  • 3 weeks and 2 days smoke free - champix

For the first time since stopping smoking, I went out on Saturday night and had a few glasses of wine. And although at times I thought 'I could do with a fag', it didn't really bother me at all. Even when DH went out for a smoke.

Congratulations to all you who remain smoke free. You are an inspiration!

O2b how are you getting on? Are you going to smoking cessation today... Have you managed to stay off them?

Well......I'm still vaping on the wee one (the one on the lanyard) and praying my 3.7v with big batteries comes soon...

Bit better night's sleep but not fab - and now - shock horror - I've put the heating on (though it's still below 20c in the flat) so only on for today or till sleep pattern is fixed and then like it's off again :money:

Of course something wacky happened to the batteries on the wee one in the charger last night (think one fell out mid charge) so like that's a panic if ever there was one LOL...

And once I've tried out the repaired big one I'm going to sell it :money:....cheap plastic it is LOL

Only snag is now I've pulled something in my calf jogging. Can't take diclofenac so will have to buy paracetamol today :A

But eating is getting better - though weighing self no better but no worse...

Hi jammy, Just popped in & realise that you slipped & are brave enough to give up. All the very best - you really gave me so much help.

All the best everyone out there - I did it & have been stopped for 1 year 8 months after a 32 year heavy habit & never believed I could stop. I don't miss it & wonder now how I found the money to do it.

    Evening all!

Just signing on quickly to say Hello, well done, keep going!

So so good to see you, Jammy. You helped me so very much, not only with your advice, but also with your enthusiasm even though you were going through a very difficult and life changing time. Thank you!

Also Hello to choille - the same goes for you - thank you for your support to help me to stop smoking.
Well done on your 20 months!

Below is something that donnaessex originally posted in August 2010 - I amended it slightly, printed it out and kept reading it...........was a HUGE help to me.

I hate having to make sure I've got enough fags for the day.

I hate having to shove a packet in my (already) overstuffed bag.

I hate going into the shops asking for 20 cigs and pretending they're not mine.

I hate not wanting to talk to people because my breath stinks of smoke.

I hate that I spend at least £15 a week on something I set fire to.

I hate HAVING to get up 10 minutes earlier so that I can have a cigarette before I get in the shower and then wake my son.

I hate that I have to sit in the garden in the snow and rain.

I hate that I can't sit still after eating a meal.

I hate getting stressed in the morning just because I havent had my tea and fag yet.

I hate being so secretive about my smoking - only a few people know I smoke - I lie to my family.

    Hi Erme,
Thank you for thinking of me.
I have not had a cigarette since stopping taking the Champix on Friday.
I did go to smoking cessation clinic and all they could offer me was a nicotine replacement.......I figure that I have no nicotine in my body after 19 days so why replace it????
    So I refused that.

I am now trying sheer willpower but today is the 8th birthday of my 1st Granddaughter but she is not here to celebrate it as she died in a car accident when she was 3.
I always have a bad time this time of year and I haven't stopped crying for the last couple of days.......just hoping I can hold it together.

    Thanks for your support :)
