Over a week of no cigs............ hooray! I even found myself tutting when someone lit up near me whilst I was having lunch in a beer garden.

Day 15 and I'm still here. Still struggling with my blood sugar, smoking dreams and cravings pretty much 24/7 and that's before you start on the mood swings!

I have spoken to the smoking cessation service in my area, but they don't seem to have anyone medically qualified (lots of talk about 'advisors') and only seem to be interested in handing out NRT, which is not my bag, so I am resigned to going it alone, spurred on by the thought thay if I did have a jar, it would now have £50 in it.

:hello: Ixia. An awful lot of us have cleaned our houses like never before to keep our hands busy. :rotfl:

Those sleeping problems will sort themselves fairly quickly - until I read your post, I had forgotten that I had them as well.

Keep reading, keep posting. You'll get there.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

    You are doing so well!

I still think that perhaps a visit to the surgery nurse would be helpful.

    IT WILL GET BETTER!

Apologies hoogervaaner, I missed out the part that you were tutting because someone lit up near me whilst I was having lunch in a beer garden. That's nothing short of disguting! I'm a firm believer that there should be places or pubs that are for non smokers only and vice versa....it's disgraceful to allow it when folks are eating!

Hi Mrs P, I'd definately be inclined to agree with DD that you should be seeing your GP as it's only he/she who knows your hypoglycaemia problems best and how stopping smoking affects you. Also, he/she might be able to advise you on something that'll make you feel so much better quickly. Re the savings; get yourself any pot/jar/tin/gravy carton to put your saved cash in, you could even join us on the "Sealed Pot Challenge" where we all save as much as possible either for Christmas or any thing you wish - it's very addictive! Have a look on page 1 and see what you think, you're more than welcome. :) Here's the link Whatever you do though, do save it as it so quickly mounts up - as you're already noticing. Well done!

BTW Larmy, I did notice your note to me about the fact that you're still saving with us, good for you! WE have a lot of 'silent savers' which is fine. We've got a lot of of ex smokers over there with us, including JD & DD.
BTW Larmy, very many congratulations on having quit for 2 years!!!!!! :T:T:T Congratulations to you too old reekie!!!!! :T:T:T Fantastic work by you both and such great journeys!

Well, I am sneaking back into this thread to have yet another try.

Managed 5 months smoke-free, about 3 years ago, managed 3 weeks smoke-free at the start of this year, plus numerous half hearted short lived attempts in between.

Currently about 34 hours since my last smoke.

The difference, this time , I hope, is that my DH quit on January 1st, after 30 years of smoking 40+ a day of roll ups, and a nasty health scare.

I will no longer have the constant temptation of him being a confirmed smoker.

I do feel hopeful, for this attempt. I have also looked at some of the Paul McKenna links , and found them useful.

I am nervous to post, because of all my previous failings, I don't want to drag anyone on the thread down.

But I will do my best :)
    I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<3

Hi jinty- We can do it :) I had the same reservations that you had about posting again thinking what if i fail again.

I am glad I did post now as it has helped me when I've been struggling to get a bit of support. My family don't think I will do it because I've had so many failed attempts.

I am just goimg to take it one day at a time. Good luck.

    Quoted from another site:

First of all, to all those people who have tried many times to quit, rather than viewing each attempt as a ‘failure’, try and see it as part of the process. I’ve been trying to give up for pretty much six years now, and during that time, I’ve managed days, weeks, months, even nearly a year without smoking – my friends joke that I’m amazing at giving up, well, I should be, I’ve done it so often. This time really does feel different, though, and I think it is partly because each of my past quit attempts has taught me something useful. While some of them may be personal to my own experience, I hope some of you may find it helpful.................

(I know you may have seen this already, but for anyone who hasn't)

Jinty The Paul McKenna links do make you think about it differently, don't they?
