You please yourself what you do, rizla, just always remember we're here if you want us, and as JD says, it'll be good to hear from you now and again....a boost for others too. IF you get any difficult times then please come on back and tell us, never give into any thoughts, it's never worth it. Congratulations on the 2 plus weeks, those kiddies will be soooooo proud of Granddad!!!! :kisses: See

Great news JD, great advice for others too! So, it was YOU that put all the fag butts in the jar to keep yourself reminded of the dirty little devils - I was only telling someone about that a couple of weeks or so ago about that, but couldn't remember who it was. Such a shame you tossed them, but there you go and you're right back on track again now!
Many congratulations daveys!!!!!! :T:T:T A beautiful shot and an excellent gift for someone who truly deserves to be rewarded for such amazing determination! We always recommend that folk treat themselves as it gives them a real buzz, not only at the knowledge that they CAN quit fags, but at the joy that there really are better things to do with our lives and money than to smoke!
The Laptop is a beauty, Lenovo is a good make and you'll get a lot of pleasure from that too...and so the list goes on!I've been free from fags for over 12 & 1/2 years and after 7 years I bought hubby & myself DSLRs and taken thousands of photos that have given us real joy!!! :j Amazing what you can do with the cash we used to set light to eh?!!!
By Christmas you'll really have deserved the lappie, so always make sure to keep on your guard and never get complacent. All the VERY best daveys!!!

Oh bless you, Erme, you leave us with such delightful images! Thanks for that!
Why weigh at night when you've undigested food in the stomach and too much fluid hanging around in there. Always weigh first thing in the morning....and do so ONCE a week so the body had time to shift the excess you're trying to get off!!! That way you get a proper reading.

I had a lung function test yesterday as part of a mini medical at working. I smoked for pretty much 14-15 years and am now 33, I stopped smoking 7 months ago and according to the test I have the lungs of a 49 year old. They are very much on the road to recovery now but there is a long way to go before they will be anywhere near normal again for my age. I am very much glad I stopped when I did and this info has reaffirmed my determination to remain smoke free forever.
Anyone who is thinking of stopping, or indeed just beginning their journey of not smoking, I hope this info provides you with even more motivation and determination in your quest.

It was my last visit to the Smokefree Clinic today, and just to proe I've stopped smoking I was given this:
The trick now is to stay stopped
Oh the camera's getting plenty of use as well0 -
well done daveys you should have your certificate framed :T:T, its fine having something to show for your "ash" money too
i now have have managed quite a few no spend days but no change to go in the sealed pot sue-uu but i know which i would r ather have
am enjoying spending time with very old friend not seen for 15 years or more and great to not have to go out side for a fag
( and i would of believed i thought it was through choice i smoked ...huh who was i kidding ..) Nice to be back in control again:D
i echo what sue-uu says about the weigh ins erme id rather do it weekly first thing in morning to track progress , i must confess i dont really undestand e cigs sounds very technical if it works for you that can only be a good thing hope its not a long term option for you as still sounds costly for you
thank you for your encouraging post shadydaz it just highlights the unseen damage ,but good to know we can change even well established bad habbits
i shall get around to posting a disgustin pic of my tabbie pot as a deterent to all and would wish you had smell-a -pc technology to put you off once and for good

Silk Quit Meter is now showing in Months :j:j:j:j One month showing today
No need JD. I have my tabby bag!!! Just open in when I need a reminder why I shouldn't smoke!!! The smell really builds up in there lol
well done Daveys :j:j:j
Erme- Echo what everyone else says. Weigh in once a week at the same time of day every week. Used to do it on a Wednesday morning as soon as I got out of bed and done the business so to speakI am not going to even step on the scales until I've got the weed beaten. It can be done at a later date.
Ooooh Rizla, sorry if you felt i said u should come back and support others, just meant, IF you need support you should pop back.
Got to go pick up my patches today and I have 8 still in the house!!! Good grief, one of these days I'll use them as they are supposed to be used. I have got about 4 nicorette oral sprays dotted around the house and car too, just in case. Haha, no matter where I go there will be a reminder to use that instead of a cig:rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Sneaking in to report on my epic fail!!!
Sorry guys but I broke and gave in to the dreaded weed. I thought I could get away with just having a couple during a night out for my friends hen night. How wrong could I be! 5 days later I am right back where I started.
I am so angry and disappointed with myself.I have let myself down and my kids (not to mention my OH). To make matters worse, I feel dreadful for it. I have no energy, terrible taste in my mouth, constant headache and I know this is all caused through smoking.
Anyway, I am back on here and looking for your support. I have set a new quit day for tomorrow and I have to do it for good this time. I have just been back to the library and got Alan Carr’ book back out and I am considering going to the Dr’s and seeing what she suggests. I would much prefer to go cold turkey again but I am terrified I will slip up again. I need to give myself the very best chance of succeeding this time.
You wouldn’t believe how angry I am with myself. I would be on day 35 by now, grrrrr. I think I am going to lay off the booze till Christmas time, got nothing planned coming up and I know this was my weak point so a few months of abstinence will do me (and my waist line) some good.;)
Never mind, got to put that behind me and move on I guess. Tomorrow is the start of the rest of my life, smoke free!
Well done to all who have kept up the good work.:TJust little old me!0 -

Don't beat yourself up over it...Losing a battle doesn't matter, just so long as you eventually win the war.
Also don't panic into an early quit. See your Dr and sort out the options, buy the book on Amazon (it's only the price of 1/2 packet of smokes), and don't forget that Xmas is on the way, with all the temptations that involves.
I found that getting used to the idea of stopping was as valuable as stopping itself. I had been gearing myself up to stopping for over a month, it was just the fact that one of my close colleagues stopped pushed me into setting my quit date.
You've done it before, and you can do it again. Don't think of your lapse as failure, but as a learning experience.
you can do it (and we'll all be here to support you)0 -
Just dropping in to see how every one is doing. I'm still going strong, wish I'd stopped years ago. Well done everyone.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb
