  • Happy New Year to you all- all the best for 2012

Anyhow, I went to my brothers house for New Year- about 50 miles from where I live so had a drink and stayed the night. Both him and his missus smoke and to be honest I was not looking forward to coming as I knew I would be tempted to smoke. So I listened to AC on my phone on the journey over there for some additional resolve.

During the night they kept popping outside for a cig (they don't smoke in the house) and I must admit to being tempted. Well, I say tempted- I 'favoured' the idea of having a cig but knew I definitely wouldn't have one; it was probably more like a feeling of being deprived of a cig than being tempted. Anyway, the upshot was that I didn't have any and that makes me feel really good.

These little milestones really help one along the way- so that's my tip for anyone getting free of cigs- mark each milestone- be it an hour, an evening, a day or a week- because they are important and will help to strengthen your resolve.

    Good luck all

    FDM
I do not smoke. I last smoked on 03 November 2011. I will not give in to that awful addiction again.

Many can get sidetracked along the way but it sounds like you can turn a negative into a positive. Be strong.

    Good luck

Thought I would log in to wish all a Happy Smoke Free New Year.

I do follow the thread daily and remembered something about Alan Carrs book.I bought this about 5 years ago,and started to read it on nunerous occasions but never read the last chapter since, I read I would be a non smoker when I did :o (wimp).

I intend to read the last chapter soon.

Sue thanks for posting the Silkquit? link I downloaded and showed Beryl my saving since July over £1000.

She likes to shop does Beryl she may be at the crossroads no pressure from me but encoragement.

I was thinking about the way in which I quit smoking
I think I stopped the oposite way to which I started, when I started I coughed and spluttered until I thought I looked cool (not Fool)
I stopped by utilizing cigs gradually reducing smoke inhalation, equivalent to patches.

Anyway it worked for me,now where did I leave ACs book.

Hi there Denis and a Very Happy New Year!!! To Beryl too, of course!
So sorry for not replying before, fact is I only saw you by chance a minute ago, when looking for something else earlier in the thread, and notice why I missed you - we both posted at exactly 6:02 pm!! :D oooh lets hope Beryl's love of the cash just might push her to stop then! Fingers crossed. OK Denis, it's the 1st January now how about reading that last chapter! ;) Congratulations for being where you are now..though I haven't a clue as you haven't put the time and method used in your Title bar, have a look at FDM's.

You take care of that ear, Erme..d'you hear?! Maybe you don't! ;) You'll mess your stomach (gall bladder and liver) up something chronic if you eat NOTHING for so long!!! A member of our family has terrible problems due to trying to slim that way and now has dire problems - so please, eat sensibly and savour each mouthful so it 'fills' you more. That and upping the exercise is the way to go. A Happy New Year, Erme, make it really count!!

    Hugs, Sue x

Congratulations, FDM!!!! That was a huge test and you passed it brilliantly, well done you! :T Though I understand your feelings of being deprived, it's the smokers who are that way, you are the one who's no longer deprived as you're gaining in every way, especially health!! Fantastic work! :jI just LOVE that last paragraph, it's one to really be taken notice of! :)

    Sue x

Hmmm! Oh dear Mouse! :( Well, there's little to say, but - you're back here today and that's what counts so, very well done to you on coming to your senses!!! :grinheart Whether it was alcohol, people or the time of year that threw you last night, try and avoid it/them whilst you're still so vulnerable, then once you've more days/weeks/months behind you, you'll be far less inclined to be swayed so easily.

Onward and upward, Part Mouse, and remember, you're obviously far stronger than your name might suggest or you wouldn't be here at all!!! ;)
    Hugs, Sue x

For all those looking in and not yet taken the plunge, dip your toe in, after all, wat have you got to lose??? However, you CAN regain your health!

I wondered if it might be that, Mouse, never mind you're well on your way again. I'm fine thank you for caring. :) Take care of yourself.
