Can't really give you any advice, as I've never used either, but I'm sure a 'patch expert' will be along to help you very soon.

Well I'm hardly that! But I will put in my twopennyworth. I found slinging a patch on for the first few days while smoking helped me, because I still had the little cancer sticks but realised I didn't need or want to smoke so many. I got to the point by the 4th day (I quit completely on the 5th) that I was smoking 5 a day from about 30 and wasn't enjoying any of them. Suddenly it didn't feel half as painful. Mind I did that on the lowest patch, so maybe chop a patch in half and try that out for a couple of days?

Ultimately, you want to quit, you're still stuck with them cigarettes, you want to get free, take the plunge. You'll never be as badly off as you are right now. I would say just have a go. And with patches, you will find they itch so you may need to put them on different arms each day and some find they have strange dreams with them on. Have a go. We're all here for you :)

Ok..here goes my new friends!!..I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE ANY MORE CASH ON THESE LITTLE !!!!!!S!!..so, I figure at the rate I smoke, I have until tomorrow mid afternoon to get my head right.

Any advice??..This time I really really want to quit!

    Hi Circus

You've made the first move by coming on here and joining us~well done and welcome~ I'm using step 2 Nicorette patches and Inhalator I find this works best for me, I really believe the patches are doing a great job ;) and just to give that extra help I use the Inhalator as and when 'needed'. In all honestly I have had a few tiny cravings and 10 days on really no cravings at all. This thread is the best 'stop smoking NRT' I have ever used.. I've tried quitting untold amounts, now I've got the right help (here) I couldn't do it without being here.

Keep checking in and when you're ready to decide we will be here to listen and help, we're a friendly bunch :)

Good for you Circus :T I hope it goes well for you, remember the first 3 days of a full quit are the hardest, after that it gets easier by the day.

It is so nice to be free of them, not having to plan my life around when the shops open, or how many of them i have etc.

we all felt negative about our quits before we took the plunge, its nic's hold over us im afraid :)

please remember that we are here for you, come on here and vent and rant as you wish, we wont take any offence, but will help you through.

have a read through the 1st and 2nd thread for some great tips, and i would encourage you to download the silk quit meter as you can then watch how well your quit is going :)

    Day 5 Champix

    evening everyone

I have felt lousy all day, hope it is just my body getting rid of the toxins, couldn't sleep last night so ended up going back to bed this morning. Good job I'm not working at the moment.

Determined - well done, you should be so proud of yourself.
Circus - I carried on smoking with the champix for a few days, got to the stage where I threw the last few on the fire, made me feel ill.

Sorry head cabbaged can't remember anything else. It's thanks to everyone on here that I have got this far. Well done to everyone else. Take care.

    :) Evening all

Went to my Newleaf appointment this morning held at the local chemists, i was quite suprised when the chemist recognised me from my last quit attempt 2 years ago! :o

Ideally i wouldn't go to him has i didnt find him very helpful last time, but its the closest and ultimately im only going to him to get the NTR, not support.

Paid my prescription fee of £7.20, which seems very cheap considering the cost of the inhalers i got, OH is also quitting but he's doing the patches.

So were all set to quit smoking tomorrow, Im feeling ready but a little scared , last attempt i put on a stone in 1 month, unfortunatly i cant afford to put anymore weight on has im already struggling with my weight and need to lose at least a couple of stone!! :o

Now going to read over some of the links and see if i can download one of those quit ~ o ~ metre thingamejigs.

Well done everyone look forward to meeting and getting to know you all a bit better soon :)

  • Topsy There's a lot of lurgy going about, but it may be the nicotine withdrawal effects/tiredness. Hope you sleep well tonight and feel better.
