Day 4: Well made it thru day 3 without too many tears and no smokes :j Downside, I could smell the cat on her litter tray this morn. Going to the smoking cessation group today, just for the support as I get my kit from the chemist, unfortunately the chemist doesn't check your CO2 levels or offer the support that the cessation group does, so hopefully with the extra support this time I will kick it!
how did you get on hun? I'm now 10 days on e-cig and my new baby came yesterday...
Had a lousy day on Thursday as it was the anniversary of Pa's deatha and what not... Awful day....but i phoned my GP and she used her 'magic powers' (code word - she doesn't really have MP) and that helped and also took some extra meds and that helped...
Alas after all that I forgot to drink my orange juice so like I now have the bug back
If it doesn't rain it pours...
And I took £10 out of the OD last night ......
So I still haven't menu planned etc for this week and like it's communion season so I should get ready and go to church for 12noon but don't know if I'm upto it.....we'll see...
but I'm now a proud owner of a VV - variable voltage - e-cig and it's fab...Just needed batteries (big uns = £4 each) and like a few screw drivers for the nob to change the voltage...
Praying types pray I'm well enough for work on Monday and Gaelic class on Tuesday - will have to cycle to Gaelic class so a tad concerned...
E
PS. Mazza hun...Yep I noticed I smelt the boys more when I quit the cigs...it's a positive smell but horrid...but now I smell and taste zero with the sinusitis:dance:
I believe in the power of PAD
Come and join us on the Payment a Day thread

Hi skintbint, whilst you're still on line, how much did you crumble??
How about going to a Cessation Nurse at your local Drs, you might find that going to see someone reguarly will really help you. Many folk have benefitted and QUIT...why not go and talk to them. Be careful with coffee!!!! It's a stimulant and makes us stressed..best beware of it for now, tea can be a bit like it, but you'll soon know how you're affected with both yourself.
All the very best with the business, I hope it's a great success.

Morning all, just checking in. Well thats me a day short of two weeks now and I have made it through another weekend:dance:
Had a fairly quiet weekend with a few beers on Sat that I breezed through without a thought of smoking! I am still listening to Alan Carrs CD to help me get to sleep and it works a treat.
I am feeling so much better for not smoking and I am glad to report that my breathing seems to be settling back down :T. I am eating like a mad woman now that I can actually taste food again! I have joined slimming world to try and keep this in check. I am using some of the money I have saved to pay for it. I am amazed that I haven't smoked 248 cigarettes, saved over £80 and more shockingly I think, is that I have saved myself 20hrs 30mins in time I would have spent smoking!!!!! There is far too many health benefits to list but I am well chuffed I am slowly but surly ticking them off.
Anyway, thanks for all the help and support over the last 2 weeks, hope you are all doing well.
Thanks xKBxJust little old me!0 -
Hiya everyone, I'm pretty new to the site, and have set my quit day for tomorrow. I'd be really appreciative of your advice and encouragement, this is now the 4th time i've tried, first 2 times went badly...third time I quit for a year until a family member was taken ill and I reached for the only thing I knew. Been 2 years since then, and tomorrow is D-Day. wish me luck, and so wonderful to hear of all the support and successes on this thread.
Thanks again everyone0 -

Brilliant news, kahunababy!Congratulations for handling it so wonderfully!!!! :T:j:T You are doing SO very, very well and sounding about as chipper as is possible!!! I'm so thrilled at how well everything's going and your stats are amazing!
I'm so pleased to hear how the from the Alan Carr CD is helping you with sleep and I couldn't be happier to hear about your breathing!!
A very, very, extremely positive post kahunababy!!!! Keep at it just as you are now!
Sue (very happy for you) xx
A very warm welcome aboard, domravioli.!You've done remarkably in doing your very best to quit before and I truly do hope that you'll be successful this time round. Why not pop into your Dr's surgery and asked to see the Cessation Nurse as going regularly to see someone and talking about how things are going can be so beneficial.
Try the Quitters Pledge below:
Tell yourself every morning "I'm not going to smoke at all today, but if I wish to, I may smoke tomorrow." Repeat that pledge every morning, it tricks your mind and makes things more bearable to do it in bitesizes.
I'm sending you a PM with some tips in, please read it all through as there is plenty of help that can pull you through.
There are lots of little tricks that will help you through it all i.e. Cleaning your teeth regularly, or putting a pea-sized piece of toothpaste on your tongue and swirling it around your mouth that can really help because anybody with fresh breath does not want to make it stale with fag smoke!Drinking plenty of water helps a lot, it also fills you up and helps keep you from snacking! Fruit is good for you and the peeling of clementines or any other type of oranges takes more of your 'thought' time, similarly so with apple's or any other fruit which takes longer to eat. Ice Poles/Ice Pops from your local shop's freezer section, you'd be amazed just how helpful they can be, not only are they cold and refreshing but they also last a very long time and we've had no end of people on here who have given up with the help of those, truly!
Walk as much as possible and really take notice of all that surrounds you in the way of nature or anything that makes you happy. Any type of exercise is great in fact and it also stops you thinking about fags!!!!
Talk to us and tell us exactly how you're feeling, especially when you're not feeling so good. It really helps to write things down. So many here are in the same boat as you and have just, or recently, given up, and it helps to talk about your struggles (if you have any, not everyone does!) with each other as you always know others can understand you.....you're never alone! You can do this with determination!
Please, just remember ONE thing; however bad things get and whatever happens in life.......it's NEVER made better by having a puff of or just one cigarette! The reverse is true.
Thinking of you and willing you on,

1 week 10 hours £90 saved :eek:and one day of my life
Was mega tempted over the weekend. OH talked me out of buying a pack, saying if i was desperate just to have a roll up, instead of buying cigs as I would smoke the full pack. Now I really don't like rollies, so resisted temptation :j:j:j:j:j
Have stopped the Nicorette oral spray as the hiccups were getting quite embarrassing, great big stomach wrenching ones :rotfl: and now just try and chew some ordinary gum or a wee puff on my ecig if I'm really desperate.
Feeling good despite having started physio for my shoulder last week too, so managing thru the pain without reaching for the smokes. Noticed a slight tickly cough today, not sure if it's cos I've stopped or cos I've gone back on occasional use of Ecig. But still much better than the gut heaving cough I did have being a 40 a day smoker!
Good luck to all those on the start of their journeys, trust me, if i can go even one day without a cig, anyone can. Think i'm the biggest nicotine junkie alive!!!!
Erme - What model did u end up getting? Well done on getting this far!!!! :T:T:T
Just have basic Ecig here along with some nic refill liquid that I always manage to over fill and get a squirt of the stuff, GROSS!!!!
Domravioli - Have u decided what method you're going to use to quit?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Congratulations on getting past a WHOLE WEEK, Maz!!!!! :j:T:j You're doing so very well, now get hold of all the willpower, guts and determination that you obviously mustered up from somewhere to lose all that weight and run with it to leave the fags behind!!!
Imagine your life with the weight and fags gone!!!! :j Come on Maz..this is your LIFE and you CAN do it and have a GREAT LIFE after saying cheerio to the evils.
Be careful with the e-cigs that's all I'll say. Erme's look more like a ruddy oil tanker!!!She put a photo on about 7 or 8 pages back and it's weighing her neck down already ....like I say, I'm saying nowt else.
You've given some great advice to others above, now use it for YOU as YOU are the important one right now. Day by Day, Maz...but yes, you CAN do it...just like the weight loss - CONGRATULATIONS on shifting all that!!!!! :T:T:T I bet it seemed like a mammoth task at the time, but you got there - same rules apply now!!!
Big hugs,
Sue xx
All the very best for today, DomRaviol!!!As Maz says, are you doing it via cold turkey or an NRT, i so which?

Euhm, haven't got round to updating my sig, actually put about 2 stone back on
Stress made me lose a lot of it, but has settled down at a steady weight now. More to lose, but stop smoking first, one step at a time eh
4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Eek just search back, that's a big Ecig
The ones I have are just about the size of a superking cig. Must admit, find myself smoking them empty more than I do when I have nicotine liquid in them. More for something to do with my hands than actually getting the kick out of them.
Today's plan is about to start, had my bath, done my physio, now about to go into the bombsite (15 yo DS room) and attempt to make some order out of something, just to give me something to do4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
