Hi guys
Not been around much - been busy busy... but have notched up 2 weeks today and am well chuffed!
It's quite weird how after only a short time being a non smoker (how i love those words) i feel so much better both mind and body..and my teeth have never looked whiter:D...not sure if it's all in the mind or what:rotfl:
It's taken a bit of catching up on the thread - and i'll apologise for being rubbish with names so forgive me if i don't mention everyone individually..but huge welcomes to all the new people and good luck you can do this x
Massive well done to the guys who've made it to bigger milestones..reading your posts keeps me going no end.
I agree with Sue - Champix not good on an empty stomach - def need something - i usually aim for a piece of toast before i leave the house cos i hate eating first thing in the morning and that's about all i manage to get down at 6.30am ..lol
Have been keeping really busy to stop the snacking so hope i can limit the wieght gain to around half a stone & i'm off to Zumba class tonight.
Will try to be online a bit more - (it's the start of Christmas dinners at work this week - will be rushed off mi feet & thoroughly fed up of turkey by next;))
Hugs to all

:hello:
Hi guys,
Only been on the site a few days and just discovered this wonderful thread! I'm currently about 5 weeks smoke-free using nicotine patches and the inhalator through the NHS stop smoking service, so everything on prescription at the minute.
also, girl_withno_name I am also experiencing problems with my sleep - mainly not being able to fall alseep and waking very early. Have been reassured by the smoking nurse that this is normal - part of the chemical change in your body (so I'm told).
Would be lovely to have some encouragement from fellow MSE'ers trying to/successfully give up

Just giving myself a fanfare and checking in to say that I'm THREE YEARS NICOTINE FREE! (I used Champix).
I'm really proud to say that and actually never thought I could do it!
To everyone giving up yesterday, today and tomorrow - it is soooo worth it - not always easy - take it a day at a time to start with - you can get there in the end.
High five Sue UU! x0 -

Hi Chrissie and aren't you doing well, so soon too! TWO weeks freedom is amazing and every reason to be chuffed - I know I was when I'd got that far as it's a heck of a achievement.
I honestly don't think the teeth and skin change is 'in the mind', my Dentist noticed so that says a lot!!!Some folk suffer dreadfully because of the oxygen not getting to the gums, so bad that they need them ALL out!
keep it up, Chrissie, you're fairing amazingly well!

Hi there LittleMissKirsten and a warm welcome to a great life ahead! Take notice of what your Nurse says with the sleeping as, for a while, it does disturb our sleep - but like all things concerned with life after smoking - the bad ones soon disappear and the good ones get GREATER! :j
This is a great thread and we'll support and help you all the way through, promise!I gave up almost 13 years ago and love helping out here. I happen to know you're saving
so it might be really helpful if you save all the money you would otherwise have burned (!!) in a pot..unless of course you have needs to be met; either way it will be marvellous!
Stay strong, focused and busy and keep chatting to us! You're never alone, for sure.

Brilliant to see you back on SPC, JD, I'm really pleased that you've had such lovely time and without those horrible white sticks to walk outside with! Heck, that sounds awful, but you know what I mean!
You're picking up well on the time passed - suerb!!! I was so delighted to see your Total earlier - you're doing amazingly!

No comments about the flippin TV, Daz, you don't want to listen to them...unless it's about the government, it's always true then...downhill 'n all!!!
Morning Erme, have you ever tried any relaxation techniques? If not, do so as I reckon it would do you the world of good, truly!
Sue x
Relaxation might be an option. I think have a book somewhere on various techniques (don't know). I am also doing mindfulness with my community nurse.. And I think I have a relaxation CD on my MP3 player.... So yeah....
I listened to classic fm the first night then UCB and last night I took one extra pill and then listened to Premier all night...
Still waking at 6.30 though when I want a lie inthen can't get back to sleep
.... Could be the reduction in spray. Don't know....is that a possibility Sue? I am reducing the spray but vaping about double (don't know. Had so many leaks and the carto died after a day so really don't know. Will try and keep tabs on it though
)

As Sue said - it's really not in your mind re the teeth. About 4-6 weeks after I quit I was at the hospital (my normal p ward for a visit) and the nurse asked me if I'd had my teeth done lately !!! That's how much of a difference it makes....So yeah - enjoy

Morning Erme,
I truly wouldn't think that reducing the spray would have that much effect on sleeping. Whatever outdoor exercise you do now, step it up a gear and make yourself as physically tired as possible - that'll help more than anything. I'll send you a relaxation PM then you can have a go at the things I suggest when you wake up; if it doesn't help you get back to sleep, it might relax you more anyway and then in the long term will help with your sleep.
Don't forget though Erme one of these days when you can say ta ta to your peace pipe you'll be much, much better off when you're not ingesting nicotine in your body. I won't just be medically either, it'll do so much for you mentally; it really did change me completely!!
Take care!
