  • I haven't a clue what has happened and am tired so have gone back a few pages but haven't really worked it out although I reckon there could be some "lost in translation" at work here, as in it's hard to gauge someone's tone and the real meaning of what they say in texts. I don't know, but Sue has been very very helpful to me and really motivated me not to smoke, I wasn't going cold turkey either and have never been made to feel as if I am *unworthy* of this thread for it either!!!! I am CT now as it just turned out that I didn't use the NRT much. I think, in the nicest possible way, if you are new here and don't like something maybe start your own thread? Not because you are being "forced" out, but if you don't like a clearly well established and thrivingf thread because it doesn't suit you, it just makes far more sense to make your own does it not?! That way you are in charge. if you don't like this thread or the people on it, why would you want to stay anyway?!

In other news, today is my day 19. Going strong, very rarely think of cigs now although i did earlier when the little one was refusing to sleep, but it's definitely not even a daily thing any more which is great :) everything is better, bank balance, clothes and hair don't stink, i feel healthier....it's all good and I again want to say thanks specifically to SUE because she has helped me no end.

Wow!! You are one hell of a piece of work, who gave you permission to dictate who can or cannot post on this thread? I thought this thread was for people giving up smoking, this is what I am trying to do just like everyone else on here, how I do it is no concern of yours. Stop your scaremongering about e-cigs, you admit that you dont want to know about them, so stop slamming those who do use them! I'm more frightened for people who rely on self-help books, the only people they help are the authors!

To tell you the truth, I wont post on this thread anymore now I know there are sanctamonious people like you on this board.

I've said my piece now I'm out of here!

I don't think sanctimonious or dictating, I think genuinely upset by the way this thread seems to have turned recently and a little unsure of exactly why it's happened to be honest.
But hey, you won't read this cos you're not coming back!

    Hi Sue & others,

Really sorry that you have got so upset about the mention of e-cigs :( But just don't understand why as they have helped so many folks where everything else has failed for them. Surely, these days, info about them should be include in any threads about giving up smoking? Especially on a money saving forum :)

I used to smoke over 50 a day & in the past tried everything but just ended up crawling up the wall & tearing my hair out till I bought my first e-cig over 3 & a half years ago. Since that first e-cig, I've wanted to tell the world about them & I'm sure that's how others posting here about them feel. They aren't trying to take anything away from your excellent help & advice, just adding something to it :)

Sue, if you or others want to know more about them, so you feel happier about them being mentioned, please feel free to PM me & I'll be more than happy to help as much as possible :) Above all though, surely there is no need to feel stressed about folks mentioning something that has helped them find an alternative to smoking?

Come on everyone, we can all work together with helping everyone, no matter what method they use :)

There's no need or reason is there for anyone to be stressed and or upset surely?

Different methods work for different people and no one is detracting from Sue's input . . . but there are also other options available to smokers, that would not only provide them with a healthier lifestyle, but also save them money.

I'm coming up to my two year anniversary of not smoking cigarettes, all thanks to ecigs . . . they succeeded where NRT and the like failed.

An open mind would surely be a good thing. :)

I can't help feeling that somewhere along the line, for whatever reason, the wrong impression has been given about ecigs . . . this has now lead to the current unhappy situation on this thread with posters falling out and getting upset. :(

It would be a huge shame to my way of thinking, if differences couldn't be consigned to the past and we could maybe work together as Issac has said, in helping smokers who have difficulty in giving up cigarette smoking, find another healthier and less costly alternative for them, whatever that method might be.

I sincerely hope we can . . . life is too short & precious for such bad feeling to ruin the potential of what we could together achieve. :)

Day 13 - patches and inhalator.

    Hey all,

Just wanted to pop in and say I'm still going well. Using inhalator less and less. Went to clinic yesterday and apparently if I stay quit for 4 weeks I get a £20 tesco voucher (on top of the £20 I'm due to get for referring my friend. Was really chuffed about that as I had no idea!! £40 at Tesco is a week's food shop for me. I'm loving seeing my stats as well £57.56 saved now!!

Keep going all, we can do it!

I just couldn't let this go. This is what Sue wrote.

I'm not sure why you viewed my response to you as me possibly making you feel unwelcome here as, no matter what the individual choice to use to quit is, it's the choice of the individual and what's best for them - but it most certainly does not mean they're not welcome to get full use from this thread while they're each quitting. I'd be one of the first to welcome anyone on the thread, in fact it does my heart good to see another member joining us, and hope they too will do what they set out to do and quit smoking altogeter.
You're as welcome as everyone else on here, erme - and NO - ONE would ever think of bullying you or being nasty in any way! It's not in the nature of those who help on here to do so and we have never had once instance of it!!

Is this what has been happening? It's the choice of the individual? Full use of the thread?
Or has Sue threatened to walk if I continue to offer bland advice on this thread to pm me if you want any more info?
I haven't posted one bad thing about anyone, have done nothing but be nice and helpful to those that want it, yet seemingly still get lambasted for it by some people. For nothing it seems.

Thankyou Spicy for your kind words, I don't see the problem either.

  • Wow. Still not really understanding why people are here if they don't find it supportive. It's the internet, nobody is forcing anyone to stay. if you don't feel you are getting the help and support you want/need, make your own thread or find somewhere else to get it. I literally do not understand why it's such a huge issue. This isn't the only stop smoking thread in the world. You are all more than welcome to create your own thread if you so wish. Go to another site if you wish etc etc, as are the rest of us. You don't have to be here, so once you have said your piece rather than hanging around and dragging it out, why don't you just go?! Antagonisation on internet threads, I hate it!

I don't need to create another thread, I have no problem with being here, it's other people (Sue) who have a problem with me being here.

Sue does a great job, but seems to have a blind spot about e-cigs for some reason. Which is why she's told me to go away and then threatens to walk if I don't.

So if I don't have a problem and if it's OK with you then, I'll continue to offer the same advice as I have before. In a continuing polite and friendly manner, which if you look back at all my previous posts, I have always been.
