Jinty The Paul McKenna links do make you think about it differently, don't they?
I think so
I have been trying to analyse what seems to be different this time. All I can see that is different, is that I have watched these links. I found them very soothing.
Normally, for the first few days at least, I am utterly miserable without my smokes.
This time ( scared to post this) it is hardly bothering me. I have made some ultimatums with myself. If I really really need a fag, then, I have promised myself that I will go to the back door, have some gulps of fresh air, then have a chew of my gum , and then drink some icy water. If after all these things are done, I still need a cig, then I can have one. So far, it has not been required.
Feeling quite ok at the moment !I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -
hey jinty & ixia keep at it we're all rooting for you! You're so right just take each day at a time. Sue said (repeatedly to me!) say to yourself each morning "I won't smoke today, but I can if I want to tomorrow" I did find it really helpful.
Maybe this quit is the right time for you both? I know I could not have coped without this thread in the intial weeks & months.
Sue I'm sooooooooo happy to see you are feeling better, and the thread feels like home with you back. I really hope you are making a good recovery. We've missed you so much! :ADF as at 30/12/16

Thanks DNMS support on here has been great.
I don't want a cig but I am being really grumpy and snappy today think everyone wants to avoid me.0 -
Day 17 - still here. Not having a good week. Bank have stopped my debit card because they think it has been copied, DD2 has gone off to work in London and may not see her again until 1 July, I have found out I have to go and see horrible dental hygienist again so I can get signed off as dentally fit and find another dentist and friend's cat run over and killed on Monday. Yesterday was just a day of cravings, but today has been a bit better.
I really do appreciate your support. I cannot believe I have got this far and I know I couldn't have done it without you.

Well done to all of you on here for giving up, or even trying to, its hard enough isn't it! I gave up about 2 years ago now, but, and its a big but, on Sunday I bought 10 cigs, for no reason I can think of now and I'm secret smoking this week. I hope when the pack is gone I will stop again, I really do.
This thread was the push I needed last time, I hope it'll work again.:cool:0 -

oh sar I'm so sorry! Why don't you take charge of yourself & your life & make the resolve to stop today - you had a momentary maddness, but resolve to make your last one your last one. You know the only way to stay stopped is to say no everytime the urge hits you. I'm sending out some real positive vibes of ryou x
ixia you're doing fantastic! Maybe you're just having a day when you're a moody cow anyway??? :rotfl: keep up the fantastic work, you're soooooooooooo worth it xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi Paul and what a rotten shame that it happened after two whole years of being free! Like you, I haven't a clue what would have triggered it and am at a complete loss to say the very least, but obviously I'd imagine old nick got to you...the swine! Still, not to worry Paul its onward and upward from here, so either finish them or preferably bin them, then if I were you I think after all the time you've been free I would treat it as a blip and just go on as if nothing had happened! Just don't look back Paul and please don't become a secret smoker! How about Sarah has she still finished with it? If she has then be careful otherwise she'll soon be able to smell you and possibly even go back to it herself!!! Go on Paul, you've been free for a very long time.....far too long to let it all go to waste! Keep talking to us and let us know how you're doing, and no matter what, I hope you know you've always got our support whatever you do! :kisses3: You've been amazingly brave in coming back and telling us as that alone takes some doing! :T One step further Paul, be brave enough to finish with it again, you don't need it! You've done it once and been really successful, don't let it go to waste for the sake of all the family!!
Hi ixia, with regard to your question about how long do you need to be on Champix, I honestly have no idea as I don't know anything about them only what others say. Why not ask your Dr or cessation Nurse they should certainly know? BTW, with you being a bit narky it might just be because of the tablets in any case so don't put it down to just being you.....that sort of thing seldom happens to us women in any case!
oooh dear Mrs P, what a rotten time you've had.....but - you got through it and are obviously doing marvellously so be kind to yourself and know that you can go on with it no matter what life throws at you. Even if you'd have had a fag it certainly wouldn't have helped and only served to have made you more stressful which I think you could well have done without under the circumstances! I hope the bank will soon sort out your debit card and with luck you will see your DD before July but just in case you don't, remember you'll be further away from smoking than ever by the time she comes back!
Hi there DNMS! Great to see you again..and with such wise words too, wherever did you get those from!Glad they worked the you and I hope they do for others, far less committing when you look at it like that. I'm not doing too badly thank you, had another session with the Physio yesterday, very painful afterwards but certainly helped. Hubby's turn to give me some massaging today..VERY NICE!!!
Hello again Jinty! Good to see you returning to is again and having another shot at it, you sound so very much more positive this time and whatever reason for its let's hope it stays with you and sees you through to permanently quitting! Thank goodness your DH's health scare was just that, all the very best to you both with successfully finishing with all. Whenever you find is comforting then go for it, it's all about us being individuals and what suits one may not suit another and vice versa so keep trying things out and looking for the one that suits you. All the best Jinty for you both.....this time, you can crack it!
All the very best everyone, and remember that one not so good day is nearly always followed by a great one, just keep it in mind and it'll see you through. And for all those looking in and wondering, please join in and tell us a bit about yourself and we'll help you all we can.

I can honestly say I have never smoked over people whilst they were eating, even at a bbq I would remove myself to go and have a cig.
Very chuffed to have managed my first work trip away without cigsEven happier to have £40 in my not smoking jar and a noticible increase in energy levels.

Today is day 9
saw the doc yesterday he said you usually stay on the champix for 6 months  unless I start sleeping properly soon there's no chance of that. He suggested taking my night time tablet after dinner and seeing if that helps I'll give it a try.
Not been too bad today DNMS- maybe Just having moody cow syndrome yesterday after all :rotfl:
thanks to everyone again for all their kind words.0
