My biggest problem now is that I can taste food better so I crave all the time, not necessarily unhealthy food, but goddamn. I'm ready to propose to food it tastes so good, I was in raptures about home made ratatouille today. It's got to the point that i won't cook anything that isn't home made as it's just not worth enjoying. I'm going to be the size of a house and seriously obsessed with good food by the end of the year ;)
But hey I'll be happy! :rotfl:

OMG food does taste soooo much better doesnt it lol, I went a little OTT so have today joined a well known diet place with the initial WW lol if not i will be fatter than i am already lol time to get skinny again

haha I think I killed my taste buds tonight. Slipped when putting the chillis in my stir fry, there was loads of chilli in it. Blew my face off.
  • To be honest guys!!..I am overwhelmed by the support here!:T

I think I could do it with the help of you all!..I really am absolutely blown away..and inspired :)

I will keep you posted on developments

DD..Thank you so much for the PM..both my wife and I have sat here reading the links..pretty shocking and educational!

With a 9 year old and a 2 year old ( both boys) I really would like to see them both grow up...I know I am letting everything out here but, TBH..the way I smoke now and if I continue, I don't think I would see much of their adult lives..I am fit ( I have to be in the forces) but could be a whole lot better ( I am extremely tenacious and, although I smoke a lot, my pride ensures I don't let the younger lads out pace me too much :rotfl: )

When away from family, sometimes smoking is a great comfort..I'm sure I can do without it though.

    Thanks all!!

Right then...I have some 14mg patches in the cupboard and loads of inhaler cartridges. I have 4 fags left in one packet and a full pack of 20!

Ok..here goes my new friends!!..I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE ANY MORE CASH ON THESE LITTLE !!!!!!S!!..so, I figure at the rate I smoke, I have until tomorrow mid afternoon to get my head right.

Any advice??..This time I really really want to quit!

right my advice (and I always have an opinions :rotfl:) smoke them them just put a patch on a little later. I think its really more about the committment rather than the method? what do you guys think?

This time I smoked about 5 cigs in the morning on the day I gave up and then when I ran out I didn't get anymore, this was better for me than getting rid of them the night before. This is what I have done in the past so it was less frightening for me to do it this way

Circus was it an eye opening moment looking at the links? sounds like it was, i remember about a week before i decided to quit i had a look at some websites and it stunned me, you do have support from us.

Imagine how much better your pride will be when in a few weeks or months, or even one year from now when you can hold your head up and proudly state 'I gave up smoking', i can tell you, from my point of view it is one of the proudest things i can tell people, and i take great joy in telling those who did not believe i could do it going from a 40 a day crutch through life to nothing overnight

Ah in my home diet is a very bad word.... ;) Me and my housemate try to make sure we make at least 3 good homemade meals a week, I also make at least one homemade soup a week for work and freeze all the extra. I personally find eating really good fresh food just makes me uber bouncy so I do half an hour of yoga 5 times a week, walk a lot and do Lindy Hopping twice a week.

Oh and I Ceilidh dance once a month, but that ALWAYS kills me ;)
Eat well, be happy and move about lots! Proper food is so much better for the soul, and who wants to be skinny anyway, if I fall I would prefer to have a wee bit of padding so I have a chance to bruise rather than break something ;)

  • NEWBIES:

Accept that you have given up nothing and taken up living.
By quitting you are not making any great sacrifice.
Any duration of time without nicotine is a gift......not a sacrifice.

Once your mind set switches from 'quitting' to 'having quit' the challenge lightens.
There is a difference between being in the process of quitting and having quit.
(Nearly) 6 months ago I would never have thought it possible to go this long without.....I was worried about getting through the first morning.
Today it honestly takes no effort at all. I don't remember the last anything I would call a bad crave.

There is light at the end of the tunnel and it is different for everyone...........but the constant in this equation is that it is possible to live your life nicotine free.

All you have to do is decide you want to..................
