I go into hospital on 31st July and get my lung removed on 1st August, after ive recovered from surgery it will be decided if and when chemo is to start.Im terrified but will be glad when the cancer has been removed.:(
It sure stopped me in my tracks reading your post Brenda and I can't comprehend really how terrifying it must be for you. I hope you can keep strong and have good support around you. We'll be thinking of you at this difficult time.
Not only that, I promise I will think of you any time that I am ever tempted to smoke again. Whilst we're all aware of the risks and consequences of smoking, we somehow manage to kid ourselves that we'll give up before we become one of the statistics.
I really do hope for the best possible outcome and a speedy recovery for you.
Take care!!Mortgage

Well....5% nic juice came today
And there's a nice little parcel of freebies for me @ the delivery office :j
So yeah.....for any newbies wondering what 5% nic juice is is - in a nuthshell IT'S POISON....
To be treated with respect...
But then nicotine in it's pure form is poison...hence cigarettes have like 1mg etc...or 1% per fag....
So yeah...fridge then full body armour required to dilute this stuff...will need to get disposable aprons (praise God I have a cash and carry nearby) and plastic gloves.....
Can be diluted though with deionised water and glycerine. Has a glycol base.....
And following your folks tips on quit smoking apps I got both for my phone...quit smoking app and e-juice (dilution) calculator app...both free
Yay

For the first time in about 4 weeks i was really craving a smoke after lunch today , then I realised that I had forgotten to put my patch on!
I will never smoke again.
Although I have not posted much lately I have been following the thread and wish all the new non smokers the very best of luck. Please try your hardest to be free of cigs and use the tips as they really help.Ice lollys and ice pops really helped me at first.

Firstly, thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
Brenda,
I hope that you are okay and I wish you all the best for 31st July. I tried to send you a private message last night but it all went wrong, as I was so touched by your post, and it really made me sit up and think, as I has spent most of the evening before that, in a feel sorry for me state, I can't have a ciggie etc.
Lets all support each other here, and please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
On another note, I had my second appt with JSA today, and that would drive you to anything LOL. I have never seen so much paperwork even after you have done things on-line, no wonder we pay so much tax ha ha,.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment .
Quite incredible that a habit we initially feel we choose dictates so strongly to us and becomes such an ingrained behaviour.
but you've been kicking its a** for the last four weeks
Warm wishes from the forum and thanks so much for your encouragement to us newbies, think a large stock of ice lollies on my shopping list for this evening! xx0 -

Dundeedoll - thank you for the PM
Brenda - I hope everything goes well for you... I really felt awful when I read your post and as kiwi said it stopped me in my tracks and reinforced the benefits of quitting!
I'm now pretty much at the end of day 3. I struggled more today than day 2 (which was a walk in the park compared to today!) but I managed to stand the temptation and not smoke!!!! Thought I was gonna scream at one point (I work in a call centre) due to feeling a bit stressed but a few deep breaths and a walk to the vending machine and back to my desk and the craving passed and it was all good!!
Feeling okay now, just feel like I'm coming down with flu, I think that's more the withdrawal than anything else? Achy muscles, (I have a sore jaw from chewing gum - regular, not nicotine replacement - like there's no tomorrow hahaha :-P), bit tired, very thirsty, restless, bit of a sore throat... I think it can't be long now til I start coughing up 10 years of tar? Not looking forward to that!!
Hope everyone else is also in good spirits and is managing to keep up all the good work xx0 -
Hi Kj and very well done on getting through Day 3! You did all the right things when you started to get a bit edgy, great news.
As you're going cold turkey your body will be cleared of nicotine by the end of today, so, even though you're feeling rough at the moment, you can get up tomorrow feeling an inner cleanliness nicotine wise.
Some people experience nothing at all after stopping, but others like you have a few days of feeling as though they have flu like symptoms. Ride the storm Kj and soon enough you'll be feeling a whole lot better and your body will soon cleanse itself of all the rubbish. Not pleasant I know, but even so, bringing up a lot of muck and rubbish can soon make you feel far, far cleaner.
All the best for Day 4, Kj, you're doing marvellously!

It's just chemistry...... :rotfl:
Take it you're not a scientist Sue tee hee
Have learnt so much about electronics and chemistry via e-cig....truly it's an education - just to keep me safe
So yeah 5 weeks vaping now and 10 days since had my last fag...go me!!!
Just a tad worried now about next week (long days) and batteries and getting delivery of a signed for item (batteries) when I might have probs meeting postie ...might have to be up at 4  to get to post office for 7to get it before he leaves.....
Folk say the best long life (between charges and all round batteries) are 18650's for e-cig as they have about a 1500mah min (milliamp hours) whereas standard e-cig batteries are about 600-1000....though am learning with batteries it's economical to get the more expensive ones...
Just realised I'd realised this before last night
