  • a big cyber hug Drsmum, really am thinking of you x

I must say though unintentionally your message has given me a metaphorical kick up the backside. I have been thinking I want to smoke for the last couple of days. I'm not sure where it has come from but it has been on my mind of late. Nasty Nick has been laying in wait until I was being less vigilant!

good luck Drmum, let us know when you''ve got your date x

hi folks, I'm back on the wagon as of tomorrow morning, armed with my prescription for Nicorette Quickmist from my local pharmacy, fingers crossed I can succeed this time.

Have had a couple of failed attempts since I last posted here, work paid for me and a couple of colleagues to attend an Alen Carr clinic, have to admit I didn't find it all that easy and after a few days was back smoking away like a lumb! :(

But its good to be back! How is everyone?

Hi and welcome back Bruce! It always fills us with great hope when folk keep coming back to try again; it shows there's quite obvbiously a wannabe non smoker inside who's longing to break free. Go on Bruce...make it this time!

That was sooo good of your works to pay for you to go to an Allen Carr clinic, hats off to them! I've never heard of the Nicorette Quickmist, so quite possibly something new to do the trick for you, I really do hope so. Don't forget to find something...anything..to occupy your mind at the more difficult times, or a non fattening type of food ie. fruit, ice poles/pops and a good old glass of water! :D You CAN do this Bruce!!! This time, why not do all you can to get past the time when you'd normally give in..it might be all it takes to get you to a much easier stage.

All best wishes Bruce, and don't forget - we're here for you - so use us at the difficult times, that too could be a real help.

Day 1 - from a smoking/non-smoking point of view, success! didn't smoke a single draw of a single cigarette, and to be honest didn't really have any particularly strong physical cravings.

From an everything else perspective, its been hellish and I can honestly say it's a sheer miracle that what I wrote up there ^ is true! However, onwards and upwards as they say!

Good on ya Bruce, pleased to hear it!!

I was intrigued about the Quickmist thing as we're often a decade behind on some of these things.

Great news Bruce!!!! :T How many sprays are you using and how often? It's ok and doesn't doesn't matter that much, I just wanted to know how many you use now in relation to how many you get down to as time goes by.

Now I'm being nosy again...or caring I'd prefer to say ;) but when you say it's been hellish, how exactly do you mean? Let us know exactly what you're experiencing and in that way we can, hopefully, help a bit. Do you have any worse times of day or are there any triggers that make it difficult? I'll send you another PM to see if there are any tips for you on there.

You've got all our best wishes, you know that don't you! BTW are you male or female? That to make a great deal of difference with the advice or tips given.

Keep hard at it, we're with you!

    Sue xx

Hi Kiwi, so curiosity got the better of you too then! :D I couldn't resist the other day and had to find out more about it, it looks pretty good too. You say you're about a decade behind, but I've never heard of it which says a lot in itself eh? Mostly what's advertised here now are the Niquitins. All the best to New Zealand, you too. ;)

Still thinking of you so very much B (drsmum) and sending many {{{{hugs}}}} your way. :)

Take care everyone and never forget, the main reason you're doing this for is to get your good health back, keep it in mind always!

Thanks Sue, I have not really been keeping track of how much I am using, but I think its probably between one and three sprays in an hour, will pay more attention and come back to you on definites!

When I said it was hellish, I meant more my day in general and not the non-smoking. A close relative is in our local hospice and experienced further complications (a stroke) coupled with trivial things like traffic diversions and falling asleep on my glasses and breaking them in to three pieces, just meant it was a rather testing day!

Still, in to day 3, and remaining just as positive as I was on Monday morning, and hopeful that today will be another good day, the sun is shining, which for Scotland is a miracle in itself at times!

Oh by the way, I am male! :)
