Hi all,

Happy tuesday all!!0 -
Very good indeed, jacci. So good to hear about your Son and I hope he's soon free from all pain and discomfort. Be sure to explain to the ward that you've recently stopped smoking and you're sure you're suffering the after effects of that; that way they may be more inclined to allow the op to go ahead. All the very best with the op and get well soon! I've just seen your wonderful ZERO!!!!!!!!! Splendid news!!!! :j

Terrific news, Flis!!! I'm positive it was just your Ex that rocked the boat a bit for you as he still smokes; you were possibly a little bit concerned that it might set you back. All best wishes, you're doing wonderfully well, so be proud!!!

Hi Spicy and congratulations on reaching that first HUGE milestone!!!!! :T:T You've come all that way and all down to the book, willpower and determination - great news!!!!! Don't worry too much about socialising for now, let yourself get more used to not smoking before very gradually introducing yourself to smokers. Maybe deliberately 'popping to see one' for 10 - 20 minutes first, then if that's ok extend the number to test it again. Just not too many at once and fix a time to leave...or if they come to you - chuck them out after the first fag!!!!! :rotfl:Always be ready with the "I don't smoke anymore" or better still "I've quit fags!" You'll possibly impress them and maybe even encourage them (or even one) to try!
Always carry a bunch of keys or a flexible rubber (possibly the rubber from the end of a pencil, so it's not too hard) in your pocket to fiddle with..anything like that so you are doing something with your fingers. Also, before you go anywhere like that pop into a Pharmacy and buy a bottle of "Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy" to have some of to relax you first - marvellous stuff and totally natural. It's such a rotten shame you have no support at home as my DH & youngsters got such a buzz from encouraging me ~ BUT ~ you do, as you say, have us whereas we didn't have a PC then and I hadn't much idea about AC and the "Easy way". Ahh, we love you Spicy and won't rest until your 1st year is through, that's the critical time when you're going through all the normal events of a year without one, once you've done so, you can pretty much consider yourself as having QUIT proper!!!! It may sound a long time now, but as "Kiwisaver" (previous page) and I will tell you...it goes by so fast!!
We're here for you, Spicy all the way through! :kisses3:

thanks Sue your post makes me smile, as always
I am feeling a bit depressed really regarding the support at home. All Dh says is I knew you could do it anyway and the girls, dd1 is nearly 9 and kept saying about me stopping but ever since I have hasn't said anything so don't know what she thinks of it all. My smoking friend asked how its all going and always says how well I am doing etc.. her OH doesn't really notice or take in stuff like that and just said 'oh is spicy still not smoking' which is kind of the attitude my family (mum, dad, sister) are taking. It's a bit like they are all waiting (apart from smoking friend) for me to start smoking again. That is it, I don't see anyone else.
I even thought about texting them today with ' I thought I would just let you know I have been a non smoker for 1 week'. BUt don't really see the point they are not interested. I went round the friends today and felt ok had lots of stuff to talk about so wasn't noticing them smoking.
Dr Bachs stuff sound interesting, I shall have to have a look next time I pop to the shops.
I can't remember the name of the poster saying about their OH smelling/ tasting like an ashtray but they made me laugh as it is totally true lol and to think we were like that once hehe
Thanks again Sue x0 -
That's rotten spicey, though if they've never smoked then that, I suspect, is the problem, they've absolutely no idea what quitting involves. Obviously your DD hasn't a clue what it all entails, bless her, but all the others should have an idea at least as enough has been broadcast on TV over the years.
Your smoking friend/s are the ones who understand best, though it's amazing what folk here have encountered with them in the past as all too often they too want them to fail so they (the so called friends) don't feel guilty at not having stopped themselves!
I'd keep the texts for a lot further down the line or everyone will be watching you like a hawk just waiting!!! You know you're strong and are doing a TERRIFIC job and so do all of us here, for now we'll keep your superb secret as we understand you best of all, for now at least. Say nowt and you've nowt to live up to - apart from that it's your business!!! Not that I'm telling you what to do...I wouldn't dream of it.
There's no specific person on here who has remarked about their smoking loved ones or friends smelling/tasting something awful of stale fags - it's ALL of us - and we used to be the same!!!!!!!!
Onward Spicy!

Well went and did some shopping after SW - don't ask
and didn't even consider buying any cigarettes. Didn't make it to Stop Smoking Clinic as when getting ready to go was hit by a headache, by time painkillers kicked in was time for SW. Was only going to go to see the zero again, but at this moment I don't need that re-enforcement and thanks to Lotus-Eater a I am now using my e-cigarette properly have cut down right down on usage which means I am at last cutting down on costs and saving - well will be as ones I have will now last me twice as long.
Last night I managed to slice right into top of left index finger and normally after I had sorted out things like that I would have sat and smoked and smoked, but didn't even consider asking hubby to go and buy some. Just driving me nuts trying to type I keep using it and hitting wrong keys as had to put butterfly stitches and thick dressing on as rather deep.
I know eventually I will have to consider coming off the e-cigarettes but will worry about that when I am sure I would not want a cigarette as I don't want to be on them forever. My sister and her husband gave up smoking 6 years ago after he had a heart attack age 45 and they went onto the Nicorette chewing gum and are now hooked on that with them getting through 3- 4 packs a week and costs them a fortune, they are using more and more as time goes by. My aim is to save money.
So another day gone by, be nice when I can say its a week:)Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Hi everyone,
Just checking in to say hi and catch up: I'm up to 3 weeks and 3 days and still going strong! DH is up to 1 week too.
My thingummy that keeps count for me lets me know that I have saved about £80.00  Not entirely sure where this money actually has gone, but that's a different matter!
Hope everyones having a good week - off to read back through the last few pages.I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Hi all,
It sounds like everyone here is doing extremely well, keep up the great work!! :T
It's over 2 weeks for me now and so thrilled to get here. So far, I have £78.50 in my 'Cash Not Ash' pot for when I treat myself further down the line.
I've got to say that following everyones progress here is so encourging.
I'm not missing my clothes stinking and hating the rank smell when I walk into an ash cloud - especially those poor sods hanging by a tube station, in the freezing cold, sucking the last bits of their fags as if it's their last gasps of air until they surface again. To think that I use to do that myself
Have a smoke-free Wednesday peeps!
