Wooyay, went to the pub with my best mate today, although it wasn't busy the football was on and I managed to not even think about smoking, I also managed to stay off the beer too. 1 half of coke. Not the best thing to drink on a diet but I fancied some sugar. Should have had OJ like everyone mentions on here.

Just had a nice roast (ish) tonight, got to drive home soon. So signing off for now and see you all later :)

WOWZERS! What a lovely welcome! Thank you so much for making me feel warm and fuzzy inside - you have all made me smile! Thank you!
I always struggle with the first 1 in the morning and when I come home from work...Im am now on maternity leave so have found that 3pm onwards has been hard and Im 99% sure I would have caved in already, but posting here and on a weight loss surgery forum I belong to has helped as I dont want to report how rubbish I am if I caved!
I will read the threads you guys have mentioned and hopefully find some tips for times like now, when Im just sat slobbing watching TV :)
Thank you all again - made me smile - really :D

Hi Sally, it may be beneficial for you to change what you do around that time, plan your afternoon and evening, if you feel really bad take a long bath or shower, pamper yourself, you deserve it :j

Its a nice feeling when that happens, when you realise you can still go out and not worry about the ciggies, well done

Below are some links that make interesting reading............cravings etc

(Sally there's a bit about changing habits - as Ross said. It may be helpful to have a read. Have you ever knitted/crochet? It may be a distraction for you.

Well done! I bet you'd have been out for a ciggie or 2 before.............as Ross said it really is great when you can face situations like that and NOT be thinking about/craving cigs the whole time.

  • Hi all,
Well after 9 days, of which 3 were on 1st step patches, 5 days on step 2 patches, I took the plunge today and used a step 3 patch. I was worried when I saw it as it is tiny compared to step 2 patch.

Anyway, having had it in since very early this morning I have to say I haven't noticed much difference. There was a quick 'nico crave' after Sunday dinner at the local pub - easily sorted with a couple of puffs on the empty inhalator thuogh.

Coming out of the pub though was awful - straight through the 'fag fog' of smokers - to think I was one of them only a matter of days ago!!.

The stage 3 patch wasa bit of an experiment - I was expecting it to be difficult as it was a 50% cut in Nico from 14mg to 7 mg over the 24 hours the patch is on, but it has been relatively painless so far.

I downloaded the silk quit meter, most striking thing is the amount saved - £98.12 in 9 days (I was on 40+ cigs per day). I log into my bank account daily now and transfer £10.50 every day to my holiday fund.

Good luck to all those who have quit and despite me originally thinking how difficult it was going to be the money saved is a stark reminder of how much money I burned away.

    Hi everyone

Managed day 4 ok, not told anyone yet apart from
my dh & ds2. Due to attend my brothers wedding on 28 jan, my mum told me I would nevermanage to give up, it is my incentive to prove her wrong on the 28th.

Cravings have not been too bad, throat is not as dry. I too passed some smokers today and was quite shocked at the smell. Still keeping busy and walking the dog alot. This thread has really helped me too. It is so friendly, supportive and motivating.

Well done to everyone else that is suceeding.
