Hi Sue-UU and thank you for the welcome, and thank you for your lovely invitation Erme
I've just scared myself by starting up a debt diary and putting down what Hubby and I spend on cigarettes. Good grief! I am certainly going to immerse myself in AC, in fact I'm going to start the book tonight and get myself in the appropriate frame of mind.
Letting smokers smoke in the house was a huge mistake. I came at it with the wrong attitude. More that I had to be strong, while being polite and letting them smoke. Hubby will happily (ok, perhaps at this time of year not so happily) go outside for a fag. Other guests are not so polite. I used to get up and open a window, but I see now, what I ought to have done is say that this is a non-smoking house and just been "selfish" iyswim. I really wasn't doing myself any favours.
Eight years is a long time, and I'm so proud of myself for doing it. I used to check out the prices of cigarettes and say to myself "thank goodness I don't have that hanging over my head any more". Now, if I can do it once I can do it again.

Stopping smoking coming soon.0 -
Hi Sue - UU thanks for the PM amd thanks for the welcome guys, have still not given in so all good, suffering horrendous sciatica this last 2 days tho :-(
Am treating myself to a new coat which is unheard of so that has made me not have a ciggy lol
Thought would right down how i've got to where I am for my benefit in the future as much as any other reason.
Threatened a million times to quit, did patches - lasted a week, went docs and did champx lasted 2 weeks - as soon as got onto the stronger dose I threw up constantly so stopped taking them and decided smoking was preferable lol.
Think it turns out I just didn't really want to stop yet - so this time decided I did want to stop before my 30th 11/11/11 plus due to move into my new house after xmas so have banned smoking indoors as soon as we move (OH also smokes).
Went to dentist a week before my birthday 4/11/11so had my last ciggy at 9pm on 3/11/11 (mainly coz I'd run out and miles away from shop) dentist appointment was at 10.30 am so figured would do without til after as would sure dentist didn't want a faceful of mouldy fag smoke.
After leaving dentist due to neading a minor filling I'd had an injection so couldn't actually feel my face so couldn't smoke even if wanted.
By time 24 hours had passed I thought stuff it was gonna quit this time next week so I'll just not have any from now.
So hear I am 3 weeks and 3 days or something with no NRT and no smoking, getting odd little niggle but then the ever helpful OH is still smoking in the house in front of me so hardly suprising really.
However I am please I can say I have stuck to my word of quitting at 30 where as he hasn't he said would quit at 30 he now 32 and still not even tried - says he will come the move but we will see - I'll be the one laughing at him freezing his butt off in the garden lol.
keep up the good work everyone your posts are keeping me going :T0 -
You are doing so well dizzy...
Sue yeah you can be forgiven...:D
I'm almost 12 weeks now e-cig...
Though wasn't feeling well mentally last night @ kirk & had terrible nicotine cravings...did my head in. Tried to be strict on the chemical nicotine but it was hard. Even coming home and getting e-cig after didn't help. Nothing helped
. ...but didn't get a cig (Didn't have the monies)
Didn't want a cig. Just wanted nicotine

Morning Erme, I'm not that bloomin clever to be able to magic yu back in your bedroom (tell him to unlock the door for pete's sake!) or to be able to find your crochet hooks -god luck with finding them.
Hi Thrawn Frugal Lassie, you really will have to be hard re folk smoking in your house! They should be asking you before they light up anyway.. out of common courtesy. In future when you invite folk round, it's worth pre-buying some "No Smoking" labels and sticking them on doors; either that or you just have to tell them "sorry, but I don't smoke anymore so you'll need to join hubby OUTSIDE!"
It's your life TFLassie, so it's you who needs to take care of it - after all why are you stopping smoking - so you do not want to inhale theirs! Sorry if I sound a bit narked, but other folk bug me when they smoke at the cost of others. You did yourself so proud when you stopped smoking for all that time, so yes, you can do it again and I'll be the first to encourage you to quit again and never, ever go back asit just isn't worth it.
All the very best with AC, the debt diary, a darned good idea, then right down all the things you want to do with your money, to live your dreams!
Sue x
Hi dizzydonkeys! Re the Champix, are you sure you took them on a full stomach? It is possible they can make you nauseous anyway, but we've had several folk here who take them on empty stomachs - and then are surprised to 'see' them again!
I truly do hope you stick to your guns with No FAGS inside the new house, that would quite possibly push your husband into NOT wanting to go outside..and would probably give up too! Apart from that, it isn't fair to you to try to quit when he's merrily smoking away!
IF you can give up while you're 30 it would be great for you as we all begin to lose the elasticity of the lungs from 30 onwards!!! A week or two ago on guy in his early 40s had his lungs tested and found he had the lungs of a 61 year old!!!!! Makes sense to give it all up now eh! By all means keep your diary, but also try the below pledge and see if that helps. The Quitters Pledge
Tell yourself every morning "I'm not going to smoke at all today, but if I wish to, I may smoke tomorrow." Repeat that pledge every morning, it tricks your mind and makes things more bearable to do it in bitesizes.Sue xSealed Pot Challenge 001 My Totals = 08 = £163.95 09 = £315.78 10 = £518.80 11 = £481.87 12 = £694.53 13 = £1200.20! 14 = £881 15 = £839.21 16 = £870.48 17 = £871.52 18 = £800.00 19 = £851.022021=£820.26[/SizeGrand Totals of all members (2008 uncounted) 2009 = £32.154.32! 2010 = £37.581.47! 2011 = £42.474.34! 2012 = £49.759.46! 2013 = £50.642.78! 2014 = £61.367.88!! 2015 = £52.852.06! 2016 = £52, 002.40!! 2017 = £50,456.23!! 2018 = £47, 815.88! 2019 = £38.538.37!!!! :j0 -
Using Champix (MY Latest Reward) I am typing this out now listening to my new DAB radio what a difference from my other radio the clarity is brilliant my other radio was a right pain! The stations on times would sort of intermingle and I didn’t know what was being said I had to fiddle with the tuner until I could get to hear the station again and quite often I was unsuccessful. But now it’s wonderful and all thanks to me quitting smoking 61 days ago, I put up with my other radio because I couldn’t afford to smoke and have treats at the same time, but that’s all changed I am now A NON-SMOKER.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Och well done you :T...
You see my weakness (treat wise) when I quit was perfume LOL....But then I couldn't smell them when I smoked. I ended up getting some cheap chanel no.5 at one point for like £40 on ebay cos I loved it so much and on a bad day it just cheers me up so much...Little squirt of that and I feel sane again..
You know full well what I meant by MP sue. It's a code word...for P..Does that make sense? I don't want to embarass you..
Nope I don't have a hubby to unlock the door :rotfl:. Do I sound like a polygamist? tee hee? Nope I have really bad dangerous thoughts when I try and sleep in my bed...
So we have one of two options - new radio to act as distraction when I go to bed (cos of my cheap fossilized £5 one I've had for about 2 years from the charity shop) or else get therapy from the community nurse. Not confident anything is going to work on this one and so desperate to get back into the bed that I'll try anything (to sleep guys. No more no less)

Amazing news, Viv!!!! It's such an incentive when you can actually use things you've bought as a result of having stopped. You're getting your old life back..your health too!!! :T:T
Fantastic news!!!

Do problem with embarrassing me, Erme, that'd be nigh on impossible. I guessed you didn't have a DH, but I don't know what else you get up to. I see what you mean with the MP now. BTW Is the therapy not more important? Or could it be said that the radio is more therapeutic?? Difficult one, but what should you do? Take care my friend and try to focus on the good things in life, the perfume to start with, anything like that helps.

Morning all
- ready for another smoke free day? Or maybe it's your first day off the weed - whatever it's horrid outside so welcome
Tomorrow is my 12 week mark :j
Looking forward to it but alas can't afford the expensive soap I'd promised to myself I'd buy for kirk when I got to 3 months
And next week I've promised baking (as next week is my official 3 month mark) for the drop in....and the week after I have to bake for the medics....
For those quitting......you can do it!!! And there's loads of support for you on here. Sue is our princess. Just read back a few pages on what she has to say. She really does know her stuff :j
I personally am on the e-cig (pm me for info) though have tried other things but I'm a 'complicated' case LOL
and I have the lurgy. Sinusitis - again. Which beats a chest infection I used to get when on the weed

The best thing of late has been reducing the coffee...

Ahh, my last nemisis. :rotfl: I will knock the excessiveness on the head soon. Got to cut down, 10 plus "hits" a day is not donig me any good, sugar isn't helping the teeth either.
Let's get through this first year though. At this rate I could possibly have put on 4 stone by the time I get to a year, even with starting regular excercise. Don't want to try and change too many lifestyle habits at once...:)Was in debt £23k- Not now (12/07-12/10):T
Did smoke- Not any more (26-02-11):j
I am not perfect but everyone loves a trier don't they??:A0
