  • Hi Guys!

    Hope everyone is keeping okay.

Nurse came early as I had an appointment at the hospital.....only another 2 to go this week:eek::eek::eek:.....hoping no more blood tests as I have bruises on bruises atm.

OH has been busy today. He was up at 5am working, then dropped DD to school. Got me to the hospital, then he has made a large vat of veggie soup from the leftovers of last weeks F&V box. Been to town and posted off 3 items/letters, picked a few things up we needed, went to bank, made lunch and used the massive lettuce in the F&V box and toms for a ham salad with baked spud, then had to write up a 5 minute talk for something he's doing atm.

WM & DW have been on and emptied too and toilet cleaned:p

Waiting for the solicitor to call back to make an appointment and must call the dentist as 2 of my teeth have broken and need to be referred back to the specialist at the hospital as they can't just pull my teeth at the dentist, but will ask them to put through as urgent as I'm awaiting further treatment but my mouth needs to be clear before I can have it.

Have been clearing out paperwork and OH got under the stairs and did all that the other day. Have freecycled quite a lot of bits and bobs.

Dinner will be something easy as my cough is still playing up and trying to eat is difficult.

DD has had a letter from the college to offer her an interview:j:j:j....i may have already told you that...cant remember:o

    Have a great day.

    PP

    Good afternoon chums,
I have just been given a large white cabbage by one of my neighbours (around a kilo) as she says 'Oh you will find something to do with it as I know you never throw anything out' !! My fame is spreading locally.
Now I like cabbage, but I think my brain has gone to mush with all the Christmas festivities so I need some inspiration I have so far shedded it all up and I have some that I will cook with my dinner tonigh, and a fairly large bowl of it in water in the fridge and two whopping big bags that I have put into the freezer. What I am looking for is a way to use it all up without just boiling it (I think I would probably be sick of the sight of it every day)So any ideas and recipes for shredded white cabbage apart from coleslaw.I don't even know anyone with a rabbit either. But it was kind of my neighbour I think she had it left over from New Year as the use by date is 8th Jan.

Nigella did a lovely coleslaw version, I know you said no slaw, but it's very different to the usual method. will try finding a link....

    :)
Hi everyone, I started posting about a month ago, but then the whole family were struck down with the lurgy, and I seemed to get a particularly bad dose of it, so was barely able to get myself into a horizontal position, never mind actually DO anything.

Anyway, I'm now more or less recovered, and trying to catch up on what's been happening. A belated Happy Christmas to you all, and Happy New Year too - hope you all had the christmas's you dreamed of, and that the New Year see's you all being happy and healthy, and wealthy would be lovely too ;)

There hasn't been much old style over the past few weeks, but starting to make up for it now, I did a big shop yesterday, and managed to bag lots of half price meat which is now bagged up and in my freezer, so that will see us through til the end of the month. I also managed to get to my local Indian wholesaler and stocked up on lentils, and spices, so plenty of curries and dahls in the pipeline too. WM is on, 2nd load of the day, and SC is taking care of dinner for us, mince with tatties tonight. Went to local shopping centre with DD this morning, she's not back at school til tomorrow, and got some good bargains in the sales, as its my mum's 70th birthday on Friday, so wanted to spoil her, and with all that we saved, she's got more presents than we planned, as our budget stttreeeeetched a bit further.

Tomorrow DD is back at school, and I have masses of studying with my OU course to catch up on, as fell quite far behind when I was ill. now, I'm off to try and read some more of your messages and catch up :D

Oh, before I forget, its DD's 9th birthday in Feb, and bless her, she know's money is a bit tight, so she's not expecting too much, but wants to have some friends round for an OS party, so Jelly and ice cream etc, which is great. But......I have no clue what to do for entertainment - she says she's a bit too old for pass the parcel and stuff like that - anyone on here got any bright idea's?? I did think a Kareoke (sp??) party would be good, but they are quite expensive to buy, and not sure if any of my friends have one I can borrow. Any other idea's.

Thanks everyone - I'll perhaps post it on the main board as well, and see if that throw's up any suggestions.

Have a good day, what's left of it, and if you've got snow, please keep it, I can't see any more of it ;)
