Hi all, well not only am I having an op on Weds but my 20 yr old son will have one soon as well for a double fractured cheek bone.....he tried to stop a fight and came out of it worse than anyone else.I will be honest I have had totally enough at the mo and could just sit and cry but still dont want a fag!!I feel sick with worry and all the rest of it but I know the ciggies wouldnt make me feel better. It would be too easy to have one to make me feel better but at times like this Im bound to feel rubbish and just have to get through it.
I hope everyone else is having a much better weekend...0 -
Jacci45 sending love and hugs to both you and your son ( my oldest had his cheekbones cracked by school bully - parents used to buy something for school whenever he did something, that was till he did it to my son, exit one bully, and this I will say was not your local primary but a semi private school. I will never forget headmistresses face when she asked me if I told the hospital where it happened and I said of course, she expected me to say at home or he fell off his bike or something like that, anything to keep name of school clean) anyway I digress down memory lane, am hoping your son will heal as well as mine, doctor told me that his cheekbones would heal stronger than before and he has never had any problems since and that was 21 years ago. Wishing you all the best for your op and you are doing fantastic all this stress and still a non smoker, wonderful.
Crazymum no drink or cigarettes that is fantastic, I don't think I could do two things like that I have enough trouble sticking to my SW eating plan and not smoking but at least I can still eat. I never had a great taste for drink so never been a problem but I know most people enjoy a drink and it must be very hard not to have one when friends do.
Well 4 days gone and still sucking on my dummy aka electronic cigarette. Chest is still heavy and burning a bit but already am antibiotics for something else which I got two weeks ago and kept forgetting to take so taking them now to ward off any infection as have runny nose and feel a bit blah as is hubby. Dosed us both up and at least no cigarette smoke to pull us down, cough coming along nicely, urg:rotfl::rotfl: Going to try and sleep
Tomorrow another day to face as a non smokerNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Just told hubby how today finding it hard and he is no help, telling me well I cannot expect to give up straight away as smoked so long and I said but I have actually given up as not smoked 4 days but he said but you haven't as you still want one, so not much hope of me changing my mind about feeling I am still a smoker with him feeling the same. Also he said we will really see when we next go shopping and you don't buy any then,he has no faith in me at all.
You've done wonders, but it does worry me a little that you say your e-cig isn't giving you enough relief.
An e-cig should do better than that.
It depends how you want to play it. If you want to give up nicotine totally, then carry on as you are (and you are doing brilliantly), if you are struggling too much, a better e-cig may help alot with the craving.
Compared to the rest of the stuff you get from a cigarette, nicotine is not that bad at all.
An e-cig will only give you nicotine and none of the other nasties. But it will help with the hand to mouth habit and should hopefully satisfy you enough to not worry about real fags.
I don't know which e-cig you've got, but I'm presuming you have one of the ones got from a pharmacy or a supermarket.
These are ok to find out if you can get on with the concept, but not ok to fill the void totally by cigs for alot of people.
If you feel you want to get a better e-cig, which may help you get off real fags (if you can't do it without), then you can pm me.
I will recommend a forum and can point you towards something better.

Oh crazymum, you're doing just amazingly and are such an inspiration to all those using this thread...and all those watching it and believe me, they are many! You are proving what is so true, that drinking and smoking so often go hand in hand, but that the habits can be broken!!!! I love this bit <<<"I feel like I'm walking into my new life">>> and you are!! :j Be so very, very proud of all you've achieved so far, crazymum, that is yours which you have done all by yourself and is there as the platform to build on and I've no doubt that you will as you love the life you're now living!!!!! Ready to chalk another great day up??! :grinheart

Woooo-haaaay Flis!!!! That was a day brilliantly carried out and you've done all I hoped for, to not allow him to influence you and instead to prove how much you want this and are determined to get it!!!!! Normally I suggest people keep away from chocolate, but to read the Minstrels part made me smile - you earned those for sure!!!! Your posts are always so positive and a joy to read as you're so very determined to see this through and I couldn't be more happy for you. Thanks so much for that, Flis, you're a star!!!! :T :staradmin:T

Terrific news, salduck!!! :T:T It's difficult when people come on telling us what their intentions are, but then when they don't come back for a while you wonder if they're battling away or have they fallen on the wayside. A short post such as yours above is just the job and lets us know the score without delving too deeply. I know some people do better by not coming on the thread and talking about it, that's fine and I respect that, but just a quick post now and again is great!!! You're doing so very well and resisting all temptations so I hope you're feeling about 10 feet tall!! Marvellous news about losing 5 ks too!!!!

Oh jacci, I'm so terribly sorry to hear your news, your poor lad must be in a lot of pain..and all for trying to help others too! Try not to worry about him too much, and if you feel like a cry then please give way to your feelings as it's nature's way of helping us through such times. Try to also not be too concerned about your op, it's obviously better for you that it's done so try to look beyond then and think about you both recovering. Meantime if you need to talk you're welcome to PM me, but only IF you wish to. If you get to screaming point...use a pillow and scream into it so the noise is completely absorbed, but you're helping vent your feelings. All very best wishes for you for Wednesday and your dear lad too. Well done on the ciggie front jacci!!! :T:T

That is so much more positive prepareathome I have to echo crazymum's words, positive thinking indeed which you should be extremely proud of!!! :grinheart You've come a long way already. It sounds like the chest is working well, you be sure to get rid of everything (!!) and you'll soon be feeling really good about yourself. We are all behind you and backing you all the way, so be strong, be proud, focus your mind and - keep sucking!
Below is the link to the silkquit meter which keeps track of how many cigs you haven't smoked, how much money you've saved and much more and really spurs folk on.

Hello all. I had my last cigarette on Friday at about 16:45 and have been using the Nicorette inhalator since. Not finding it too har at the moment just having to get rid of old habits like having set times at work I used to pop outside or after tea etc when I always have one.
My main reason for giving up is money (I know it should be my health but it's not) we want to get married next year and £1000 is a big chunk of the money we will need and I really don't think I can ask my fiance to scrimp and save when I'm literally burning money.
Hope everyone is doing well!0 -
Hey all,
Firstly a congrats to jaqqi and flis for sticking with it since my last visit..
Havent been on for a week, rather embarrasingly stubbed my toe on a hoover in the hallway and have been unable to walk for a week so was off work (which is usually when i come on here). luckily not fractured but very severly bruised. either way, im back now and thought id drop in..
Day 25 now, really feeling positive about quitting, perhaps on of the best things i have ever done. dont get me wrong, i still have moments but admittedly they are routine (like after dinner etc) and not nicotine cravings. i havent used the e-cig for over a week either as it broke, but just proved i didnt need it in the end lol.
My biggest change recently appears to be my utter disgust for the smell of tobacco, not only can i smell it a mile off, but it truely turns my stomach now.. this comes much to the detriment of my GF who despite all of her good efforts in cutting down, now has to brush her teeth or eat mints before i can snuggle up with her. (not sure if anyone here has had this and can advise as to whether it lasts? I actually feel sorry for her, and it wasnt easy telling her..).
For those who knew i started a diet too, well i lost 3kilos in my first full weekvery happy, though i know itll get harder and harder to lose, but i am half way to my first target so cant complain..
Keep it up everybody!0 -

well done trinity,
yes, the routine was harder than the withdrawal for me, but i am a creature of habit lol.
you will soon notice the financial difference and it is soo rewarding.. its been 25 days for me now, and ive worked out ive already saved £150+ i cant tell you how much good that makes both me and my bank manager feel
Stick with it and best of luck, dont give in!0 -
Thanks Sue, your words and support are such a help.
Thanks also to Lotus as now thanks to how use to use e cigarette properly has already made my experience with them better and at this moment in time I am finding I am enjoying using it far more than I had smoking in quite a few years. Ok still getting my nicotine hit, but I will address that further on down the line, at the moment just glad I am not finding I want a cigarette today at all, just want to 'vape'. I have the inhalator's and I plan to start alternating between them and e cigarette either later this week or next at latest to try to stop me becoming totally hooked on them, and they will save me money as at moment its actually costing me a bit more using the e cigarette I had chosen, although now thanks to Lotus am learning about the alternatives that are cheaper. I have a prepaid prescription certificate so inhalator's from stop smoking clinic are basically free, but the e cigarette has certainly stopped me giving in as I have done in the past - been to stop smoking clinic about 5 times in past 3 years got patches, inhalator's etc and never actually stopped, cut down yes as far as 5 a day but never fully stopped.
I know its very early days but I have never felt so positive about not smoking either.
Thank you every one
