Really Bruce my dearest condolensces...... (pardon the spelling)

You've done so well - you've proved you can do it...please don't beat yourself up about this setback....no one else is!!!

I had many setbacks before this last tuesday. Many ups/downs/try this/try that....

It's not going down that's the crime but staying down - is one of my great phrases of recovery - even you're down for months/years...

So sorry to hear of your loss

    Hugs

e-cig = £17.50 inc 1st class recorded delivery and 1 battery and a charger (prototype hence the scratches).....

cartomiser - I think £7 for 5 plus p+p (but they last a good week till the plastic gets loose)...

Drip tip (the metal bit on the end) - free :D

e-z rub on (the flower) - free out of craft box :)

Tomorrow is my first day of being a non smoker for 10 years (I'm 23, nearly 24). I set my quit date a little while ago, and am currently feeling very motivated to quit. For me, my main motivation is the money saving, but obviously the health benefits (like being able to run around the garden with my cats - and hopefully in the future a little family - without being out of breath).

I'm quitting with a friend at work (we normally go on breaks together for a cheeky ciggie or two).

I don't doubt that it's going to be exceptionally difficult (I think the habit is very ingrained after ten years - I sometimes smoke when I don't really need to but just find myself with a lit cigarette!) but I'm very determined.

This is my first attempt at quitting and so I've got some lozenges but am going to try and go cold turkey (stressful on the phones in a call centre!). I know the relapse rates are high but I still am wishing myself good luck for tomorrow (and hopefully the rest of my life!) :)

Some of your stories on here an the previous threads are very motivational - wanted to post to say thank you for cataloging your journey for people like me to read to get the inner strength to do this :)

Hi kjsmith7 and a very warm welcome to stopping smoking! :D It's great that you're doing it with your friend as you can both support each other all the way, but especially at your weak times.

Please read through the PM that I've sent, and please send a copy to your friend as, again, it'll help you both with the tips.

I'm so pleased you've been reading the thread, keep on doing so as it really is motovational, as you've already found.

You're so young and have so much life to live - please - don't let fags stop you from doing that, they have no right!!!
The part above that I've highlighted is so true of us all, but you know you don't need them!

Try the following pledge every day, it's so very helpful.

Tell yourself every morning "I'm not going to smoke at all today, but if I wish to, I may smoke tomorrow." Repeat that pledge every morning, it maks things more bearable to do it in bitesizes.

I wish you and your friend all you need to kick this habit while you're young, your DH and future kiddies :A:A will really thank you for it - most of all - so will YOU!!!!

Go forward from tomorrow kj and enjoy your life!

    All best wishes,

    Sue xxx

I am philosophical about this relapse and won't let it discourage me from starting back as a non smoker in the next day or two once the rawness of this loss has passed me by somewhat. :(

Really sorry to hear your news Bruce, I doubt there's many at this early stage in their quit process that wouldn't have gone straight back on the fags under the circumstances. I am sure you'll get back to it once your more yourself and feeling strong enough.

Welcome kjsmith we're all here, right behind you, so good luck and put your best foot forward. You've done one of the hardest parts in deciding to do this thing now, now you just have to put your plan into action.

I would advise some caution in giving up with someone else, just in case they're not as strong or determined as you are; please don't let them drag you back or convince you that one wee puff won't hurt. It's very hard to not feel let down or overwhelmingly disappointed if they don't stick with the program. Remember ultimately you are doing this for you and nobody else. Perhaps you can get your friend to sign up here too, so we can give them a good talking to. :D

What's ecf? I've a feeling it's some e-cig forum? Nope I'm on UKV and AECC...

    I had a good am :D

Spent an hour fixated trying to find juice bottles for e-cig (having vaped about 6ml yesterday realised 30ml wasn't going to last more than a day or so )....started off with 'kids water bottle' - thinking it would be 250ml - nope, wrong, that's 'baby' water bottle & is £7+... Kids is 400ml (way more than I need for travels)

Then got onto travel bottle sets (300ml? Hmm brain dying at this point) = £5+

Finally good old faithful - medicine bottles - 200ml = 20p each (plastic) from the chemist. They didn't have any smaller ones than 200ml so I got some smaller ones from the chemist next door @ 40p and 20p respectfully...

    Now compare £5-10 to £1.20 :D

One very happy MSE bunny :)

    Erme
PS. when 200ml medicine bottles are 20p from the chemist I got one for shampoo as well. Travel bottles @ £5 for three my derriere....and these are more leakproof :)

I am very surprised with your picture, call me out of touch if you will Erme, but I understood the whole controversy around e-cigs were that they were too much like real cigarettes. I had to look several times, and nope that looks to me absolutely nothing like any cigarette I ever smoked. It looks to me a lot like the mouthpiece of one of those hubble-bubble pipes.

Glad it's not just me then Kiwi, it looks more like a mini blow torch to me! I thougt the only E-cigs were made to look exactly like a ciggy - NOT like that!!! No wonder you often write about things I have no idea of Erme.

I'm not picking, but had absolutely no idea that anything like that existed.

Kiwi, you make good points about kjsmith stopping with a friend - could be a good thing or bad. I'm sure kj is in for the definite quitting though and will make sure her friend is too! :D
