The Giving Up Smoking Thread - Part 3

Hi everyone
I think it's time to draw a line under this issue and get back to what you guys are trying to focus on.
The forum is what you make it. If e-cig users would like to start another thread about it that's up to them. If anyone wants to talk about using them on this thread that's also fine.
You're a great bunch of people supporting each other in something that's really hard to do and that's fantastic, let's just get back to that.
Take careCould you do with a Money Makeover?

Fresh Start
Hi all I am now on day 10! I feel quite good apart from the fact I can smell everything, I can smell a mould in the living room but there is nothing to cause it!?
Anyway I am enjoying my food, Dh cooked me a lovely roast yesterday and it was delish!
I may be getting some luck with a house exchange, which will be great then maybe my girls will like eachother! So little bit less stress:)

I'd forgotten (not surprising over 20 years) what a non smoking mouth was like.
Another thing I did was smell my towels I used when I was smoking, ugh, horrible.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Could be! When did you start getting a bit more motivated? Did it take a while?
My motivation comes at night when I am going to bed and I lay there thinking of all the stuff I am going to do tomorrow0 -

When my DD came along I really wanted to stop, when I started having panic attacks, I really needed to stop. I managed 7 weeks on that one, but in my head I still needed them, so I went back and it depressed me massively.
I was the complete opposite to motivated I think, I was so depressed that I'd never be able to give up, I had given up.
I was disgusted in myself, I knew other people were just wondering why I didn't just give up, I'm a big strong character, people just assume I can do whatever I want.
My motivation now is my family, whenever I look at them, whenever I kiss my wife and she doesn't turn her nose up, not having to sneak outside at other peoples houses, or here when someone visits.
All of these keep my motivation going. My anxiety problems have been reduced hugely because I'm breathing better. I'd always assumed I'd die because of cigs, my motivation is that I may now have a future.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
hi, just reading this talk of motivation. my motivation is my family and my health, the thought of making my family upset and worried because i have a smoking related disease really upsets me and that is why i have stopped.esp as i have had a health scare.
its great though, i can honestly say im happier not smoking!!:j:j:j0 -

(Not posting to argue/stir things up etc - just for reference to anyone who was not around last January!)
I can't find the post it's linking to now but I did have a look last night and the thing that grabbed me was how you responded to Erme's quite complicated post and how you'd tried to understand every part of it in order to help and support her with her quit. That was so kind the way you did that - just thought I'd say, it bought a big smile to my face.
I hit the month mark without a cigarette tomorrow - getting there in baby steps finally. Treated myself to a nice Estee Lauder limited edition highlighter compact today with some of the cash saved from giving up - it's a little beaut :-)11th Heaven prizes Number 103

2 weeks - patches and inhalator
Morning all, whoop whoop I have now made it to the 2 week mark. I'm also hardly using the inhalator now. I just don't think about it and don't really feel that I need it. Am keeping it with me tho, just in case!
Slept with my patch on again last night, whoops. Every time I do that I get really wierd vivid dreams, does anyone else suffer with that?
Is anyone else going to the clinics and blowing into their CO machines? The first week, as a smoker I blew 13. The second week I blew a 3, then this week I blew a 7!!! Really don't understand it as I haven't had a fag at all. I am not well at the moment and not really eating, so don't know if that could effect it? Or I had just been round my friends house who smokes and got a lift to the clinic in her other half's car. Luckily the guy in the clinic believed me and recorded it as a 4 for me, otherwise I won't get my quit bonus after 4 weeks. Just annoying as I know I have been so good!!
I'm sure my taste buds would be returning if I could only eat anything I would tell you!! lol. At least I'm not putting weight on tho!
