Hi determined, I feel sure Tricia & Kiwi won't have fallen off of the wagon, just didn't bother too much longer in coming back. Well done you in getting over hiccup times. You CAN do this determined and YOU know it. Re the fall, I had an op for the shoulder in October and it's coming on very well, it's just my R hand that won't get better so I use the "speech to text" device which is marvellous! Never mind about your sig, though until July was so much to be proud of!
Oh dear Erme! You're a case for sure. BTW I take Rabraprazole and the things is with whatever we take that ends with ....prazole we have to take it constantly! I have a health problem which puts me right off food when it strikes, but I have to take them with a little food about 10 mins after regardless or suffer for days!!! If you've been prescribed them then PLEASE, Erme take them and bin the ruddy cider!!!!!! Food's vital to us all, but especially to you and I and all the thousands that take ......prazole of any kind. Forget the diet for now and up the exercise!!!!
Hi there, RainbowDreamer and very well done so far!!! We can all do this, we just have to stick to it and use all the willpower we can muster. Get plenty of exercise! That's vital, so is water and fruit. Keep active with your hands and mind and do look at the Quitters Pledge over the page I think. When you're having bad times, come on here and type it all down, it truly does help!
Hiya DD and congratulations on I year, 5 months AND 2 days!!!!! :T:T:T:T Great to see you again!
Hiya Ali and welcome back!!!! You did brilliantly before and CAN do so again!! Get the crochet/knitting out and get going with that. We have anyone back anytime, no provisos whatever, why should there be! You can do it Ali and I reckon you WILL, just as determined will!!!
Good to see you too, Daz, stay handy with your helpful pieces, yes?! Good!!!
Come on people, this is so doable!!!

ah as always you always seem to make it better! :A not sure you remember - and why would you? A little narcissistic of me to presume :rotfl: but have had an awful day, giving up smoking always makes me even more highly strung and neurotic for a short while. So have gone around feeling sooooooo sorry for myself, crying on the way home, had a barny with my ds and then I see your comment (in bold) and I'm ready to keep calm and carry on Thank you xDF as at 30/12/16

Sue you are as always on hand with amazing advice!!! I haven't had a chance to knit, between uni and then having the small one home all the time over xmas, I don't seem to get a minute to myself (get the violins out lol). Glad today is almost over, I have had a major sense of humour failure, along with being more than a little irrational and I am sooooo tired!!!!!!! Still, tomorrow is another day as they saySept GC - £13.19/£150

Now on day 2 cold turkey. Feeling very on edge and moody.
Trying very hard to distract myself. I know it will be easier once I get past day 3. That's when I would normally cave in.
I don't even fancy one.. think its the lack of nicotine making me feel so bad.
Well done to all those who have quit and good luck to those who are planning it.
Fresh lime juice or lemon juice.
DEEP DEEP breathing when the craving hits it passes in no time.

Thanks Sue
...Hugs...
The thing is I was on the omeprazole due to too much coffee and cigs...the doc thought I was taking 2 a day but I've been managing just peachy on one a day for months - so he took me off them just before the holidays....
PS. Crochet and knitting is so fun....I made a tank top for myself just before xmas and like have also made socks....

Your Dr must have mad spells to have done that, Erme! Just keep on with the 1 per day and you'll be fine, that's all I take, but IF I get an evening with some reflux I just top up with a small amount of Gaviscon and I'm fine.
Sensible food, sensible exercise and plenty of crochet, just what Dr UU orders!!!! :j

You'll be ok, determined, though if I can help, so be it gladly. Yes, I do remember as we also had a lovely chap here at the same time and we both wrote you PMs one night, but it was short-lived and you got through it!Don't forget to hold a pillow tight round your face and holler or cry into that as much as you wish, it'll vent a heck of a lot and really ease your frustration and anger. How you feel is as natural as the day is long, so always give way to it. To relax you more, use "Rescue Remedy" and take deep breaths, you'll be fine. :grinheart

Don't worry, Ali, I do understand (without need for the violins!) but as with determined, you got so far and were doing brilliantly until a night out. You know your weaknesses, avoid them until you can get over the vulnerability and you too will be fine. You and determined have great will power...keep right on using it!!Hug your little treasure and you'll know most of why you're doing this!
why you'll win through too!

You're so right, Denis! Stick around and help out with such wise things. I never stop willing Beryl on, maybe one day!
This is one heck of a terrific journey folks so keep treading the path, a bit more every day and you'll be plodding along to the winning line sooner than you think. Stay focused and never lose patience.

Well I've made it to day 3 cold turkey. This is the day I always get to and it gets too much and I cave in.
Been drinking lots of fresh Orange juice. Haven't been out again today. Feel mean on the kids, but if I don't go out then I can't buy cigs.
Feel horrible today. Still on edge and snappy. dont know what to do with myself.
I really hope tomorrow it starts to get easier!0 -
Well done RainbowDreamer, look how courageous you are to have got here :T:T, now if you can do that you CAN conquer it, by taking little steps!!!! You don't know what to do with yourself? Have a look through the PM I sent you, then how about a lovely walk, it helps get shot of the toxins within you even faster and makes you feel so much better about yourself as it releases the endorphins into your brain.
If that doesn't appeal to you yet, then try some indoor exercise DVDs etc. Go for a jigsaw, cleaning, sewing, knitting..anything! Take up a new hobby, if languages appeal then there are free on-line courses to try, start with the beeb and theirs. THINK hard, RD as you CAN and WILL do this if you make your mind work!!!!
Don't let yourself down now, this is Day 3 the one that really counts, so get passed this and the nicotine is out of your body, if you're going cold turkey. Think of ALL the reasons why you don't want to smoke anymore, then think of all the BAD things about smoking - you DON'T want them so, a day at a time and the Quitters Pledge will see you throughQuitters Pledge
"I'm NOT going to smoke any cigarettes today, but if I wish, I may smoke tomorrow" Then repeat the pledge every day until it's lodged in your brain and mind. This is YOUR LIFE, RainbowDreamer, make it healthy!

Sorry to hear that, Erme, don't forget your meds as you don't want that again tonight. Sounds as though a bit of exercise will do you good.
Hugs, Sue x
Excellent, Ali and sounding so very positive which is always great to hear. Go careful with the nibbles and don't forget (how could you) the water and Ice Poles/Pops, apples too are a long snack(ish) type of food. A small amount of nuts is good but not going OTT with. Have a good time and don't go outside with the puffers, the risk getting blown about, but you don't want to!!!

Hi everyone,Just a few words of encouragement, on 24th March last year I had my last cigarette. I was on the patches for about 3 weeks at first, and they did help me prob. Cos I smoked mild ones for a few years and There were times when I was tempted to 'have just one' but I didn't because I wanted to be a non-smoker MORE...it is hard to do but I just rode the cravings out and it was tough but eventually they faded and got further apart. Occasionally, like today it might get late into the afternoon and I think for the first time of the day...mm a smoke...NO I don't think so not when I've come this far.
I'm so pleased I made the decision that day to quit, I've got a bit more money in my purse (instant pay rise) although a bit heavier.
Just hope if your starting off on this too...read the posts for encouragement...I did back in march and have a glass of water by you keep drinking it... it does help. Good luckI love being a non smoker (almost 5 years)
I love being frugal
I love being debt free and have NSD0
