Hi there JD! It' so good to see you. BTW did you mean shadydaz instead of Davey?

You're welcome to London (literally) I can't bear the place, possibly due to having to spend a couple of months there several years ago, enough to drive me bonkers!

Oh I do love snow, so long as it's not too much to disrupt everything.

Good to see you JD and very well done on the fag front or lack of em!

Evening all, its great seeing all the posts from people who have reached the 1 year mark WELL DONE EVERYONE :D

Well as my title says i have now reached 16 days without having a smoke :j I have been great on my tablets no problems to report, i am at the doctors in the morning for my prescription and i am hoping this appointment goes better than last week. I blew into the machine and i got a orange light  i had not sneeked one and i had not been near anyone smoking, but still made me feel very guilty, i made her do the test again and it came up green, phew i thought i had started smoking in my sleep :rotfl:
Can anyone who has been stopped a while please tell me if you stop being so hungry after a while because i am hungry all the time and could eat anything in sight, i am eating more fruit and drinking water but i am starting to feel a bit porky.
Keep up the good work all x

Hi ellionic! I'll bet you feel sooo good at having been free for 16 days!! Very well done for pushing ahead in the first place and being where you are now!! :T I'm really pleased you're ok on the pills.

Re the orange light last week, if you'd been anywhere near traffic then that alone would do it and put CM in your lungs. You blew out all the CM with the 1st blow, then the 2nd time with another intake of clean air you got the orange! :) Make sense to you? It's a wonder it didn't with the Nurse. In the morning before you go in, snatch a couple of breaths of air (nowhere near traffic) and you'll be ok.

Don't concern yourself too much with putting on weight, it's early days and stopping smoking will be a shock to your system; allow yourself enough time to settle down. In the meantime take regular sips of cold water to fill you up, nibble at slices of apple etc so you're getting reguar but smaller bits and bobs. Also try a handful of nuts and space them out over the course of the day, theyre filling and so good for you so long as you don't have more than a handful.

Other good things that are cool, last a good while and are not at all fattening are the Ice Pops/Poles. You can buy them individually in sweet shops that sell ice creams or buy them unfrozen in boxes in supermarkets. Don't forget to freeze them when you get them home!

One other thing to remember is to step up the exercise! Regular brisk walks around the park, neighbourhood or wherever really do help; they also help the body with the cleansing period it's going through and they'll also give you an afterburn, when calories are really burned off. :grinheart Any other exercise you can fit in so much the better.

You're getting there, ellionic and are already over 2 weeks!!!! Keep at it and all best wishes.

Erme, would you please stop avoiding the question?????!

Exactly what/how did you try to stop the cravings??

It will be so much better for you when you cut out the vaping..and have no fags at all! You'll honestly find you'll be so much less stressed when you have, it changed my life completely where stress was concerned.

That's why I'm always advising you to steer clear of others who rile you - they are never worth you stressing about. Anyone who wishes to conspire against you needs, quite frankly, to get a life! You'll bug him/her/them so much more by not rising to the challenge. Walk away (or switch off), breathe deeply and have a glass of cold water; so much better in the short and long run. BTW, have you ever tried Rescue Remedy, Erme? If not then please do as it's a natural product and (as many others have said on here) is absolutely marvellous for times when you're stressed...for quitting too!!!

NOW - would you kindly answer my question?!

    Sue x

Oh what GREAT news about you almost being at the 9 months, shadydaz, I'm going to go against the grain and congratulate you anyway.

    V e r y ** m a n y ** c o n g r a t u l a ti o n s on almost 9 months, shadydaz!!!!! :T:T:j:T:T

Please, please stay on the wagon and pay no heed to your wife; with luck she may soon see that it really just doesn't make sense. Whatever she does though shady, you can't risk throwing your life away by starting again. Stay strong and focused and walk away from where she or anyone else is smoking - and not too much alcohol - please!

I'm looking to see "I've quit for a year" here soon shady!!!! :D

    Sue xx

The question is confusing me now :(....I used nicorette nasal spray (one dose an hour) and a little e-cig (about 2ml vaped all day)

Does that answer the question. I like to keep the nasal spray down to about one dose every 2-3 hours if not more...and use more of the e-cig...

But then when I had the big voltage one I was vaping 5ml a day and for weeks now I've been down to about 2-3 ml a day...

Don't know if I was getting more nicotine from the big voltage one or not :(.Quite happy on the 3.7v with an LR carto though. Been on it about 4 weeks :D

So yeah..didn't mean to make you angry Sue ....Pray I've answered the question now....Hope you're okay...Yeah have used the rescue remedy but not found it very effective so far :(...Find a pill helps more....but it's all temporary with the doom and glooms and anxiety. The best thing of late has been reducing the coffee...

    Hi there Erme,

No, I understood all the other it was the bit below that I was asking about.
    Erme wrote:
But then was having sprays every hour yesterday ...just craved so much for some strange reason :(. Nothing eased it....

That quoted part was what you said, to which I asked.....

<<"So exactly what did you try to stop the cravings, Erme?">>

In other words, what did you do to try to help stop the cravings?

That was the question I asked at least twice! :wall:By the way Erme, if I'd been angry there would have been steam coming from the page you're looking at!!!!! :p

BTW keep trying with the Rescue Remedy, far better than any pills for sure.

All the best, Erme and keep happy...like me! :D

Och sorry.....yep the spray helped a bit but I am not keen on it (just a psychological issue with the spray) so wasn't happy using it so much...

If you have steam coming out your ears can I have a cup of tea :)

Oh heck......I give up :wall::doh::angry::huh::undecided:lipsrseal ..well nearly

Erme, bless you (I'm needing to say that right now)

What did you do to try to help stop the cravings? What did you try to do to take your mind away from the cravings???? Forget your peace pipe..forget nicorette and think self-help. If you don't try other things (physically) then you won't help yourself. Do all the things you love and remove these last crutches from your sides, Erme. Believe me YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Pills and potions don't come into it anymore, it's what you do and you CAN!!!! Go forward and stay there Erme..for me..before I turn white over night!!!!! :(

Perplexed and bewildered, Sue  ..at least I think I'm Sue..? Anyone??

I just increased my spray and decreased my e-cig sue. The spray is not my favourite method but has it's uses...

Please don't think I do this without any crutches hun....

I do need them but my meds can make the cravings worse (have discovered that in the past)

I've said this 101 times that when the cravings were bad I just upped the spray and distracted. I'm now challenging myself to go without nicotine when out and about which is hard but fun :j

I sincerely hope you do decrease your e-cig, Erme as I'm sure you'd fnd it much easier to gradually get down then off everything! I'm aware that it takes time, but it's do-able.

Have a look at the PM I sent you and at the tips.

Thinking of you, you know that, Sue xx

  • Hey Guys,

Just checking in to let you all know that I am still on the wagon and clocking up 2 weeks today!

Feel so much better for it. I still can’t believe that a book can have this much of an effect. I don’t have any cravings and even when I am around other smokers I find myself smiling inside as I am no longer a slave to them demon fags like they are, (in a nice not nasty way).

I am struggling with my weight a little but this was a problem before I quit so it a thing that I need to address and quickly. I already do a lot of exercise, my problem seems to be with portion control. I know this so need to do something about it now. My water intake is around 3 ltrs a day so I am well flushed out!

Anyway, life is so hectic at the moment with Christmas coming up so I haven’t had time to read through the thread but good luck to everyone.
    Just little old me!
