Wendz - my LO was the same, loved the amount of space when she transfered to the cot. The only problem we had at first was her sticking her arms & legs thru the bars and thinking she was stuck.

MV - I can't work out how I'm going to return to freelancing and get the nursery cover I need either, so may be a SAHM for a while until I get it figured. My maternity allowance stops in two weeks after that we're gonna be a proper one income family. I sympathise re feeling lonely my closest mummy friend returned to full time work last week.

Hi Tss. I got an L shaped pillow in Dunelm and a pillow case for it for £8 total. It was a Fogarty pillow and I used it for BF and still use it for comfort when giving LO her bottle. I can't find the exact one on their website, but it is similar to this one:

Is anyone here a full time SAHM?

me too.. But with 13 consultants/therapists and appointments almost weekly it would have to be a very very understanding employer to accept me.. on top of that I have arthritis so anything which involves repetetive movements, lifting or long periods of standing/sitting causes massive amounts of pain..

I dont even want to think about how much childcare would be

When with KH and he worked ft my job was the house and children.. unless it was something I physically could not do.. Since being with OH who cant find work we can live on at the moment (to the point the jobcentre told him to stop going!!!) I seem to still do everything.

eg.. he has fed and changed Squeak this morning, loaded the DW.. made a cuppa and I have taken the boys to optician, vacuumed right through downstairs and most of the way up the stairs, hung out washing, cooked dinner, paid for the new windows :D and collapsed in a pain riddled heap for a snooze.

I dont mind it TBH.. I dont want to go leave my children for someone else to look after they are mine.. I actually LIKE being at home with them. I hate playgroups, I have no friends I can pop and visit. Extras are usually covered with ebay profits :D The appointments are all a bit overwhelming at times though.. :(

  • Yep I'll be a SAHM as well - no thats a lie i'll be a WAHM, I've been made redundant :( I found out when I was 7 weeks.

But to be fair it's probably for the best, I think I put off having kids as I didnt want to be working full time and not have more time to spend with my baby (now i'm 35 and the clock kinda started ticking)

So i have started my own business starting on 22/08 (i'll be 17 weeks) with my old work place as my first client. It'll be tough for the next 9 months, i dont know how i'm going to get more business with an ever expanding waist line but i'm hoping we'll somehow manage and once baby's born and we're in some kind of routine i'll be able to start building things up (my mum, MIL, DP and I will be sharing the childcare).

So yes it's a bit of a bummer and was a real worry to begin with but now i think i would never have made the choice to go self-employed and i get to do what i've always wanted to do which is be at home for my baby (most of the time).

Gosh PP, I never knew you had arthritis - my mam has it and I see how much she struggles with little things like changing E's bum or folding his pushchair down, I can't imagine having it along with being pregnant :(

I couldn't be a SAHM - it would drive me mad sitting in all day, plus we couldn't afford for me not to work. We go out most days, eg seeing family, going to baby groups, baby and mum walking group, taking the dogs out etc.

E starts nursery in a few weeks (he will be 19 weeks old) when I'm at uni and whilst I feel guilty as hell cos he is so young, I think it will do him the world of good and give him confidence as he grows x we don't have anyone to help with childcare either

Also if I didnt work, we'd have to sacrifice a lot (eg, a car each, a holiday each year) and I'm not giving that up! xx:rotfl:

I dont ever fold the pushchair.. buttons on baby cardigans are probably my feeblest thing.. I have cried over not being able to fasten them.. often!

I have it in my hands and hips and legs which is why the SPD is so bad because coupled with that I simply cannot walk.. I also have RSI in both wrists.

Some days I cant change nappies, I struggle cutting up food to eat, I cannot walk until the drugs kick in.. the meds I take for the arthritis I cant take when pregnant but the hormones actually do help a little bit but it is horrible.

Blimey Pigpen, if you were a horse they would have shot you ages ago! Don't know how you cope with all that.

I need some opinions on childminders versus nurseries from you lovely people. I am going into work next month to discuss my return to work so need to find Childcare for baby ice. I am undecided on a childminder or a nursery. Anyone have any words of wisdom about either?

    TIA
