Kiwi that is absolutely fantastic news....and what some brilliant stats!!!! :T :j :T Congratulations Kiwi, keep hard at it which I know you will. I couldn't agree more about the fill-ins with the news at times, so many of them sickening too or giving too many detals and enticing copy cats. Your poor chap really does take the biscuit though!! eejit! :rotfl:
Oooh I'm a guru then eh Erme, oh yes I'll be remembering that and put me guru hat on! :happylove
Ahhh, bless you caracara, that was so sweet, but I love doing it as I'd desperately wanted to quit all those years ago and from then on wanted so much to help others rid themselves of all the worry of their health too. I'd been terrified for years!! I've given myself that hug, thanks a lot. Now you go ahead and be like me and - QUIT for life! YOURS!!!I'm so glad I subscribed to this thread! I've a horrible temper these last few days and a VERY short fuse....Reading through the recent posts has made me realise i'm not alone! That proverb is superb! Applicable to many areas of life.... Anyway onwards and upwards! x
Always bear the bolded bit in mind, wee_plumb as it's so very true. Try doing something that really relaxes you when you're uptight....allow yourself to dream a little perhaps or pop an exercise dvd in and work it off that way.
If all else fails.....bury your head in a pillow......hang on, I haven't finished yet :rotfl:and scream as hard as you can and for as long as you like. Then if you're still a little bit stressed...thump he*l out of the darn thing!!!! After that - look around for something else to rest your head on tonight and clear up the mess!Over 8 days is amazing - keep it going and praise yourself so much. :T:T
Oh so very, very well done, alibob!!! :T:T:T You keep on doing things like that when you're having 'thoughts' and you WILL get there!!!Now then, you've got tonight planned out (I totally adore having a shower and getting into clean sheets almost [STRIKE]orgas***) [/STRIKE] err umm wonderful). When you get up tomorrow you recite the "Quitters Pledge" as many times as you need - but you WILL be ok, d'you hear!!!
Another great day Az!!Thanks so much for the 'Every Little Helps' smokey thoughts v clear thinking and isn't that all true too. I've a feeling I'll be saving that to use on here in the future along with yesterday's which was brilliant!
See, you're already seeking ways to help everyone.

Thanks for the welcome Sue
I have quit before (for all of three weeks) but i managed 3 weeks cold turkey and i only smoke 8 or 9 a day so it's pretty pointless really, should be easier to knock on the head with you guys for support!

Evening check in..
Had a bored moment earlier so took myself and DS off to Brentwood for an hour or so, kept my mind occupied and it did just that.
Sue Thank you for using the proverb, it helps seeing/reading it..I did try to put it on my signature but it wouldn't let me for some reason..
Well done all the newbies on here your in the right 'house', so glad I'm back on here.
Sue, I bought my ice poles/pops DS had never heard of them! There I was looking in the freezers and they're not kept in there! Anyway found them and stocked up on these, what seems like 1ft long ice poles lol
Speak soon

oh deary me Sue, that totally made me chuckle!!!! Love clean sheets that much as well, once the sheets are clean you can only get into bed if you have had a bath/shower and washed your hair and you must be in clean pjs as well, otherwise the clean sheets are wasted!!! lol
Today's been good, surprising how little you think about smoking when you take the plunge. Not saying it's easy, but it's not as much of a battle as I was expecting either. I am def finding this attempt easier than my other recent ones, so onwards and upwards, I WILL not go back to them nowSept GC - £13.19/£150

Completely agree clean sheets/bedding and clean pyjamas make for a good nights sleep. I've had my ice pole and now a bit of tv before bed.
Night everyone

You're most welcome, Grantus. You did wonderfully to stop for 3 weeks! With regard to you thinking you should have been able to quit as you were only smoking 8 or 9 a day, I truly don't think it makes too much difference as you're still putting nicotine into your body and still feeding the addiction. So, if you're going to try with us then whether it's 8 or 9 or 40 per day you really should praise yourself a LOT for every day passed successfully; even every hour or 2 hours is a success. Go ahead and be thrilled at your achievements, no matter how small they may seem - they're huge when you're quitting!!!
Sorry Az! I always forget to mention to everyone that the Ice Poles/Pops are in boxes and NOT frzen, but ready to pop in the freezer. BTW, was the problem with not being able to put the proverb on your sig due to you having too much on there maybe?
Good for you on getting away from temptation this afternoon, that's the way it's don Az!! :T I think that proverb is great and very encouraging. Night Az, see you tomorrow.
Oh alibob, you sound so determined to really get to your goal and I'm so very chuffed for you! You honestly do have to be commended for how far you've come in seemingly such a short(ish) while. I love your commitment. Keep going for it ali and don't forget the praise, heaps of it! :T:T
For any lurkers or folk wondering if you might be able to do it - come and have a go, you've nothing to lose - but your life to regain!!

Kiwi you have done soooooo well, really proud of you (couldn't help thinking I would have been where you are if it wasn't for my mahoosive 'blip' taught me a lesson) well done you Kiwi x
Thanks Az, look on the bright side you only had a relapse for a short while and you made a sharpish about turn and you're back to it now. You'll do it again and I'm sure in a week or two you'll at least feel like you haven't smoked for several months

2 Weeks, 10 hrs - Cold Turkey
I've reached 2 weeks - can't believe it! It's all going so well (so far anyway). Hasn't been too difficult either. Have had some cravings that I thought I was going to cave with a couple of them but distracted myself and they passed.
First test this Saturday night as going out with friends for a drink to see a few bands. Really nervous that I'm going to want to smoke after drinking and I haven't got the same strength and discipline when I'm drinking. I'll just have to see how it goes and hope for the best.
Keep your fingers crossed for me please! As my Mum always said "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves"0 -

Och well done you wee plumb...of course I have to do things my way due to other factors....but you are doing so well :Talibob_1986 wrote: »5 dayspootling along nicely today. Tomorrow is my dreaded day 6, my quit attempts recently have always gotten very tough on day 6 so we will have to see what tomorrow brings but I really don't want to smoke much at all this time round compared to other times. Nothing much happening with me today, doing some xmas shopping. My DD is driving me insane as usual, can't wait til the hols are over lol. So my plan for today is, get off here, go get my xmas pressies, tidy up. DD gets picked up leaving me the rest of the evening to have a nice long soak in the bath, whatever I want to watch on tv in peace and then a nice early night in nice clean bedding....bliss
Och now ya talking...I'm so tired from all my dressmaking the past few days (one pinafore and one skirt).....that I'm just pjing this morning (only in my new pinafore) and then going to my new voluntary job...just somehow think my post work starbucks won't come soon enough tee hee...I'm new to this place but i was hoping if it is not too late i could join in? I'd absolutely love to give up smoking but find it very difficult but by reading all of your posts i feel i'd get a lot of support and incentives here so i wouldnt feel like i am doing it alone.
Right well....Sue and DundeeDoll have the seats as resident cold turkey gurus......and general dali lamas..spreading love, peace and happiness all over this thread...
I'm taking the throne for the e-cig guru....I'm nominating Ali for the 'when life gives you lemons' chair and inhalator guru...(ali btw..this is not an insult....I just think considering what you've shared you are doing so well that you should be applauded...so many of barely have to deal with half of what you have to deal with yet you just come right back up smelling of roses)
So who else wants a chair? You have to have a guru area of expertise.....
So yeah...this is me...a few cigs this am (have a feeling this early am habit is going to be nightmare!!!) and now no more till tea time if not beyond cos like I simply don't have the tobacco...and like I do have tobacco but it has to be saved for mega stress of a weekend...Last week I smoked 4oz - this week it has to be 2oz tops...Next week nothing.....just e-cig....
Battery probs again...:( batteries only lasting 4 hours rather than the previous 6.......but will wait till they just last 2 hours before buying anymore....
New voluntary job this pm...was planning on walking but it's forecast heavy rain so maybe not...Maybe the only exercise I will get is a quick walk up the hill to the bus stop to the chemist (suddenly discovered this am I'd run out of AD's - oops!!!)
