I am very surprised with your picture, call me out of touch if you will Erme, but I understood the whole controversy around e-cigs were that they were too much like real cigarettes. I had to look several times, and nope that looks to me absolutely nothing like any cigarette I ever smoked. It looks to me a lot like the mouthpiece of one of those hubble-bubble pipes.

LOL - yeah when I use it in public people think I often have a pipe..

The ones that look like cigs are for very light users. I'm hardcore (anyone want to buy me a GG - just pm me LOL)....though not so hardcore as to blow £160 on one...

The controversy is very interesting. It's actually banned on US flights. It's more about the fuss created by the pharmaceutical industry over not having a monopoly on NRT. Hence it can't be marketed as NRT but is generally marketed as an alternative. This is due to it not being fully tested like pharmacy stuff cos people just don't have the money.....(I don't know if china has. It originated out of china)....

It has a pop culture that I like...fits my psych very well..however I still have to be careful.

Cos it's not regulated it's very easy to overdose if you don't know what you're doing. Even me!!!.

For example I started vaping 2-3ml a day @ 30mg/ml .....now I'm vaping 5-6ml at the same strength and getting a little giggly and hyper in the afternoons. Reduction needed :)...no rapid heart beat but enough to tell me I need to reduce.

So yeah not for children. I don't know how you could use the e-cig if you had kids as the best place for keeping the nicotine liquid is in the fridge/freezer and you really don't want to keep the 5% (54mg or so) on your hands...eeww...doesn't bare thinking about.

I have discussed my e-cig with the psych unit should I ever need to get admitted whilst am on it and they said I could keep a big bottle of ready mixed stuff in the pharmacy and then just a wee bottle to carry round with me. Topped up daily or every few days. In that sense psych patients are like children and I'm not even risking it in my locker!!! I don't want someone drinking it or putting it their hands. The e-cig would get banned from the psych hospital never mind how I'd feel.

Though there is a consultant there on it (though he's still smoking - slap)...so it is gaining popularity..

It was even on groupon this am :)

Nicotine is a poison and is to be treated with respect I guess....

PS. Ppl can make whatever comments they like about what it looks like. Is fine by me. I'm here to tell you about my journey and also inform as I gain knowledge....so long as it's done with a hug, smile and a bit of respect I'm fine and I know you folk on here are cool so no sweat :D

    Well done you KJ.....

apparently it does get easier...it depends on how much you are reducing your nicotine levels at the beginning I believe

Have filled a 30ml bottle of juice though have some cartomiser probs and no new cartomisers on the horizon ...this could be crisis on hols

put in 28mg/ml rather than 30mg/ml - trying to avoid my pm hyperness...and also trying to vape a little less to reduce that soon too..

Know it's a little early to reduce the mg/ml (most folk say not before 6-8 wks of vaping) but I just can't cope with the PM highs

    Erme
pS. Cartomisers/cartos..cross between atomiser and cartridge (carts)....basically an all in one that has the juice in it with wadding then you get the nicotine via inhalation and capillary action..Erme

at some point I'll find a link with all the definitions...promise - E

Very well done indeed Kj!!!! :j You've made it through the first day so you do know that it's all very possible..so long as you keep going and stay as distracted as possible from anything related with those nasty, smelly little blighters! Most of us have it in mind that smoking keeps us free of stress when actually - it's the reverse! You should soon feel much calmer, and please, whatever happens in life, always remember that having a fag WILL NOT make it better!!! You'll just be back to square one....and desperate to start quitting all over again. A great idea to put the money saved aside, it soon mounts up. Look ahead to getting Day 3 over as you'll then be nicotine free.

Stay strong Kj, you're young and want your life back, don't let anything stop you from doing just that! ;)

    Sue x

All the best Erme. I can't pretend to know exactly what you're saying, but you know only too well that I will always wish you well in getting to the final goal and being fag (or anything related) free. Hugs a plenty.
