..It's the smoking withdrawals...it's documented if you just google it (Sue !!!!).....
Anyhow got a new voluntary job...credit union:)
What's up with you, Erme...why me?? Good news about the job!!!!
Chill out alibob, you know it might not even be you at all. When we start to quit we sometimes don't always think so rationally, but we can often overdo it with our thoughts and think we might have said things and sounded awful when to others it didn't come across like that at all. Stop analysing your words/thoughts and when you get stressed especially due to things you can NOT alter - STOP; relax and ask yourself, "ok, what's the worst that can possibly happen?" Once you've faced that and remembered that it's all just part of life, relax, breathe in deeply but not hard and let everything go over your head.
BTW alibob - many congratulations on doing marvellously!!!!! :T:T
Hi Kiwi! I thought of you last night when the news here showed Wellington with all that snow!!!! In NZ???!!!!!! Roll on summer eh Kiwi!
Well done Az, I didn't realise you were already 2 weeks into your new journey...well done!!! :j
BTW, Az, I really loved that proverb " To get through the hardest journey we need take only ONE step at a time, but we MUST keep on stepping." See below!
If that doesn't sum up quitting then I don't know what does, thanks Az...good old twitter too!!
Congratulations on having quit all that time, anxious_mum!!! :T:T:T No wonder your lads are so proud of you - and having saved ALL that money?!!! 12 years 7 months for me and I never think about it now, haven't for donkeys!! :j
Very well done indeed, caracara, you're doing so very well. It sounds as though you have sinus problems and it's so common with many of us; see how it goes and if you're still having problems after a fortnight see your Dr.
PLEASE, don't miss out on all the amazing pleasures that camping has to offer because of embarrassment about snoring. It happens to us all and if your friend hadn't been awake she would more than likely have been snoring too!!!IF you think you may have any problems there (yes, they could be linked to smoking, but I doubt it) then next time you go camping pop in the chemist beforehand and buy some of the strips you can get to help. You simply place one or two across the bridge of the nose and it does the trick perfectly.
Don't worry about talking of realy yucky bits as that's all part of quitting and is what this thread is for. Some folk suffer from bad wind and loo problems ........but we won't even mention that eh! :rotfl: * Anyone suffering those see below. Problems can usually be solved so I'm glad you said about it. Carry on quitting without worrying!
For all folk experiencing bad wind and loo problems: Be reassured that it's only temporary and eating extra fruit esp apples, plums, prunes etc and veg, as well as drinking quite a bit of extra water and walking briskly will help solve it.
Keep focused and very determined everyone as it's all sooo worth it. Remeber the proverb Az told us about:
" To get through the hardest journey we need take only ONE step at a time, but we MUST keep on stepping."

Hi Kiwi! I thought of you last night when the news here showed Wellington with all that snow!!!! In NZ???!!!!!!
I'm amazed we even made the news over there, must have been a very slow day for stories. If it was going to make the news I might have expected them to focus on those poor souls in Christchurch already living in appalling and grim conditions from the earthquake and now having to cope with a big dump of snow. It never ceases to amaze me what makes the news some days. Last night they had some reporter from Wellington standing on what looked like the last scrap of slushy grey snow, just to make a news feature, when there was clear space all around as far as they eye / camera could see.
I just clocked my Silk quit meter.......drum roll please, wait for it....
Seven months, one day, 7 hours, 36 minutes and 44 seconds. 3199 cigarettes not smoked,
saving $2,214.66 (about a thousand quid)
Life saved: 1 week, 4 days, 2 hours, 35 minutes.Mortgage

Cos you (and Dundee doll) are the quit smoking gurus.. Sue
Anyhow 1oz of tobacco that I got on Monday has to last till thursday night if not friday...and I've smoked about 3/4 of it....so major push on e-cig today...Only have 1 more oz left for the week....it has to last
So quite happy (apart from the burnt atty taste just gotten....atty as in atomizer...the metal heating element)...vaping since 7.....
Also I got some hints on making lanyards from UKV and I made one last night for my favourite e-cig.....Just out of string and thread......
Basically hitches round the adapter or anything that's not liable to slip off... Does anyone want pics?
Why the lanyard? to stop it getting the entire gunking contents of my bag/pocket when it's in my bag/pocket and trying to find something to clean the drip tip (part of the mouthpiece in a nutshell) out..... - paper clips are one of the best......but still
Refused to pay £2 for a lanyard (plus postage) that I didn't know if it would fit or not....
Have put a note on freecycle for a lanyard (to go on the thread) but we'll see...If not the dressmaking shop has cord cheap....anything but black basically but right now am perfectly happy with the string ....

I'm so glad I subscribed to this thread! I've a horrible temper these last few days and a VERY short fuse....Reading through the recent posts has made me realise i'm not alone! That proverb is superb! Applicable to many areas of life.... Anyway onwards and upwards! x0 -
5 days
pootling along nicely today. Tomorrow is my dreaded day 6, my quit attempts recently have always gotten very tough on day 6 so we will have to see what tomorrow brings but I really don't want to smoke much at all this time round compared to other times. Nothing much happening with me today, doing some xmas shopping. My DD is driving me insane as usual, can't wait til the hols are over lol. So my plan for today is, get off here, go get my xmas pressies, tidy up. DD gets picked up leaving me the rest of the evening to have a nice long soak in the bath, whatever I want to watch on tv in peace and then a nice early night in nice clean bedding....bliss

Afternoon All
Just a quick check in..Thank you Sue for your kind words as always x
I had a little 'fed up' moment this morning, sure it was a little craving trying me out..Had a bowl of porridge and then a dog walk, cleared my head and nipped nico in the bud.
Kiwi you have done soooooo well, really proud of you (couldn't help thinking I would have been where you are if it wasn't for my mahoosive 'blip' taught me a lesson) well done you Kiwi x
Keep on stepping people and Thank you so much Sue for using my proverb that I found.. (it was from Inspire Me on Twitter, I think they are on Facebook as well they have lots with good meaning)
AZ xx
PS found this 'Every Little Helps'
Smoky Thinking I just need one cigarette to take the edge off these cravings.
Clear Thinking Cravings become weaker and less frequent with every day that I don’t smoke. Even just one puff will feed the cravings and make them stronger.
Smoky Thinking It’s been a long day. I deserve a cigarette.
Clear Thinking I deserve a reward after a long day, but there are better rewards than a cigarette. A favourite meal, a funny movie, or a hot shower will help me relax without ruining my quit attempt.
Smoky Thinking The urge to smoke is just too strong. I can’t stand it.
Clear Thinking Even the strongest cravings last less than 3 minutes. The urge will go away whether I smoke or not, and smoking now will just make it even harder for me to quit later. I can find something else to do—anything—until the craving goes away.
Smoky Thinking I blew it. I smoked a cigarette. I might as well go ahead and finish the pack.
Clear Thinking I am still learning how to be a non-smoker. It’s normal to make some mistakes. But I don’t have to smoke that next cigarette. I can learn from this mistake and keep going.
Smoky Thinking I can’t deal with never being able to have another cigarette for the rest of my life.
Clear Thinking I only have to deal with today. Quitting happens one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time! The future will take care of itself." To get through the hardest journey we need take only ONE step at a time,
but we MUST keep on stepping."0 -
