wooo well done u on making that :) what is that on the end of it though?!?!
today is mostly...stressful! oddly still don't want a fag though, just very stroppy. am mostly staying out of everyone's way again today though, best way!!! Did a bit of knitting earlier. Am making a jumper for my DD for winter but it's my first knitting attempt and i keep having to stop to get my mum to help me lol, have knitted the row too tight for me to work with so that's halted play for me, mummy to the rescue haha. have eaten almost a whole bar of chocolate since 10am, not very good :( must stop eating crap!

Get the stitch and !!!!! books and the stitch and !!!!! cd...they are really helpful and now you've quit the cigs you can go and and treat yourself....Knitting/crochet is great for quitting the cigs...I got one S&B book then got another for my birthday and now I have the whole lot...:D

Also try https://www.ravelry.com for free patterns...

Haha I'll bear that in mind, it's my job that pushes me to smoking! I'll have to buy a stress ball!

Nope a crochet hook and some double knitting...re the above (S&B) you can get S&B for men if you're a chap so go for it...really the crochet and the knitting will help sooooo much....and a packet of raisins...just pop a raisin in your mouth and eat it slowly noticing everything about it.....and noticing your environment....whether you're tense....happy/sad; whether your face is relaxed or your derriere is comfortable, how your legs are, what your feet and arms feel like, what your hands and fingers feel like (as taught me by my therapist)...

If you can get outside to a bench sit outside on a bench and notice the wind, the sun, the rain, the birds etc...

That's the whole beauty of smoking shelters...is the above only you're using a cig to do it but you really don't need that...

If you're desperate to find out what's going on in the office and don't want to smoke in the smoking shelter use crave - away the plastic cigarette....just inhale and exhale on that :)

    So moi?

Visit with BS (beloved sibling) went really well. .Didn't smoke and she was so nice :D......so now off the cigs....

Prayer is more important to me than anything...

    Hugs

  • well still going strong here. Have only been using my inhalator when i get a craving and didn't need it at all yesterday :) Very pleased, obv i know i'm not home and dry yet lol, still got to deal with the "firsts" (first night out, starting uni etc,) but am feeling confident i will handle them ok.
Also, check me out for willpower, as my mum smokes but my dad doesn't know she does (don't ask lol) so she came round yesterday and had a smoke in my garden and left her fags here. So all night and day today I have had a pack of 19 on my kitchen counter.....and they can stay there, dirty smelly things!!!

    Och so proud of you...

Feeling pretty down now...missing my folks no end.....

Before I would have had a cigarette and just be done with it...

Now I'm determined this down is not going to get the better of me and I'm going to eat properly and cheaply and overcome this....

What doesn't kill you strengthens you and all that.....

Do my therapy stuff and carry on and this week is doubly difficult as I finish with my therapist on Thursday :(

    Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind if I join in. Had my last fag midnight last night. Am going cold turkey and doing the couch to 5k program on the NHS website. Am going to go down to the local park in a minute and just run round the cricket field, hopefully without too many people looking at me. Week one on the program is 20 minutes. Am doing OK, am determined to do it this time. Failed so many times before.

Anyway, I will be charting my progress on here, both good and bad and hopefully I can encourage others also.

    Hi there Erme

    The link is
    http://www.nhs.uk/LiveWell/c25k/Pages/couch-to-5k.aspx

First time I did it today and I did it ok. Felt a bit silly cos I am not sure whether you could describe what I do as 'jogging' but I did it. And because it was sunny I could wear sunglasses so felt quite anonymous.

Also I was coughing when I came back so smoking was the last thing on my mind.

Good luck with your program Erme, maybe we can support each other in our quest to give up the dreaded weed and as a positive side effect to have a bottom that stops when you do! (well in my case anyway, there is a 30 second catch up time).

  • god, another testing day for me!!
Well if you remember I said I was knitting something for my DD? Well the "little darling" got hold of it today and pulled all my stitches off the needle. Bearing in mind it's my first attempt at anything and it was nearly 12 inches long (like 2.5 weeks work!!!) I was just slightly furious!!!! Poor thing did get a ticking off, but she was being a little terror, I said put that back in the bag and she looked at me, shook her head and pulled it all off. Little sh....horror!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!!! so picked up as many stitches as I could and taking it to good old mumma bears, see if she can repair the damage! But oh my word, I was fuming. Then I felt awful for shouting at the littlun so calmed down and we had seen a load of birds outside and could hear tweeting so gave her a big cuddle and said come on, lets go find the birdies. So stood at the back door and realised the tweeting was coming from inside my house, turned round and the cat was sitting in the corner with a poor little bird! Grabbed the cat, who wasn't best pleased at all, shut her upstairs and picked the bird up and put it outside. It's gone now, so I hope it was only shaken up and will be ok bless it. However, tempting as it was, I am pleased to say I am still smoke free :)....just!!!!! couldn't even find my nicotine inhaler tho so got through that one cold turkey. Still feeling a bit edgy but over the worst. bloody cats...bloody kids lol

Hi back again and determined to succeed this time. My last cigarette was last night at 10 o'clock.

I am using patches this time hopefully they will keep me on the straight and narrow. I am ok just going to keep myself busy hadn't really thought about a cig until i got home from work.

I suppose it's just breaking the habit as it is the first thing I do when I get home.

Anyway, well done to everyone else!!

    Hi all,

This is my second day. I am sort of thinking I can do it which I have never felt before.

I have the podcasts - am on week one atm and think the music on it is pretty fab - it kept me going put it that way.

Am aching really bad today so definitely need a couple of days rest before I go again.

But trying to get to sleep last night - NIGHTMARE. Took ages to get to sleep, woke up every hour until I got up. I am hoping that when I get to sleep tonight my nicotine receptors will sort have dulled a bit from last night.

Good luck to everybody and it sounds like everyone is doing really well, with every possible situation thrown at you. Birds, knitting, kids, cats. If you can deal with that fag free then you are away.
