Sorry Az! I always forget to mention to everyone that the Ice Poles/Pops are in boxes and NOT frzen, but ready to pop in the freezer. BTW, was the problem with not being able to put the proverb on your sig due to you having too much on there maybe?

Good for you on getting away from temptation this afternoon, that's the way it's don Az!! :T I think that proverb is great and very encouraging. Night Az, see you tomorrow.

LOL Sue I forgot myself that they are sold on the shelves, long time since I bought any. I did walk up and down the freezer aisle, DS kept saying just buy ice cubes.. not the same effect though.

Today had a couple of cravings, but overcome them..I took the risk and told one of my old school friends on F/B that I went back to it and now stopped again, so I will have extra help there too. He didn't know I used to smoke so he's said he will let me rant if needed, such a good friend..

Hope everyone's well and coping ok Going to go for a dog walk and get wet~where is the sun in August?? Kiwi have you taken our sun lol

I'm starting this tomorrow, i decided to start when i finished by last packet and as i only smoke 8 or 9 a day it's taken two days to finish! So i've just smoked my last ever cigarette (i hope!) and will hope to still be in this positive frame of mind come Monday!

Reading all the challenges and peoples post on how they have done has really inspired me. I've gone from thinking about nothing to saving change, saving a pound a day, clearing up my debts as soon as possible and to quitting smoking. So thank you so much!

Haha I'll bear that in mind, it's my job that pushes me to smoking! I'll have to buy a stress ball!

I've reached 2 weeks - can't believe it! It's all going so well (so far anyway). Hasn't been too difficult either. Have had some cravings that I thought I was going to cave with a couple of them but distracted myself and they passed.

First test this Saturday night as going out with friends for a drink to see a few bands. Really nervous that I'm going to want to smoke after drinking and I haven't got the same strength and discipline when I'm drinking.

That is FANTASTIC news, UnionGirl!!!! :T:T You sound as though, so far, your handling it very, very well indeed and I can only praise you so much for that - and I trust you are praising yourself too! ;) Distraction is key to beating this and you're doing just that, keep doing exactly as you have been UG, I can't advise further than that as you're helping yourself so well!!!

With regards to your night out...PLEASE keep all your efforts in mind and please discipline yourself to a very limited amount of alcohol as so many have been rocked by it in the past and ended up regretting it all next day. Take something to keep in your pocket to 'play' with if you think it'll help - and do please stay inside when your friends go out for their horrible little sticks - you're a NON SMOKER UG be proud of it and if any 'friend' is daft enough to offer you one - tell them so! A saving grace for so many has been the ban on smoking in pubs/clubs so you've no one to entice you! I shall have my fingers crossed for you...how about imagining I'm there! xx

Hi Erme and good to see part of you. :) Good for you on doing dressmaking, very creative and relaxing....perfect when cutting nicotine down/out.

Hi Ali, I'm hoping you now have day 6 out of the way and are moving on with life smoke-free! Very well done on knitting your little one a cardi, it's good that you have your Mum to count on. I love knitting (so long as I feel like it), but am not so hot on finishing things off. Try to keep the same grip of both wool and needles and you'll soon manage to keep it even. Focusing on that is good for you..but be careful on the bars or you'll be on "Biggest Loser" :rotfl: Just joking, but do try and eat an apple or have some water close by as it'll fill you up. Have you tried Ice Pops/Poles? Give them a go and give yourself plenty of praise for all you're doing!!!! :T:T

Az, you let you lad eat an ice cube and then an Ice Pole and ask which he prefers! :p A great move on telling your old school friends on F/B, the more help the better. :D Keep going for gold this time.

Well Grantus, it sounds as though you have it all planned out, but why not forget the (I hope) bit as that's a negative thought to go back to; dismiss it and if it'll help then edit it out of your post as it's amazing how things like that really can help. ;) Coming to MSE is a whole new life for most of us and really inspires us all to get our lives in order in every single way. You CAN do it too, Grantus, just stay strong and focused at all times.

If it helps then alter your day around a bit so things aren't quite so habitual, that includes things like coffee that can be a habit...just like things that we used to do at the same time! If you used to smoke when on the phone, stand up and look out of the window whilst chatting - it distracts you! I'll be thinking of you, I promise! ;) By the way, a stress ball would be ideal, but always remember that smoking is the thing that stresses you most - fact!

What a day with the rain! Makes you pleased not to have to go outside anymore eh folks. :j

Have a successful day everyone, one more to add to the list at the end of it. :D

    Hi everyone :)

I am slinking back in to join up again for attempt number 3, third time lucky I hope :D

I was doing ok last time and FIL passed away, I coped really well even right after him passing I didn't have one when everyone else went out the hosp to have one I didn't. Then the day before the funeral I just had the urge to have one and couldn't shake it, so I did. I continued to smoke afterwards too instead of puttig it down to a blip.

Anyway, I've been to pharmacist, picked up my patches not going to do champix again as i felt really sick with them and Monday will be the start of my new smoke-free life.

I am going to re-read Sue's e-mail, thanks Sue and get myself geared up.

Good luck to all you who have succeeded and I will pop by on Monday to update.
