Just checking in, am still coping, had a few days of severe sciatica but due to not smoking could afford some accupuncture and a massage or 2 which has made me all better so dead chuffed - if was still on the fags would of had to just make do with pain killers so feeling a new boost.
have also managed this week not to snack like I had been and even started running on an eve which normally would of killed me walking to end of road.
So all in all feeling good - keep it up everyone

Yeah running is fab :). Are you doing the couch to 5k program by any chance?

Crawiness is catching. The other night it was the radio :rotfl:. Worry when you start defusing them to stop them 'interfering with your brain' LOL....

Anyhow thanks for the heads up on the spray with the sinuses...I have reduced and it's going okay. Getting to the point of only semi liking the spray...Not craving the nicotine. I guess I was just lazy as it was like 2 secs and you got your nicotine (rather than a minute or two)...So I guess I was just lazy...I don't think I was particularly overdosing on it.

I also slept in my own bed for the first time in weeks :A and it went okay though am a little nervous about going for a nap in a sec but will try..only got about 5 hours sleep  so tired :(

So yeah that's me....Pray this hyperness goes soon and I can sleep okay in my bed from now on..

Morning Erme, have you ever tried any relaxation techniques? If not, do so as I reckon it would do you the world of good, truly!

  • Hi all,

I'm new here and am hoping to get some reassurance more than anything! Three weeks ago I smoked my last cigarette, but for the last week I've felt nauseous almost continuously
    • is this normal?
    • how long will it last?
    • what can I do to settle my stomach?

It's affecting my concentration in work and also my sleep; over the past four days I have consistently woken in the night and struggled to fall back asleep.

And just for the record (because, yes, the thought struck me too that I might be pregnant) I took a test and I'm not... knowing that has helped somewhat with the sleeping issue :rotfl: The only other "lifestyle" or other change which I can think of is the stopping smoking!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

That is your body detoxing itself, 21 days to get rid of the last traces of nicotine, so you will be at the point freedom. This could be why you are experiencing abnormal occurrences.

Don't worry, it should stop over the next few week, but if it doesn't best get down the docs...

Hello and a very warm welcome to the thread and to a far better life, girl_withno_name. :) First and foremost, very, very well done for stopping the smoking, that is wonderful as well as for a VERY good while!! :T Be proud and focus on that!

We're all individuals and most of us aren't at all badly affected when quitting, but for some of us it's a real sock to the system, and I'm positive this is exactly what's happening with you. Forget the sleeping part because that is very common, you're normal!! ;)

I've heard of people having terrible stomach problems(pain wise) and in a different way this is like you only with the nausea which although is horrible to experience, it's a normal process ~ BUT ~ should not last you much longer! In fact, now you've aired your concerns you may well find it will gradually fade away. :grinheart

I think to help with settling your stomach you should contact your Pharmacist or Dr, one or both may be able to help you a lot. For now, keep sipping gently at water. Are you eating at all? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer's "No", but in turn that will only make it worse, so do try to eat little and often as it WILL help! If you haven't eaten for a while then try a banana first as it settles an empty tum, some milk too if it's palatable to you (my DH detests it!).

Try hard to do things to take your mind away from it, try things you LOVE doing...anything as long as you really enjoy it.
Keep strong and focused as quitting is about the best thing you'll ever do!!!
IF things should continue as they are (I really don't think they will) then it's worth being checked by your Dr.

Do please let us know how you go? You're doing amazingly, keep at it.

    Love and hugs, Sue x

    I think you're right, zorro! ;)

    Perfectly put, Daz!!

Thanks guys! I'm glad to hear that this is something experienced by others, but that hopefully it should pass soon! If I still feel the same in a week's time then I'll head to the docs (although I'm on hols from work next week and this wasn't my plan for how to spend the time! :rotfl:)

I actually am eating, although less so than usual... I even sometimes feel temporarily better after eating! Will also pick up some bananas and milk when I pop down town later. :p

To the highlighted part, girl_withno_name, that says it all, eat a little more frequent and you'll soon be feeling much, much better.
