Hi Kahunababy! Well done on returning to the fold and every best wish that you'll be ok this time and make it through. :) What can I possibly say that JD hasn't already, apart from IF..IF..IF you're ever in that position again where old nick tries to tempt you back........go to bed with Alan again!!!! :rotfl:

Keep focused and remember that feeling of nothingness in your last fag, they hold othing for you anymore! Do as JD did, imagine a jar filled with dirty, filthy fag ends with a small amount of water - now take a virtual sniff - disgusting eh?!!!! :(

All the best and I do hope the cold's not better until you've quit, Sue x Just joking...sort of!!! :grinheart

    Very well said JD!!! :T

When I posted my teaser at work I didn't been that I'd succumbed to the weed, but to my terrible shopping habit.

When I first stopped, I promised myself that I'd put all the money that I'd otherwise spend on cigs to one side, and buy nice things that I want for ME.

A few weeks ago a bought myself a nice little camera, and I've been having loads of fun with it. Since then I've been saving for a new laptop. I've known what I've wanted, and I've been keeping my eyes on the prices. That was until yesterday when this arrived in the office:

    P1000232.jpg

The mail order maverick in me had been busy:

    P1000233.jpg

    Yes it's a ThinkPad box

    P1000234.jpg

    With a ThinkPad inside

    P1000235.jpg

Look it even runs Windows 7 Professional:

    P1000239.jpg

Although my inner-geek has put something more exciting on it already.

In reality I haven't actually saved enough to buy this just yet - but the price was a lot lower than I've seen it elsewhere (about £80 cheaper), and I couldn't resist it. If I was really good I'd put this away until I had saved the money (which would take me until 7th December, but I'm typing this on it now.

I am being good - I haven't smoked, and I'm on day 58, and now I'm pretty much signed up for the next 30 days...if I slip you have permission to inflict much harm and humiliation on me!!!

Am downloading as we speak...Long time (like about 5 years) since I've used mint but what's it like on a mac?

Oh what a beauty, davey!!!:grinheart I first thought you'd caved and I was so disappointed, but at least I'm breathing normally again now you've explained.

I wouldn't normally entice anyone to buy what they can't afford, but I'm a great advocate of "treat yourself, it's a great incentive". Plus you're doing so well with your quit and fellahs usually do much better than we gals so, all being well, you'll keep battling on - and succeed!!!

However, if there's any butt-kicking that needs doing I'll be the first in line...so beware and be good! It really is a beautiful bit of kit though and...yes..you do deserve it, so stay true to yourself and enjoy your ThinkPad, a great present! Good to see you! :)

Aww thanks so much, Maz. It's still very stiff, but then that's why I've so much physio to do so I can little by little loosen it up. I'm still working at the hand too, but reckon that'll take a very long time IF it ever comes back to normal. Thanks a lot, Maz. :)

I's ok Erme, twas I. ;) As soon as I saw that flame thrower of yours I just knew you'd need taking care of before it set light to MSE and the thread. Glad you're feeling better...see..it worked and He listened up as normal. ;)

Hi there JD! No, I wouldn't mind you saying about the time and metod used being put on folk's Title Bars, I tried a gentle hint this morning, but di it work? Did it heck as like! :( VERY well done JD, you're doing marvellously, keep hard at it as at least you have that really huge bench-mark out of the way!!!! :T At least you aren't having a puff or more either! :T ;)

Best wishes everyone and no excuses for a you know what!!!!

    Sue x

Och I haven't had one since yesterday :T...keep up your 'magic powers' (code word for prayer) Sue and I'll love you as a sister even more...thanks so much like I said..sometimes that's really what I need and it helps so much :D I covet folks prayers at times...cos they make like a HUGE difference...

Bit worried about how much nicorette I'm using on top of the e-cig and am skint and going to run out any day soon. I use it when I can't use the e-cig like church and things but I wonder if I can just the plastic inhalator instead which is a lot cheaper the amount I use (like £8 worth will last me about 4 weeks rather than £17 a week ) so Sue work your magic on that one hun...

Spoke to community nurse about cig blip and she was fine with it. She said 'relapses happen' and at least you're back on the e-cig now....so she was really cool. So don't know whether to say I'm 2 months (just over) quit or not? What do folk reckon (bearing in mind I had my relapse at 2 months and one day)...

This is the first time I used Mint for any length of time, I was a big Ubuntu fan, but have fallen out of love with it over the last couple of years. It felt as though it was just becoming too bloated, and I just didn't like the new Unity desktop...Oh and Linux operating systems are FREE!!!

...Anyway back on topic, day 62:)

This Monday makes 7 weeks and the following Monday will be TWO MONTHS!

    Thats a bit of a milestone, :)

Bad weather (unable/unwilling to do any work) caused a bit of a relapse and the cravings went higher than usual but still stayed strong. Boiled sweets to the rescue. :(

I am fully refurbing a property and I was SUPPOSED to be moving in before Xmas but that is looking less likely now as any job needs a lot of concentration and THAT has been difficult - hence the delay.

Still, I am feeling like the worst is over now!

Damn pity I didn't do this at beginning of Summer as I could have gone cycling to help build up stamina.

Gym next year perhaps. We'll see. :)

Keep it up everyone. It is surviveable.

Young Sue UU, you are amazing for what you are doing here.

I reckon you've earned your wings.:)

You keep on thinking of me like that, Erme and I shall do the same with you. :) I believe in the power of prayer too, you know that, so I'll have daily ones for you to stay away from fags and..above all, to stay calm.

You've got me in a right dilemma as with anyone else I'd be advising that it was far too big a blip! :naughty: Really, as you probably know, you should be back to square one, but knowing you and your situation I think it would work against you and possibly put you back to the fags again and that would be terrible and I'd hate myself!! :embarasse

Press on as you are dear Erme, you deserve another chance, but from here on...please, please think twice before lighting up! Drink water, have something sweet to up the blood sugars and pop "tapping and Paul Mckenna" into Google and have a go at what he gets folk to do when they come up against a smoking, eating or any other craving - it DOES work - so long as you and anyone else remembers to do it!!! Aslo, buy yourself some Ice Pops/Poles and suck on them to cool you down and allow time to think beautiful thoughts. :D

Never let other folk knock you off the quitting perch, Erme, they don't have the right to...and you should NOT be allowing them to - EVER!!!!

Love and hugs, Sue :kisses3: PS. Can you not retrieve your CD-Rs from the rubbish/recycling? If not do something relaxig and don't worry anymore about the disks til next week.

Copy the piece below off and take heed of it at times when you know you should.

    'Every Little Helps'

Smokey Thinking I just need one cigarette to take the edge off these cravings :(

Clear Thinking Cravings become weaker and less frequent with every day that I don’t smoke. Even just one puff will feed the cravings and make them Stronger. :D

    Smokey Thinking It’s been a long day. I deserve a cigarette. :(

Clear Thinking I deserve a reward after a long day, but there are better rewards than a cigarette. A favourite meal, a funny movie, or a hot shower will help me relax without ruining my quit attempt. :D

Smoky Thinking :( The urge to smoke is just too strong. I can’t stand it.

Clear Thinking Even the strongest cravings last less than 3 minutes. The urge will go away whether I smoke or not, and smoking now will just make it even harder for me to quit later. I can find something else to do—anything—until the craving goes away. :D

    Smoky Thinking
I blew it. I smoked a cigarette. I might as well go ahead and finish the pack. :(

Clear Thinking I am still learning how to be a non-smoker. It’s normal to make some mistakes. But I don’t have to smoke that next cigarette. I can learn from this mistake and keep going. :D

    Smoky Thinking
I can’t deal with never being able to have another cigarette for the rest of my life. :(

Clear Thinking I only have to deal with today. Quitting happens one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time! The future will take care of itself. :D

Hi there rizla!!!! :hello:It's sooo good to see you again AND to see how wonderfully well you're doing!!!! Almost 2 months is fantastic, especially as you've been through a fair bit. Still, you're being so very sensible and looking at it all in the right way. I do hop you're so proud of yourself, rizla, you certainly should be and I am!!!! :T:j:T
Don't look back to the summer, now was the time for you to do it obviously so keep that in mind and keep right on looking ahead and keep at it day by day...proudly!!! :D Throughout refurbishing the house concentrate on how it'll never be tarnished with fag smoke..on how brilliantly you've done and......good health afore you!!!!!

Go on rizla, it's yours for the taking! Come back on Monday for the praise you may deserve ;)

Wings - me? So long as I'm helping folks like you a little bit, I'm happy, believe me! You want wings for me though? Well...:A

I would just like to say, for anyone thinking about stopping or who is having difficulty, I have managed it after smoking for around FORTY years.

I don't want 'pats on the back' or anything but if any of you are thinking, 'Oh, I'll never be able to stop, I've been smoking for such a long time', think again.

Worse still I have very little routine in my life as I dont have an employer and I normally roll out of bed betwen 8-9, have brekkie and then go on the WWW for a while before deciding to go and do more work (After yet ANOTHER Cuppa). THAT is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT than those of you that have a routine, I think you will find.

All I am trying to say, is that I doubt if it is any more difficult for you than it has been for me and, truly, I am nothing that special.

Just an ordinary smoker that enjoyed EVERY puff.

You may well have a point there, Erme, a reason why you're a bit on edge etc too. I'd always advise a coffee drinker to leave it off whilst stopping smoking as all too often the smoking and coffee, tea too, go hand in hand....pick up one and you automatically grasp for tother!

If you're a high coffee drinker, seriously, I'd settle for something else; if you did then I wouldn't mind betting you'd find life (and those in it) a lot easier to cope with, truthfully!

Give it a trial for a week and keep a diary and see how things go, what have you got to lose? ;) Less 'episodes' as well!

    Hugs, Sue xx

I really do relate to all you've said above, rizla. I also live a life where, because of health problems (totally unrelated to smoking), I spend most of my time indoors and if youre not socialising or working then you don't have so much to distract you. My hubby has always praised me for quitting because of my lifestyle - and - come December 25th I will have quit for 13 years! :D I just could not be happier and have absolutely NO regrets whatsoever - BUT - I would have plenty if I hadn't quit!!!

Anyone, if they are determined and really want to stop could someday be saying what I have above! Rizla will I'm sure! ;) So, to all those reading this thread do take note and - if you have quite a bit going on in your life - and even if you don't - you CAN quit and STAY QUIT!!! Anything's possible IF you try...if you don't try you won't ever make it!

Have a lovely Sunday folks and stay focused and strong!

thanks sue...Yeah I had to reduce with new anti depressants and I think I might try and reduce further the next few weeks and get completely off. Even if it's just by one cup a week or something? mr L and mr al do a nice decaf and I can always drink tea or something...

Otherwise I can't see how they can reduce my meds and I'm already getting one shaky arm with the meds so quite keen to get them reduced
