Hi everyone.
I have been having the most terrible side effects from the Champix.
Feeling violent sick all day and night
Crying for no reason
Feeling unworthy
Craving a cigarette really really badly (I thought they stopped the craving things in your brain)
It has got so bad that I am not eating for fear of being sick.
So I went to the Doctors and asked the No Smoking nurse if how I am feeling is OK. She has told me to stop the tablets straight away and make another appointment.
I have an appointment on Tuesday but am I going to make it to Tuesday without succumbing to the cigarettes?
I could easily smoke one now and am finding it extremely difficult to not give in.
Well we shall see.

one month 2 days Patch and oral combo
O2bFree - Sorry Champix hasn't worked for u. How long have u been on it? It isn't for everyone. Had feelings very much like u when on it. Is there another smoking cessation group near u or could u buy some NRT to stop u going back on the cigs? Local shop that sells something like gob stoppers or aniseed balls? Just wanted to encourage u hon and let u know ur not alone. Wish i could come and give u a big hug. Just because champix hasn't worked, there is plenty out there that may help, u just need to find the right thing for u. Don't feel like a failure, god knows I have failed many many times in the past, but just keep on trying.
JD- Soooooooooooo True!
Sue - Hope all went well with the op hon
New pills are working great for mornings here. Wake up with virtually no stiffness in the joints. Wears off about 10:30 to 11 am tho, but wayhay, anything is an improvement. Pins n needles are wearing off in the hands too :j:j:j:j Might need to go back to docs and get something extra for thru the day, but hey ho onwards and upwards!
On the no smoking front, I've been getting some mega cravings!!!! But it's one more day I haven't given in :T:T Sucking on my aniseed balls like crazy :rotfl: got my patch on and having the occasional spray of the oral spray. Should get cut down to weaker patches next week. EEEEEEEK- Dunno if i'm ready for it or not, but will give it a go, if i feel I'm needing more, I can always use the spare box in the house I have of the stronger patch cos I forgot to put it on for a few days.
Have ordered myself some knitting needles and crochet hooks to give me something to do with my hands. Hopefully I'll remember what to do :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Oh bless you, Erme, you leave us with such delightful images! Thanks for that!
Why weigh at night when you've undigested food in the stomach and too much fluid hanging around in there. Always weigh first thing in the morning....and do so ONCE a week so the body had time to shift the excess you're trying to get off!!! That way you get a proper reading.
ATB, Sue xx
Och yes me and my scales...I weigh myself when I've been for a pee...trying to avoid the tea time weighs but they keep creeping up on me. Not least cos I've been paranoid and not eating :eek:Shadydaz - That's the general idea! Open the bag and u won't want a cig!
Jennyo - Keep it up!! How long have u stopped for?
*EDIT* just seen your signature *D'OH* Can't wait to say I've stopped for that long
Kahuna - As Davey's said, don't beat yourself up about it. I've lost count of the amount of times I've failed to quit. But end up back here when I feel the time is right. If you feel u can go cold turkey then feel free to do it, but remember there is help available if u need it. Although, I still think most of it is psychological (eek big word alert!). When u see that I've saved 8 days of patches in the space of a month.... But when I know I've got my patch on, I can give it a wee rub when I want a smoke and it reminds me I'm doing the right thing :rotfl:
Well I've been to the doctors, just wish my appointment was for yesterday so she could have seen me in as much pain as I was in, she's changed all my medication and signed me off "work" for 4 weeks, which is a bit iffy as I've been out of work since i got medically retired from being a postie back in March. Seems I now have to bite the bullet and come off of JSA and go onto ESA for a few weeks anyhoo. So I'm armed with some fresh NRT, co-codamol, amitriptyline and naproxen. So hopefully the new combination should sort things out for me. Still unsure about the amitriptyline with them being an antidepressant too, but I've been in so much pain over the past few days I'll try anything.
Onwards and upwards!!! Keep up the good work everyone
Och try not to worry about the amitriptyline....if it helps the pain all well and good. Sorry you're so pants...HugsHi everyone.

You know what hun.....If you smoke you smoke - there's tuesday. If you don't save the money and treat yourself on Monday...Simple...it sounds like the champix was more hassle than it was worth and my heart goes out to you...
as for me
Yesterday the new big battery e-cig came only it was faulty. Now I don't write on envelopes that often anymore so I'm trying to print the label and I'm hungry (bad combo) and discover my beloved £12 charity shop printer is DEAD...changed the cartridges, the works...dead...
Poor overdraft got beaten over the head by 2pm....Debated going to PC rip off. So glad I didn't - though still paid £40 more than I should have....
So yeah - fortunately the e-cig stuff came out savings and what not otherwise it'd have been even worse of a week... I should only be on e-cig for 1-2 years and after a while the juice (nic liquid) should get cheaper as I dilute it with stuff from Boots. (89p for loads). So when I lower my nic/ml it'll get cheaper after a wee while. Eventually I want just to be vaping the stuff from boots and only when stressed
The printer is great for mono - not so great for card toppers. Takes forever to print off a page of card toppers (I take my own photos, print them off on card and then make cards - any word processing package should enable you to do this. I also use a trimmer that cost about £30 as it's more accurate and quicker and less likely to go blunt than wavy scissors that only lasted about 100 cards). It's not a which best buy (couldn't get my head round which cos I was so hungry ) but it's fine and it takes individual cartridges which when you're printing off a mixture is best. The budget was £100 (cos that's what I paid for my last decent printer that I bought new) and the girl took £5 off to help me stick to budget :T....
So now I have to figure out how to sort the OD. I kid yet not the macbook will be paid off (and at this rate the loan too) before the overdraft is paid off...

Erme LOL! I'm not pants just a wee bit off lol
Although I did treat meself to new pants today with my no smoking fund :rotfl:
Tell me more about mixing ur own ejuice plz4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
well at the risk of giving Sue a coronary (which I don't want to do)
Basically I have an e-juice calculator (you can get them for pc or iphone/android) and I work out what I need of nicotine (5%), flavours and glycerine/vodka mix (cos I don't like too much glycerine so I mix it 75:25 with the vodka and it has to be vodka or deionised water...No baileys hun)..
Now if I were to vape pure 5% that would be 52mg/ml - way too much so I dilute it down...
Put the nic in a wee chemist measuring cup or just 5ml oral syringe (from chemist)...put in 50ml bottle (childproof) from chemist...
Then add flavouring (normally 1-2ml approx from an e-cig site. Normal food flavourings are too oily as a general rule) and the glycerine/vodka mix (per ml stated on e-cig calculator) then put top on on my 50ml and mix...
When I want to top up my daily bottle I just draw it out of the 50ml bottle with the oral syringe. I think I use one 5ml and one 1ml oral syringe and a 20ml medicine cup...
Now you have to be careful (really careful) not to OD on the 5% stuff so like wear plastic gloves and an apron and don't do it whilst cooking the dinner....If it gets on your skin that could be REALLY dangerous..
But then I don't have kids...so alls good...wash hands after...
Works out so much cheaper than buying pre filled

I have an appointment on Tuesday but am I going to make it to Tuesday without succumbing to the cigarette
Have a chat to your local phamacist about a product to tyed you over until Tuesday. I recommend the nicorette micro lozenges. They cost about a fiver a pack...still cheaper than a pack of cigarettes0 -
This link might be useful to people thinking the e-cig doesn't work
http://allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=private&action=display&thread=3645
The guys has completely come off the e-cig and is not smoking (apologies he's the board hunk)
Which got me thinking....
You know how many probs I've had with my equipment this week (and it's cost me a small fortune ).....well I tried my first proper e-cig last night and wondered what was wrong with it....Thought it was the voltage - or the vape? But now realise it's kind of the voltage but it's also the throat hit. Playing with my big one I actually get less vape than the wee one but a better throat hit (the tingly feeling on your tongue from these things and other NRTs like the inhalator)...
So forget extra nasal sprays (costs way too much)...now going on the inhalator for extra throat hit....
I figure if nicotine is not that addictive I might even try going on the inhalator full or a good part time soon - just 1-2 cartridges a day...see how I get on?
should be interesting....but interesting to see what I'm addicted to also right now. Sure it's psychological but still...
And the inhalator is like WAY cheaper on ebay than the nasal spray....

Mazza111, Erme, Jammy dodger and daveys.
THANK YOU!
I've decided to take the sheer will power option.
I figure that I have got to day 16 of not smoking and there shouldn't be any nicotine in my body so it is just habit that I need to conquer.
From today I am telling myself that I am a non-smoker NOT an ex-smoker.
