After a weekend of feeling like c**p I have reduced my dose of champix. I was on 1 mg twice a day but after lots of internet research I decided yesterday to go down to 1 mg once a day.
I haven't slept well since starting the champix. Waking every couple of hours evey night was beginning to take its toll. I work full time and have a 4 year old son so need my sleep. I started the day tired and was so exhausted by the end of the day I felt ill. I knew that Champix could interrupt sleep patterns but it was getting to be more than I could cope with. My job is vey stressful at the moment due to staff shortages, threatening redundancies and ever increasing pressures, so need to be able to relax and switch off when at home. However, every time I woke at night or in the early hours of the morning my brain starting thinking about everything. I would wake at 4am, couldn't get back to sleep so got up and started working!
Anyway, after talking to DH and reading a lot about Champix I decided to reduce my dose yesterday. And guess what - last night I had the best sleep ever! I still feel tired today but not the debilitating tiredness that I had at the weekend.
So am now over 2 weeks smoke free and over £50 better off!!
Thank you to eveyone here for your support.0 -
Erme hon, as I said, I wasn't having a go, whatever works for you. Can you get your nicorette nasal spray on prescription? Remember prescriptions are free in Scotland too. Although I would give this up for the sake of the kids getting their braces when needed.
Yeah but that would mean in effect lying as I would say I am quitting when right now I'm just trying to do whatever it takes to maintain my nic levels for 3 months before reducing...thanks so much for the words of advice and suport sue-uu. I've been eating a lot of sugary foods so will try and swap them out for something a bit more healthier as might be contributing to tiredness. Think I'll start throw OH out the back to smoke so i cant smell it in the house or have to watch him smoke and maybe he'll cut down a bit if he has to go outside in the rain lol. I will be trying my best to stick with it as i dont want to let myself down.
Yeah sounds like a good plan..... He'll still stink after a few weeks though of you not smoking. See my earlier posts. And as for the weight loss. Yeah get your thyroid checked out. But also try http://www.sparkpeople.com for a really cheap (like free) online dietand it's just healthy eating and there's loads of support... It's like WW but free :A
Well the next wee bit is - sorry guys - a cut and paste
Currently the house is stinking of epoxy due to trying to repair my e-cig (it was cheaper than sending it away though now I think I should have as the wires are not soldered into the connector for the mouthpiece)...
Made a lovely sunflower roast on Saturday and it does 6 portions...Yum...Had it with pots (out of a tin) and frozen peas and gravy... Yum yum yum...No mayo. Mayo really is my downfall right now. So have gotten in pittas and salad and houmous for lunch. Hopefully that should be better for me
And need to start cooking again for self so that's this week's target. Never mind therapy routines. Cooking..
So yeah that's me......Weight down by 1.5 lbs from Thursday (2.5 from yesterday)...going to quit the tea time weights cos I have like no idea of whether they're good or bad. I just can't work it out. Sometimes I weigh myself after my bath before I eat, sometimes after. It's just too much of a headache... Would rather just weight middle of the night, half dehydrated after toilet before water..

Fantastic news about 2 weeks free, rizla!!!!! :T:T D'you feel any better now?
Hi Erme, whyever not weight yourself in the mornings, after paying a visit to the bathroom? It's the best time to get the minimum weight.
Morning Lucy and well done on reducing the Champix, I nearly suggested it the other day as you were having such sleep problems, but it's difficult when you haven't had/used the drug yourself. I'm thrilled to bits you had such a great night's sleep though! All the very best on getting your life back to normal from here on as, lets face it, it'll making quitting far, far easier if you're not so shattered.
Well done Lucy, your DH for helping you too!

good afternoon
sounds like folk are making good steady progress on their journeys a very well done should be sooooooo proud ,
aint it great not being a slave to the white stick , and amazin after just a few days free , am already aware of that stench tobacco leaves on others who come in from having a fag
last time ( and i know i wont dwel lon it ) i bottled up all those disgusting tabbies i had left by my back step and kept em in a jar ...(see far too cocky i threw it out after 6 months plus) it was a great visual efffect and deterent so have been round and collected all the waste again ...yuk... this time shall remmeber to keep it , truly revolting but for me effective
am doin fine taking each day as it comes , and though i never announced to the world ( well just the millions on mse) about my quit , folk at work have noticed and their support has been encouraging too
great to be able to post and vent on here and the support is fabulous
i have the spare bedroom to sort this afternoon as i have a very dear friend coming tomorrow from the states and i have nt seen her since school days ( yes so quite some time ) want her to feel welcome so off to route out a clout and vacuum ...cleaning is also a w elcome distraction and a much needed one here lol

4weeks £344 not spent on fags
BH 1 weeks (ish)
DD-Champix can be quite bad for not letting you sleep, but then so can stopping smoking. So can be hard to decide which is which. But if you can manage on the lower dose, well done you!!!
BH has decided he'll be quite happy to be a weekend smoker, when he's had a beer, I'm quite happy for him to do that as he's the type of person who can do that, so fair play to him.
4 weeks, who'd have thought it!!! And haven't had a patch on since Friday! It wasn't intentional, just kept forgetting to put them on. Feel I may get by now on my oral spray without the patches. Will still collect them from chemist, so that if needed I can stay on NRT a wee bit longer than the program allows for, only IF needed tho
Rizla - Well done on the 2 weeks. No need to stay away just cos you've made it tho, if u feel the support on here helps, keep popping in
JD :T:T:T
Sapanga - So hard when your OH is smoking in house when you're trying to quit, I was in the same position 4 weeks ago. BH would always ask if it was ok to smoke, and as he was out in the cold and rain all day working, I told him to go ahead and smoke indoors, just made myself busy when he was having a smoke by doing dishes, or making a cuppa, having a quick shower, basically doing anything that involved water. But u can do it, if I can anyone can. If the time is right for you then u will do it, Good Luck!!!
Good Luck to everyone else either starting or continuing on their journey. And a big thanks to Sue for all the support she offers everyone on here. You're a wee diamond!!!:T:T:T:T4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Hi again.
Just wanted to say Sue, that I don't feel any better but I am a grumpy old sod by nature so take no notice of that.
Two weeks Cold Turkey!!!
Its got to be harder and more painful so i expected a rougher ride - but hopefullly quicker.
Also wanted to add that I feel a little selfish. been here and used this thread then abandoned it when there are others that need support.
My thoughts are that for the while at least, i want to try to FORGET my habit and move forward so its bury head in sand time for me.
Perhaps I'll come out of hibernation after the Winter.
As the man said .... "I'll be back!!"
Huge thanks to all."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
you have done fantastically well rizla01
please dont feel selfish at all , please do pop by and let us know how you are getting along and please please please if EVER tempted to " just have a wee puff " DONT DON'T DON'T
( i speak from experience ) rememeber all your hard work to get this far , and if ever tempted , come back and read here , post here , whatever but dont reach for the fag ....never a solution and will never make you feel better
we all wish you well and a long , happy , richer life ahead

It's day 29 for me, and I've saved almost £150.
In my first post on this thread I said I was putting all the money I've saved to one side to buy myself nice things...So on my way home from work today I dropped into Jessops and spent £90 on a new camera...and this is my first picture:
Buying something material and that I've wanted for a while has made me feel really good about myself, and even more determined to carry on.
There's still almost £60 in the kitty, and this is going towards my new super-duper laptop, which depending on special offers I might be able to buy before Christmas (that'll be my Xmas pressie to myself). Even if I can't find the deal I want in December, I've certainly have it by the New Year.
If anyone is remotely interested...this is what I'm after
Good luck everyone :T
ETA If anyone's in the market for a new camera, there are some really good deals on Lumix kit atm. My FS14 is currently 1/2 price, and is the best price I could find on Google Shopping
***Waits for someone who's found it cheaper :rotfl:0 -
Well yesterday was full of whoopsies with the VV connector dying (the bit you put the mouthpiece on) and could have been so easily remedied for 20% of the price as my mod maker (e-cig maker) has offered to fix it for me for £3....so will send it to him as soon as I get his address. And then it'll be happy days
Spent about £63 on a new big battery e-cig and 50 mouthpieces (they only last a day) - oops...the mouthpieces I need for my wee one as they are better at lower voltages (the higher the voltage the more vape you get or smoke).... Dang now WHY did I pay for 100 high voltage mouthpieces last week
Anyhow just a quick pop in before computer class..
Didn't weigh last night. Just can't get my head round evening weigh ins....:(
So pointless stressing myself out and 2 weighs a day is getting a bit eating disorder ish.......better just to weigh once a day first thing am butt naked after toilet (even if weigh in is 3 in the am)
