I know its the most depressing thing about having been soooooo frugal (I used to get duty free tobacco £6.50 for 50grms and that would last 5 days) I feel sooooooo envious of people saving huge amounts of money. But anyway its still £11.55 in my pocket and not someone elses! :j

hehe it wasn't meant to come across like that. Just thought you'd found a magic shop that sold cigs so cheap. Not that I'd go there now to shop !
  • Don't worry I haven't been counting each day, I put the figures into the timeanddate.com website!

Just want to say good luck to everyone who has stopped or is stopping or even thinking about stopping. I still feel good about my decision to stop (cold turkey / Allen Carr method) over a year ago.

I found the biggest advantages are health but strangely even more important is that I have stopped feeling bad about myself every time I smoked a cigarette or even thought about them (which was most of the time). The black cloud has gone.

It's been a long time since my last post but I wanted to update as I got a lot of strength from other people's stories when I stopped and the support on here.

sorry to hear you are having a time of it today, can you take yourself out for a walk or DO somethng you really enjoy doing , evil "nic" is tapping you on the shoulder but YOU are the one in control , and NOT the nic , you are stronger that theat and remind yourself of all the possitive things ridding yourself of this weed will bring

  • Oh you mean the girls who can't think of anything in life except fitting into *that* dress and will starve for a week before going out, then drink two high sugar drinks, turn into a raving maniac and throw up halfway through the evening?

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • and who wants to be skinny anyway, if I fall I would prefer to have a wee bit of padding so I have a chance to bruise rather than break something ;)

:( Ah! Nym that's not fair, I don't have any 'padding' I want some, I really, really do :rotfl:

And it was really windy here today, I didn't stand a chance out there..I need some bodyguards for windy days..

  • hi everyone

well day 8 is here! feeling better in myself, and can now taste things! lol

no major cravings, have started to drink fruit juice instead of tea to break the habit.

Also my house is cleaner/tidier! lol as i now spend time doing things instead of sitting having a cig!

I also like having money in my purse, and not worrying about how to afford the packet of cigs i need.

Well done everyone, keep up the good work

Hello again Geoff :wave:and so very many congratulations on having reached the end of that superb journey of yours!!! :T:T It may have been a long time since you last posted, but at least you've given yourself time to know you're well over the year considered by many of us to be everyone's real quit time. That first year is one heck of an accomplishment, and as you well know, it makes such a difference to see folk who have got there which proves to us all that yes - it can be done! I can easily identify with your phrase

<<"have stopped feeling bad about myself every time I smoked a cigarette">>

That was me too before I stopped as every ciggy I had, I knew I shouldn't be having it and should be concentrating on stopping because of what each and every one was doing to me. Madness and thank goodness it's all well gone. Thanks so much for coming back to let us all know, Geoff, thanks also for giving others that little bit more incentive in knowing it's all achievable. Thanks so much for giving us your time, so good to see you!

Hi Sally, not such a good day today then, but try to focus on tomorrow as the next day is so often totally different. It's lovely to see your last 5 word phrase though - stick to it Sally - you're lttle one to be will be quite chuffed one day to know you quit for him/her! One tip - as soon as the Ads come on TV, mute it so you don't hear any and look away or at something so your mind's taken from it immediately. My hubby does that all the time....and he's never taken a puff in his life! :silenced:

Well done, Jammy! Isn't it great when you get by during the times that 'used' to affect us so much... Strength of mind Jammy...every time. Also gives you time to pop round Tubes and do some cashing in!!!! ;) You're not becoming obsessed with your pot are you??!

Az, you be very, very careful out in that wind by yourself, you need tieing down to something or....maybe shoes made of lead would help - though then you'd be like a weeble! I don't think you can win - well, accept in the battle against fags!

Hello there SmellyOldSock and brilliant news. on being 8 days free!!! Oh, how we all clean, clean and clean after stopping smoking. A very good idea in swapping tea for fruit juice, it helps a lot, but you'll be able to get back to a nice cuppa and you'll know the time. It's good to hear you're doing so well, stick with it SOS! :)
