Hi Rach, I bought the Britax Eclipse for my mum to use with LO. She will be looking after her one day a week and she finds the stage 0 car seat too heavy with LO in it and wanted a car seat to stay fixed in the car. She put LO in it for the first time on Friday and said it was great and that LO seemed to love it and find it really comfortable. It has 5 reclining positions.
Thanks CL, is your LO big enough for it then? L is only 20lb9oz now at over 9 months! I just leave the infant carrier in the car and carry L out to it mostly as I find it hard carrying him in it too, so heavy in one hand!

pigpen - yes i intend to keep him rf as long as poss which is why i was thinking of getting the first class. i might get this anyway as my sister might use it at my mum's or something or in case we get 2 cars in the future or something. I like the seat you have but can't justify the cost when we rarely drive I don't think, we don't have the money atm.

Becles, how annoying about the neighbour and your ex saying stuff. I'd be livid! Shame their lives are so boring if they have nothing better to do than gossip about yours! :o

rach, we had the Eclipse car seat for a little while and loved it (then DH got into a car accident, so we ditched it out of precaution and accidentally bought the wrong model to replace it). Now we have the Prince which I DO NOT LIKE. So massive vote in favor of the Eclipse, especially over the Prince ;).

also, about your budget, try some great recipes from this site: http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk which is run by our lovely weezl.

Ooo injuries...we're quite lucky, touch wood, in that we haven't had any blood or massive injuries yet. Though the way he rolls and flings himself around, I'm surprised! The worst he's done is just big bruises or marks that usually fade within a day. Hope I didn't just jinx it!!

It's a lovely day, so not sure how we're going to capitalise on that...maybe a trip to the playground and then some time in the garden or something. Better get dressed first! :o

Our LO was weighed this week and was 18 lb 2 oz. She fits fine in it. I will keep her in her stage 0 car seat in my car and in DHs, but Mum wanted something like this for her car and she will only be in for about 30 mins a week.

I think in a month or two we will buy one for us and have a plan to get it cheap ;). They are selling on Amazon for £78. If you sign up to a free 30 day trial at Lovefilm you get a £20 Amazon voucher. I'm going to sign up at Mum's, FILs and ours and (hopefully) get the carseat for £18.

Rach.. we drive every week day and then we do regular long journeys on the motorway so I could justify the money to keep her safe.. if we didn't do the motorway runs quite so often I would possibly have gone for something she could be rear facing a bit longer but if it was just school runs and tesco where we never go above 20mph I doubt I would feel it was so important.

Rach, fwiw I don't think 175 per month for 3 people is that much and can understand why you would struggle to stick to it. I think the price of shopping these days is quite high (although apparantly set to get higher!) Also I know your dh has a hot meal at work, but just having a piece of toast doesn't seem like much to me? Even something like egg and beans on toast or a jacket potato would be more sufficient.... Is he doing that because of the budget situation?

Becles - Ignore your nosey neighbours, I'm sure they will find someone/something else to gossip about soon enough :)

We had a sainsbury meal deal last night, which was pretty nice, the red wine was really strong and my head was spinning after the second glass? We normally only drink white/rose wine so not sure if that is why..... I have been looking at the sun £9.50 holidays, but as dh is a Liverpool fan, he is quite against me booking one, the thing is our last holiday abroad was 8years ago and since then we have had a couple of short camping trips and a hoseaeason 4 day break...not much really!! So I am tempted to ignore him and try and get the vouchers anyway and book. The kids will never have a holiday if we don't try and get mega cheap deals like these.

    Mel x

Still livid with ex and his gossiping. His behaviour was bang out of order and it's caused more problems rather than helping. Boys have only told their very close and trustworthy friends the truth and have had to spend the day dealing with awkward questions from other friends who now know :(

Been a scorching hot day here. Just been pottering about in the garden and took the dogs out a couple of times. Had a vest top on and have got tan lines :D
Here I go again on my own....

Feel sorry for husband as well, as it's added pressure if he does come back either to move back in or just to visit Charlotte. I still love him and haven't decided if it's completely finished yet. If it was just left as we had differences and he moved out, it would have been easier to move him back in again without the tongues wagging.

  • evening everyone!

Well I thought things couldnt get any worse with ds 2 this week-well I was wrong! We've not long got back from A & E-he tripped in the garden and caught his eye (well just above his eyebrow) on his scooter and it was quite deep and needed glueing back together. I'm so proud of how brave he was even though I could see it was hurting when the dr was leaning it and putting the glue on :( hopefully hes got it all out of his system now!!

    Gosh madness, hope he's okay!

Becles, I know what you mean but the best thing to do (and the hardest!) is to ignore the stupid busybodies. I'm sure they'll move on to someone else in a few days, that's how these things go!

Ah the dreaded Monday, never fun to go back to work. Ho hum, at least the weather looks nice!
