smoking is habit and routine led, "I'll do such and such then have a smoke" or vice versa its breaking that cycle and association , night shift is pretty much routine led as were the "fag" breaks " so my foxes will interupt that cycle also have me tooth brush to brush away if i get twitchy

Oh what a great choice JD. Foxes are mostly nocturnal so the perfect ally to guard you whilst on night shift.

THIS TIME JD....this time! :jBTW, you do it via cold turkey, right? So, try the "Quitter's pledge" at the problem times

Tell yourself every morning (or necessary moment) "I'm not going to smoke at all today, but if I wish to, I may smoke tomorrow." Repeat that pledge every morning, it tricks your mind and makes things more bearable to do it in bitesizes.

Go forward JD.....you'll win through, you know you don't want in any other way. ;)

That's TERRIFIC news, caracara!!! :T:T I never thought it was THAT long, so congratulations and keep right on doing what you have been as it's quite obviously perfect for you. :D

    Sue x

You're so right, Part Mouse, but you've done it before and know you can most certainly get there again. :D The secret is staying free even if things don't go right...after all another fag/packet or lifetime of smoking will never, ever make things right...but freeing yourself from the fags always keeps you a step ahead and ready for the next venture - rather than needing to start all over again once more. Go on, K, fight to achieve your dreams AND to have the cash to enable you to do so.

    10 days now.

Bought some tictacs for those moments.

Better than a whole boiled sweet but only needed once or twice a day so the tictacs will last. (haven't had one yet tho)

4 more days and it'll be a true holiday although it feels more like a sentence at times. :)

10 days 11 hours and feeling great the Champix its doing a great job.
I went out for the day yesterday and it involved a 90 minute car journey each way normally once arrived at the destination and I was out of the car I would smoke 2 cigarettes immediately! No problem yesterday and neither was it necessary to leave the building to have a smoke.
So all in all I am delighted Its also easier to walk without pain so I assume my circulation is improving wish really pleases me, because I don't want to LOSE MY LEG
Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Since first using Martins I have saved thousands

I discovered today, how much tiredness plays a huge part in bringing on the desire for a puff.

    Couldn't shake off the unease!

I was able to just chill today - That helped a bit.

Quite easy - There were steps leading to the waters edge, BUT tide was in and I got showered a few times plus I was having to shoot thru railings to get the angle.

Anyway. Now I've shown you mine, how about showing me yours? :)

Seriously, do you have your pics on view anywhere? I would be very interested to see them.

Pref that you PM me, :)

Also, I like everything that smells girly too.

Don't have many good pics online as like I'm scared of them being nabbed and copyright abuses taking place...

Erme - Don't u think that's still a lot of money to be spending on nicotine? When you say nasal spray is that the nicorette one? Not having a go, whatever works for u. The reason I mentioned the ecigs I did was that it lets u test them to see if it's for you rather than coughing up a fortune for something u just don't like. I really don't like them enough to buy a full system like yours. But then I'm only having a quick puff on it in the morning and at night when there's no patch on.

    .

Mazza depends. I would easy spend £40 -45 a week alone on roll ups... So like the fact I've got about 3 months supply of e-cig stuff for about £200 is actually a saving... I need the stuff anyways...

This is what I've got/am getting

    2 months of e-cig liquid = £42
3 months of cartomisers (where you put the liquid in) = £70
    Nicorette for 2 months = £44

    total = £130...

Glycerine for diluting it is so cheap (89p for about 250ml from boots) and like who doesn't have a bottle of vodka lying around for medicinal purposes?

    hi everyone

Thanks to you Sue for the pm with all the tips, advice and support :T

Well done to everyone who has gone another day without smoking :T

I have now reached the 7 day mark and £40 in my pot. Had the morning from hell at work yesterday and a couple of times I really thought about nipping out and buying some fags....but I didn't so I imagined those little people dancing on my desk again, just like the advert :D

Because I lost 2 stone last year I am being very careful not to snack, but I still have seemed to put on 2lb, am hoping this is a blip, as when I gave up I went to counting points in my food again and I have been really honest with myself, (no point in cheating, its only cheating yourself) and went back down to the points that you start with on w/w and I still put the 2lb on  am thinking its cos me body is saying !!!!!! what the hell is going on! after 40 years it is probably confused with the no smoking :rotfl:

I have done more crochet this week than I have for years, but its keeping my hands busy. Am still feeling a bit like something is missing in my life, but not enough to light up! dunno how I will feel when I start to reduce the patches etc, not going to think about it now, one day at a time.

This is the longest I have every gone, my previous record was 3 days

Big hugs to all my fellow quitters and slap on back and well done for going another day :D

    speak soon xxx

Interesting. You any good at crocheting socks and if so could you recommend a good book? I've lost 3.5lbs this week on Sparkpeople which is like a free net diet. So hoping I lose the same this next week and I'll be upto 1/2 a stone :T. Diet mostly consists of a few basic things as not gotten my act really together since having the depression the other week though hope to improve soon...

For those wanting something in their mouth? Try altoids or similar - the strong wee mints in tins. Fab stuff. Never try and quit smoking without a decent supply of those..

For the person (above) who was still feeling pants after 12 days? Did you say you had depression? Might be worth going back to the doc about that hun...Hugs

If you feel tired since giving up smoking, rizla, please don't worry! Some people are affected by this whereas others feel completely the opposite and energised. It's just another side effect of your body adjusting to the lack of nicotine. Nicotine speeds up the metabolism to an unnaturally high level, which means that without the nicotine, your metabolism slows down to adjust. This causes your energy levels to drop, but it's only temporary and will soon return to normal.

For now, boost your energy levels by avoiding sugary and processed foods. I know I say it a lot - but drink plenty of water! Have snacks consisting of seeds, nuts and dried fruit, don't have too many at a time, but a few 3 or 4 times a day do help. Take a short, brisk walk when you're feeling tired and take a break from what you're doing, it honestly does help to divert the concentration to something totally different. Then relax and always make sure you eat a good healthy breakfast which will keep you going through the morning. Try a similar healthy lunch and so forth. Your body WILL right itself rizla, just give I chance.

I hope you soon feel much better, rizla, but if you try the above you'll certainly soon be well on your way. :D

    Hugs, Sue xx

I didn't know that caracara, but then maybe it wasn't the case back in 1998 when I quit. I just asked DH and he doesn't remember it affecting ours...or maybe we've shortermemories! :undecided What's the difference?
