Hiya kahunababy congratulations on the 2nd complete week!!! :T:THow wonderfully you're doing! People have had great success with AC, but not as quick and thoroughly as you. You're obviously as deterined as is possible.

I has problems with some initial weight gain after having stopped smoking, and the greatest problem was portion control. To help it a lot, half an hour before each meal I had a whole glass of water which filled me and really helped. Try that and see how you go, but don't take it less than 1/2 hr before or you'll wash the enzymes needed to digest your food.

Happy reading, kahunababy and WELL DONE!!

I sincerely hope you do decrease your e-cig, Erme as I'm sure you'd fnd it much easier to gradually get down then off everything! I'm aware that it takes time, but it's do-able.

Have a look at the PM I sent you and at the tips.

Thinking of you, you know that, Sue xx

I'd rather be addicted to the e-cig cos that's really about throat hit and flavour more than nicotine....I can see where you're coming from Sue but like I said I'd rather be hooked on the e-cig than the nasal spray...

Working on keeping tabs on the nasal spray. Slept for 10 hours last night (was really delusion prior) so happy 2uge4p4.gif. So pleased...

So on with the forums then the study this am then volunteering this am. Alas I left the window open from cooking last night so it's a tad nippy in here this am :(

Your call entirely, Erme and you know your own body after all. So long as you eventually kick it all then why should I mind ~ BUT ~ I would dearly love to see you say ta ta to the lot of it one day.

It's so good to see you happy, have a great day!

    Yeah I would too...

But then I know the current evening pills are a nightmare for making you want cigs so so long as I'm just on nicotine right now I'm happy...

Anyhow just had my first cup of ginger tea @ the chaplaincy and loved it :)..so refreshing...so bring on the ginger tea rather than the espressos for a pm treat :). Or even just a herbal tea....:D

And like I am thinking of knocking down my mg/ml the next few days so that should be good...But my tank is leaking so sure I'm using about 2ml more than I actually vape a day....but still. It washes off quickly (and I have baby wipes to hand)

Pray I can find my clear pencil case with my beloved crochet hooks in please. Doing my head in I've lost it...

  • hi, hope I can join in here, really feel I need a bit of support.
Have not had a ciggy for 3 weeks and 24hrs now, was a 20 a day smoker. Have been doing really well but now seem to be struggling and getting cravings, have been tempted the odd occasion to have one but have managed to resist.
Would appreciate any tips, hep support whatever and to just be able to type nonesense to get past the wobbly moment.

    Hi all.
Just wondered if anyone else, that has given up, has suffeed with bloating?

I am tall and SLIM (Honest) but now past the two mths barrier but for all that time have noticed my stomach bulging!!

I have NEVER been fat and this is peculiar but if I were a young woman, you would say I was preggers.

I have actually gained around 4-5 pounds only.

I also suffer from constipation, both of which are connected according to this site.

Anyone else having or had this problem?

treat yourself with some of the saved pennies a pat on the back for all your hard work

remember its just the habit of smokng you think you are missing , maybe start a savings plan but remember to REWARD yourself with whatever takes your pleasure

    read and post here

we all know what you are going through

    and wish you well

Hello and a warm welcome, dizzydonkeys.

I'm so pleased you looked for help at such a crucial time; you didn't give in and that's a terrific hurdle! 3 weeks is a marvellous achievement, too good to throw away! :T:T Praise yourself on how well you've done and, as JD says, reward yourself with something, perhaps a gift to you that will remind you of how wonderful you've done...on how great you CAN DO!!!

Please come and type nonsense as often as you need - that alone helps so much as you're pouring your feelings out and that's half the battle! To give in to "just one puff, or one ciggie" is you starting up all over again and it's obvious you don't want that to happen! Stand proud, you've come a long way, keep treading along the journey it is sooo worth it!!!

    JD
has given you some brilliant advice, please use all of it and push yourself through this time as it is remnants of Old Nic that are still lying dormant in your mind, but get over this and kick it away. The more you do that the less it'll bother you, truly! Read through the following, C & P it so you can read it whenever you need to, you can take it to work too - whatever it takes, but please don't go back!!!

Smokey Thinking I just need one cigarette to take the edge off these cravings :(

Clear Thinking Cravings become weaker and less frequent with every day that I don’t smoke. Even just one puff will feed the cravings and make them Stronger. :D
    Smokey Thinking It’s been a long day. I deserve a cigarette. :(

Clear Thinking I deserve a reward after a long day, but there are better rewards than a cigarette. A favourite meal, a funny movie, or a hot shower will help me relax without ruining my quit attempt. :D

Smokey Thinking :( The urge to smoke is just too strong. I can’t stand it.
Clear Thinking Even the strongest cravings last less than 3 minutes. The urge will go away whether I smoke or not, and smoking now will just make it even harder for me to quit later. I can find something else to do—anything—until the craving goes away. :D
Smokey Thinking I blew it. I smoked a cigarette. I might as well go ahead and finish the pack. :(

Clear Thinking I am still learning how to be a non-smoker. It’s normal to make some mistakes. But I don’t have to smoke that next cigarette. I can learn from this mistake and keep going. :D
Smokey Thinking I can’t deal with never being able to have another cigarette for the rest of my life. :(

Clear Thinking I only have to deal with today. Quitting happens one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time! The future will take care of itself. :D

All very best wishes to be in the non-smoking world, it's far better than the other one. Thanks so much for chatting to us. :)

    Sue xx

Hi rizla, you're not the only one to have been temporarily cursed by this, I promise you. The trouble is that stopping smoking can be such a shock to the system (no wonder after the time we smoke for), but it will pass! Do all the natural things to stop the sluggishness of the system:

Plenty of water to help soften the food as it goes down, increase your fiber intake especially green veg such as cabbage 2 - 3 times a week. Try a cereal with bran in the mornings. Eat fruit as often as you can and get plenty of exercise! Brisk walking is really good to get the body 'working' again, if you walk anyway, increase it and go faster and a few separate times each day, it truly will pay off.

I was only thinking in the week that no one's complained about being bloated or having constipation problems for a good while, but I think a lot of folk believe it's only happening to them and maybe feel a bit embarrassed to raise the subject; apart from which - not everyone suffers from it! Let your body go through the transition period and get used to the change, you'll then be feeling so very much better. One of the most important things is to relax and really 'chill out' (lie back and listen to you favourite relaxing music) that too helps the system to be able to relax enough to let things go/pass. HOT drinks are good too, try some hot, but VERY hot water!

IF it goes on too much longer, rizla then go to your Dr for a laxative, but don't just get an over the counter one as it won't be quite strong enough. I see you did make the time ok then!! Congratulations rizla, you really do deserve it!! :T:T:T

Very well done to you too, JD, a winner if ever I saw one. ;)

All the very best to everyone, you really are making such a difference, especially to your health! :)
