now for the mandatory words of wisdom.

    Determination, Fight, Willingness and Strength.

    Most importantly SELF BELIEF.

    It really is possible.

All with no gimics or tools, from someone who used to smoke deadly amounts of drugs, never mind cigarettes.

It can be done. I have done it and will never look back.

I don't want a pat on the back either, or posts praising my acheivement. I want you to acheive the same thing. That is the best way to congratulate me. Take my words and use them.:D

If one person comes back in a years time and says that this post inspired them, that is enough for me.:T

    All the best,

    Daz.
Was in debt £23k- Not now (12/07-12/10):T
Did smoke- Not any more (26-02-11):j
I am not perfect but everyone loves a trier don't they??:A

Yay my new e-cig (my girlie one) came today ;D

Don't worry about the scare stories about the guy with the exploding e-cig....

Judging my what I've read on a reliable forum it was probably one of two things and or abuse - stacking small batteries (praise God I've never done that) or like abuse (over charging, dropping etc)...

Reality is Lithium Ion batteries are dangerous but then they are in lots of things these days. your mobile; your laptop; etc etc....anything almost - even your camera... So why worry? Just take care....

So yeah.....I'm not into creating trouble but I will stand up for e-cigs cos they get such a bad press by folk that have no idea what they are talking about. How many people are hooked on other NRT like the gum etc? Yet no one condemns them...

Now me? I've reduced my concentration from 36mg/ml (which I needed in the beginning) to now 24mg/ml. I don't know when I shall be off the nicotine but I reckon it should be way less than 2 years :D So why worry? I figure the slow horse wins the race...

  • I turn my back for a minute and everyone starts squabbling

I think you're doing a great job Sue-UU, and certainly don't believe that you've been intentionally off-hand, and certainly not slanderous.

I enjoy this thread for it's good camaraderie and general support. I read Sue's posts as guidance as to where posters might get that best specific advise, and that she was not 'casting them out' to other parts of the forum.

I like to think that sometimes things can be misinterpreted on forums, and often read some posts more than once just to make sure that I'm not getting the wrong end of the stick.

Big {{hugs}} to everyone and hope that everyones quest to be smoke-free continues on the right course
  • What absolute rubbish, the OP was asking about giving up smoking and saying he was going to use an e-cig. Should there be separate threads for folks using patches or gum etc, they contain nicotine as well.

Upset the Queen Bee, heaven forbid, it's an open forum, stop being so sanctimonious

    No need for name calling.

I think this is your answer Sue.
Anyone can post anywhere as it's a public forum

Yes, Andrea also says they can start another thread but as there is an e-cigarette thread which Sue has rightly linked to for help when using an e-cigarette. Being a public forum doesn't give anyone the right to name call.

    Sue please help me...

Please can you refrain from using slander and insults about my nicotine reduction device......

The reality is e-cigs when used properly are not dangerous and there are lots of us (to the point of putting your nose out as you felt threatened - sorry) on here who know about e-cigs so that's no reason why someone wanting to use e-cigs to control their nicotine addiction shouldn't come on here

There are also 101 other things in cigs besides nic that makes them addictive. Nicotine itself is comparitively low in the terms of addiction...

One man's saviour, another's curse. The reality is for me personally I'd tried all your methods and failed (after a short time. Like less than a day) and that wasn't anything to do with cravings but more chemicals in my brain. I don't wish to experience that again...

Some folk benefit from your style Sue. I personally don't. ...Doesn't mean we can't all sit on here in harmony towards our common goal...

But please don't say untruths about e-cigs and vapers....that really upsets me...

And I'm sorry for shouting at you yesterday on here...Should have put it slightly more graciously..
    E

I do hope you have reported any posts you consider are slander, you'll find the report button on each post. I have reported a few posts on this thread as being insulting, if you have a problem with my reporting posts then please contact the Forum Team, the email is in my signature.

Wonderful news today in the 1950s 4 out of 5 adults smoked in the UK. Stats released today only 1 out of 5 adults smoke in the UK. A fantastic turn around but it can get better because they didn’t know I stopped smoking 155 days ago.

  • Just popping in to say to Needstochange and the-brink, welcome to FREEDOM:j

Not forgetting all the other non-smokers, of course. The support you are giving to each other is invaluable but then this thread does have a kind of magic to it.

So pleased to see you shadydaz. You may not want praise but you are getting it. You have come a long way and are an inspiration to those at the beginning of their journey and the many who follow the thread, waiting for the right moment to take the leap.

Many thanks, Sue. See you around :)
In the meantime, I leave record of my successful attempt to reduce using patches - which dragged me down from 50/day to 15/day - proof that they do work for that, at least.
I would like to thank Sue for all the Sterling work she's doing on this forum to help, encourage and work with others in their fight against this dreadful, filthy addiction and wish her good health and the power to carry on the fight.

Farzackerly, what made you want to try an e-cig, you haven't mentioned anything about it before now?
