MV - must be reall hard but think you have made the right decision. I have a feeling come Jan when the train fares and nursery fees come up i will be earning a very small amount so may have to make a similar decision. Your commute sounded horrid too, mine is about an hour door to door and thats's bad enough. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy some time with LO and something might come up in the meantime that is more suited. That is lovely that you are going to have a leaving do although I'm sure it will be hard.
Doglover - that is lovely you have the grandparents to help with childcare, wish i lived nearer my mum. Also i keep thinking about number 2 (think i must be mad, she still wakes every 3 hour or so) but think will be having at least a two year gap.
MERFE - your mum sounds like she is being really difficult, imagine nt even giviing the kids presents!0 -
Thanks for the encouragement ladies..it means a lot x
MERFE you are so right about the worrying about being so far away thing. I've heard that nurseries are notorious for sending kids home if they get a whiff of a cold, and it would take me over an hour and half to get back to collect him if I needed to! I don't think OH or OH's company would be too impressed either if he had to keep leaving work to pick DS up..they have already docked him 3 days pay this month because he has gone over his sick leave for the year
Doglover I am thinking about no 2 too, but think we are going to wait until the middle of next year before we get going again as I would love a Spring/Summer baby this time.
Wendz - thanks. I think the leaving do will be nice, but I'll probably blub anyway! I'm hoping I get a leaving present out of it too!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
MV and Wendz maybe we'll be ttc at same time. I'd like a spring/early summer baby so hoping to catch the eggy in Aug/Sept next year. Took 8 months this time so not sure when it'll actually happen. I'm not sure what to do re contraception as our LO is that at the mo(!) but not sure if its worth going back on the pill for a few months then wait for it to get back out my system.
Wendz we still get a max of 5 hours on a brill night so not really sure what I'm thinking!!!0 -
Errr I can't do maths..looking at a 20 ish month gap.
We are lucky with grandparents but we do realise that and appreciate it0 -
At the moment we are planning on starting ttc again about oct next year when Poppy is 18 months, thinking we should maybe start a bit earlier though as took a year last time.0

I feel a little sad about all the TTC talk. I love my little girl and ideally I'd like another but I don't think I could face it:o I had constant morning sickness until nearly 20 weeks and I found the recovery from the C/S really hard (emotionally, more so even than physically if that makes sense). She's only 12 weeks though so I'm hoping my perspective will change with time. Good luck to all you ladies who will be trying soon though.
Thanks for all the xmas pressie ideas posted a while back. P will be getting a jumperoo, a twinkle twinkle little scout, a vtech walker, a vtech lulaby book, lamaze toy, and a baby einstein toy. I had a boots gift card which covered most of the jumperoo and the rest were bargains so I've sorted her xmas for a small budget which is great. I've also got her a few board books/buggy books as I am obsessed with reading and want her to be the same so will start her young lol
I've also just bought her the highchair posted on the grabbit board this morning. It looks really good though I can't believe I'm buying this sort of stuff already. My baby seems to be growing too quickly:eek::starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
Wow Claire your LO will have a very happy Christmas! Really don't stress about TTC 2 or not. If it feels right you'll do it. There's part of me that thinks I'd be a better parent both time wise and financially to just one child but I would like another. I'll have to weigh everything up once I'm back at work and check the grandparents can manage another. So for me it's only initial thoughts.
Those with more than one can you let me know your experience of how you manage to share your time and love and whether it was a significant financial difference for a second.
Also, are there any only children here? If so how do you feel about it? Did you enjoy it or longed to have a sibling?
Well DH has Pd me off! Grrr! He took LO to his parents for 3 hours earlier and I was grateful for the chance to sort out the house etc without LO. He's come back thinking he's some sort of baby whisperer/modern day Mary poppins.....until LO reflux puked on him. He then sulked and has now gone to work. When I said that's what happens he was all defensive saying he knows because he's been around all LOs life. I know that bur he has spent a large chunk of the waking hours at work.
Nothing major, just annoyed me. Esp as I know the inlaws would have done everything to look after LO whilst he was there.
Sorry, rant over!0 -
Hiya not been on this thread for ages! I have a question about potty training twins.... not sure if there is anyone here with twins?
Mine are 3 in Feb, planned to potty train earlier in year but they weren't ready but by Aug, (lets call him Twin 1) twin 1 decided to start using the potty for wees as we had the potties out around the house. Twin 2 wouldn't used the potty til at least a month later.
Whilst naked Twin 1 always went on potty but with pants he'd just soil himself which doesn't even bother him. Twin 2 is really getting not wanting to soil pants but it's a slow process and he did his first pooh on the potty this evening after telling me he needed to pooh.
Should I continue to train both together or go back to nappies on twin 1 as today he was naked and urinating all over the laminate flooring and looking at it in interest as if he's gone back a few months in development!! I was disappointed to see this as he'd previously always used the potty when naked. I don't know if it's relevant but twin 1 has been diagnosed mildly autistic too so communication is very difficult, but he's having therapy and more help is yet to come with autism over the next year when we get to go on a course to help us learn to parent a child with autism.
So should I stop trying to put twin 1 in pants for a while and try again once twin 2 is trained?
Thank you x0 -
Sorry can't help with twins- having enough trouble trying to work one out! Hopefully someone will come along with some help soon.
Claire - don't worry about TTC No 2 I won't be for a long time yet. I always knew I would have at least a 3 year gap after Leo for various reasons and these first 12 weeks haven't changed my mind. My SIL will have a 17 month gap between her 2 and she is already panicking about it. I told her I was pleased for her but I don't envy her :rotfl:Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Hiya I'm a bit of a long term lurker! thought i'd post regarding 2nd baby. My DD is currently 10 months and i am pregnant with number 2 due in May. We wanted a close age gap, but it's not going to be easy. I hope they will be company for each other although i know they will fight! There is 8 years between my sister and i and i feel like we were 2 only children really since we were at totally different stages of life. x"Find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life." - Harvey Mackay
