Many congratulationsto you on being 6 months down the line DNMS!!! :j:T:T:j By heck it's so hard to believe you started on your journey a whole 6 months ago. I used to be very envious of others who'd given up for quite a while when I started out first, but after a while you almost get the feeling that you've caught them up!!!
I hope all is as well as it can be right now for you drsmum and that you're keeping positive. Please don't ever think you're not being thought of, I assure you I have you very much in mind.
Hi again Erme, be careful what you wish for as I'm a stickler for regime!I think you've hit the nail on head in a sense by knowing that long-term it's E fags that you next need to ditch, but give it time and you'll want to do so without any pressure from anyone else. Keep right on stepping further and further away by reducing the amounts and you will be one very happy person, a darn sight wealthier too.....to say nothing of your health! Stay on the road Erme and keep right on travelling with us....before you know it you'll be leading the way and holding a banner up and shouting "I DID IT and so can you!!" :j
Were are you JD? I hope everything is okay with you. Please let us know as it would be great to see you and hear how you're doing. If you've fallen on bad times let us know that too, we're good listeners here as you well know.
Keep strong everyone and never let yourselves falter! Keep taking it one day at a time and do all you can to focus your minds on other things, you can break this habit.....and not let it take you! To all those of you viewing the thread and wondering if you too can do it, why not give it a go, you've nothing to lose and so very, very much to gain!
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and enjoy your new smoke-free world.

Time and minds indeed are very funny things, I seem to remember everyone being way ahead of me in those early day. One or two weeks seemed like such great achievements and the gap between each of us seemed vast.
Now look at us, it seems no time at all between you and I.I'm looking forward to chalking up the six months score.

Hi all
I haven't been on for a while, but I remember Kiwi Saver and DNMS were stopping smoking around the same time as me, well done to you (and every one else).
I really don't miss it, should have done this years ago.
Good luck to all, especially those starting out on this journey - you can do it.0 -
Hi All,
Sorry ive not been posting.
I got my results last week and although my tumour has possibly spread to one of my lynph nodes in my chest it has been decided that my best chance is surgery to remove my right lung, lynph nodes and probably chemo after i have recovered from surgery.
I should recieve a call about my op within the next week or so.
It is sooo important that i dont smoke from now on as i need to have my other lung as fit as possible for the op,however i know that i will never put a cig near my mouth again.
Trying to stay positive but its hard sometimes.
Good luck to everyone in the fight against smoking
ps.where is Erme?0 -
Hi goochie and many congratulations on almost 6 months of a smoke-free life!!! :T:T:T It's so good to know that you don't miss it, like you, I spent a long time thinking to myself "I wish I'd done it sooner" but the main thing is - we've done it now and that's what's important. Very well done goochie!
It's sooo good to see you back again, drsmum.Whilst it's a shame the cancer's "possibly" spread to the lymph node, it is wonderful to know that the Consultant believes it's worth going ahead with the operation!!
They don't perform ops unless they think it's worth it, they're too expensive to waste so stay positive and look ahead. I'm delighted for you B, truly I am.
Let's hope they can do it quickly and get rid of all the cancerous parts so you can carry on and, all being well after the probable chemo, get back to much healthier living. My friend in Lancashire has had the same operation and is doing marvellously! So focus yourself on good health B and remember that age is on your side! You've done terrifically on being away from fags for 4 weeks, search great news for you and your Drs. Please let us know when the op is as there will be many here rooting for you, though I think you know that in your heart of hearts.
Your last few words raised the question - were is Erme? Were indeed? Come on Erme, it's high time you let us know how you're getting on - please.
All very best wishes to everyone, stay strong and keep focused on a healthy life ahead of you. So much to look forward to people, so long we should keep smoke-free. Remember folks, drink plenty of water, eat fruit and get plenty of exercise; all that and a positive attitude along with keep yourself mentally active will get you there!
