My new e-cig arrived today - just a cheapy from HK, but by'eck it works quite well.
I've no intention of substituting one habit for another, so will wean myself off the nicotine over the next couple of months by going down in juice strength.
My fag consumption has remained steady at 15/day since Jan 1st (a third of what it was) - today it was less than 10. I'll be starting afresh tomorrow with only the e-cig to see how it goes.0 -
Look forward to seeing you on the other thread Farzackery!
Thank you for posting the link Sue!0 -
You're welcome, karmacookie, and I'll gladly pass them on asap, promise!

Had a rotten cold today but still smoking as much to make sure that I have some really unpleasant memories of the taste and feeling.
Everyone I know pretty much now is aware of my goal even a couple of people at work who are just dying to see me fail so that in itself is enough to keep going to spite them :rotfl:
Well done Needtochange, that's the stance to take with people like that!Im taking the leap into packing up the smokes on wednesday 29th Feb so count me in i am going to use nicotine nasal spray for the first couple of weeks then go onto gum 4mg i have plenty of things to keep me busy will stock up on fruit to munch and drink plenty of water i have the quit pack from the chemist i gave up once before for 2 years and started again then gave up again for 1 year and started so this is third time lucky TO GIVE UP FOR GOOD with a little help from the threads and a lot of staying power WE CAN BEAT THIS
A very warm welcome to the thread, thebrink! I really do hope THIS TIME will be YOUR TIME to not buckle after having stopped for so long! You almost prove to yourself that you can do this, then no doubt, it's just one silly moment that starts you on that awful road again! Is it you thinking that "just one puff/one cig won't hurt" or do you know of another reason that makes you start it all up again??
If you do then tell us what it is or what you think it is, then be prepared to come back here and let us help you through it and stay strong this time round!!! With all the risks involved it really isn't worth you letting old Nic keep bringing you back to square one as one day it may not be so easy to begin another quit. THIS TIME, thebrink, for your sake and for your LIFE!!! :grinheart
All the very best.
Sue xNeedstochange wrote: »Hey thebrink  that will make us stopping buddies :T are you ready? I am pretty confident I am but the voice in head will need some handling I think
Good luck and see you on the other side
A darned good idea, NTC as it'll help you both as you go through your quitting journeys. Don't listen to the voice in your head your own voice will be you becoming a little apprehensive, it's always worse than the actual event so look ahead to it calmly. Tother voice - that's old Nick - take no notice of him and use your imagination to floor the b
!!!! Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your lives!!! :j What a terrific and very beautiful thought!!!

That's right PIC, you tell her!!Be careful of PIC, NTC, she can be quite firm at times!
A thousand thank yous, Chrissie!!!! :TOk, one then.
Though not everyone is getting the message, maybe they're Underpressure??!!!! Still, perhaps today will see them do it...
All the very best with a quick sale, Chrissie, whoever buys it will have a lovely clean, fresh home. What a really wonderful County to live in!!
Could everyone please kindly pop your time gone (free from actual fags) and the means used on your Title Bars? It's not just for me, though it does help, but to help us all in knowing....others watching in too; it helps them decide what they think's best for them.

Ahhhh, so very many thanks, Underpressure! No need to have done the others though, just the latest. I can understand the forgetfulness and, to be honest, had to pop back on and put mine on! Though I don't do mine too much as I'd hate folk to think I was bragging.
Very well done indeed, on having done brilliantly!! Some sound advise you gave to thebrink too.
Keep up your GREAT work!

Hello everyone,
I just thought I would stop by for the first time to say good luck to all of you who have decided to stub it out once and for all. It will be the best decision you will ever make for your health and for your pocket. And for all of you that are have just give them up....well done! :T
I gave them up on 17th November 2010 (my birthday) using patches which last for 4 weeks and then I went cold turkey. I have to admit it was not easy but in March 2011 I took up running. And I know I would not be able to smoke and run at the same time so something had to give....I choose to run!
Hugs

Just had to pop on because tomorrow is the BIG DAY for Needstochange and now thebrink. I want to say that I will thinking of you all day. Take that leap! As :ASue-UU:A said - it the first day of the rest of your life.
It is freedom.
Freedom to take more than a three hour flight without climbing the walls - or resorting to heavy sedation.:o
Never again will you have to shy away from contact with others for fear they may flinch from the stink.
Never agin will you have to stand in the freezing cold just to feed the habit.
Never again, on social occasions, will you have to wonder how you are going to get your fix.
Never again will you wish the meal would finish so you can slip outside.
Stuck there - anymore, folks? I am a prime example of how easy it is to forget what it was like to be a smoker. I was a secret smoker - in that, only my family ever saw me smoke but I bet others could smell it. Who was I fooling? Only myself.
Look at the leap Eddie is taking - brave man.:D Wonder who talked him into that.**********
Not forgetting everyone else - the gang - you are inspirational.
