Just a quick one from me, I'm now coming to the end of my 12th day without a cigarette. Huzzah!!
Keep it up everybody, it's really motivating to be able to pop into this thread!Aiming for that elusive 'debt free' by Christmas 2012

Please PIC, don't weaken and give into Nic! You really will hate yourself if you give into it now. You'll want to start it all over again..if not now..then soon enough! You have problems now, but just one puff or one fag - or more wll not help it, it will just worsen it by the stress that nicotine brings.

Fantastic news, Amy!!! I know that right now it's hard for you,but you're still gong on with it as it's obviously what you really want - to completely give up - to quit!!! DON'T DO IT, PLEASE!!!!
{{{hugs}}} Sue x
It's wonderful to hear how you're feeling now, crazymum, how your life is changing too. I'm sure you'll be inspiring so many others in your double journey. You should be overflowing with pride as you're doing great!

No one's forcing prepareathome to leave at all and you know it, I merely advised her to come to the "E-thread" just as you asked me to a couple or more weeks ago as I thought someone there would/should be able to help her more. I don't know what effects this type of smoking can have on her or anyone elses health.greene1960 wrote:I know Sue doesn't want to learn more about the e-cig
That isn't the case at all, greene, it's simply that I just do NOT have the time to learn fully about it which I'd need to if I was to give people correct advice about that, CT and other forms of NRT. I have another thread that I run, I'm a housewife and have an illness and am unable to give more time.
I did, what I considered the right thing earlier by going to the E-cig thread you gave me the link to, look at the problems on there alone and how it's admitted there that so much is not known about e-cigs!!
I support and help people on this thread as much as I can about CT and NRTs, but if you and Lotus are going to come here and take over this thread encouraging people to use your type of E-cigs then I'm prepared to go. This and the previous 2 threads have always been harmonious, why do you appear to seek to spoil things?

I'm far from taking over this thread, I don't know how to get this through to you - it's a support thread for people who are quitting smoking which is what I am doing. You've made me feel like a leper on here, unworthy of support because of my method of giving up which is the most successful way I've ever tried. I'm not trying to spoil things, I'm trying to help people to quit smoking in whatever way they choose, without judgement. I would never encourage anyone who has quit cigarettes in their own way to pick up an e-cig, ever. If someone smokes cigarettes though and feels they can't quit with other methods, then I would recommend one any day of the week because it is harm reduction and could save your life/health. That is all I am trying to say.
The point of this thread is to stop smoking - that is all! No more, no less and you may want to look down your nose at me for the way I am choosing to do things but it's working for me and I haven't picked up a cigarette in over 3 weeks, my health is improving in a way that I can truly feel and this is the best I've felt in ages.
Apologies to anyone who's sick to death of reading this but I feel really strongly that all methods are valid and you do whatever you've got to, to make sure that you stop smoking.11th Heaven prizes Number 103

No more, no less.
I really don't want to spoil anything, if 2 people from this thread pm me and tell me to get lost, I will.
But at the moment, I've had 4 people in the last week pm me for more information, only one has posted on this thread. So people are looking for more information and that's all I'm trying to give.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Dr Hilary Jones did a spot on daytime tv a while ago about e-cigs, which is interesting watching to anyone who has any interest in them.

I think This morning did a bit about them too, if I remember right, the Dr was showing people how to use it? It must have been last week as I remember thinking 'why is there so much talk of smoking!' :rotfl:0 -
I personally won't use any NRT but that is my choice. I like the fact that I can come on this thread and get the support I need from you lot and I can support too. I also like the fact that there are people here that are using the same method as me and that way we can compare or say something like ' refer to this part of the book...' (if that makes sense? told you I'm not very good at this hehe)
It must be great for other method users too, it is good to get to talk to people who are using the same method.
Lotus, I don't think you are taking over at all, as far as I have seen you are letting people know as soon as they get on here and say they are using the ecig, that if they need help or advise to pm you? (please remember I haven't been on this thread for long!)

That's basically what I have been trying to do. I hope we can all get along in the same place, after all, we're all after the same thing, to stop people smoking.
I know to me, stopping smoking was one of the best things I've ever done, I'm still so chuffed, 5 months down the line, I'd just like to help others do the same, no matter what methods they use.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
As a reformed alcoholic and ex smoker I come on here for the wonderful, beautiful positive comments. I have 6 children, a busy life and rely on this website to keep going with my walk - it has enabled me to change my life.
Sue has welcomed me, filled me with positivity, warmth, compassion and given me the ability to believe in myself so that I can stop smoking and stay stopped.
Lotus eater - I don't know you, you didn't welcome me to this thread, you havn't given me the strength to keep walking, the smile at the end of the day to keep me going....
I can understand that some people might want e cigs to allow them to stop smoking - however an addiction to nicotene is a pointless one, nicotene gives us absolutely nothing in life, so I would presume that the ultimate goal is to get rid of it.
Perhaps you could start your own thread Lotus Eater so that people can come and find you if they want to. You seem to bring so much negativity to this thread - perhaps it isn't your intention but it is what is happening.
I apologise if I am speaking out of turn. I don't like confrontation, I just feel the need to speak up for Sue because she has been just so lovely and supportive - and people like that don't come along too often.0 -

Just want to say that I have tried to give up smoking for a number of years, used hypnotherapy, acupuncture, cold turkey and NRT in all its shapes and forms, none of these methods have helped me.
2 weeks ago I decided to give e-cigs a go, got myself a small e-cig that was on special offer and since then have not looked back, so much so I decided to buy a kit that was a bit more substantial.
Since then I have not felt the need to buy any cigarettes, I can vape and enjoy the small amount of nicotine. My long term plan is to reduce the amount of nicotine in the liquid to zero, it may take months, but I will get there.
I feel a lot healthier, my breathing is improving, my clothes, hair & home smell fresh and I'm happy in myself.
Not saying that e-cigs are for everybody just as NRT does not work for everybody, at the end of the day its the not smoking cigarettes what countstotal airhead, total bimbo, very superficial:D0
