Hope everyone feels better soon PP.

My cold has almost gone now. I've only had it a few days which is a huge improvement. Before my op, colds would drag on for 2-4 weeks. It was only mildly uncomfortable and soothed with paracetamol, whereas before it would feel like my face was going to explode and codeine would barely touch the pain.

Been a scorching hot day here - was up to 25°C this afternoon. Been to boot camp and it was tough and I felt ready to drop at the end :o

Eek sorry everyone is sick right now! Finn was sick pretty much all the time for the first 6 months I went back to work, so it was rather nightmareish, but lucky *fingers crossed* we seemed to have turned that corner.

It's FRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDAY! This week has dragged by so slowly. Any plans for the weekend? Going to enjoy the hot sunshine tomorrow, I think, and just lounge around outside. Sunday we're going out sans-baby for an anniversary lunch - THAT'S going to feel weird, as we very very rarely leave Finn (the ILs are come to visit).

    @CL - I'm glad you're getting a bit more sleep.

I went to a weaning class this week (part of the NHS I guess) and I was really surprised that it was totally focused and biased toward Baby Led Weaning. I was happy about it as that's what I was planning on doing, but I honestly thought the class would be about purees and spoon feeding. I wasn't actually going to go but I bumped into a friend from my baby group while I was at the doctors and she told me it was on. Glad I did as I got loads of tips and ideas and I'm really excited about weaning now.

I also had a nice thought yesterday that I've been breastfeeding for 4 months. When I think back to the first 3 weeks and also the time I had Thrush and Mastitis and how close I kept getting to quitting I'm so happy I stuck it out. I have my mum and OH to thank for that as they were so supportive through all my moaning.

I've still not heard back from work about the request to have 2 days holiday a week to use up my holiday. They've acknowledged the email, but no answers yet :(

DD is still suffering with wind/colic/constipation. She had a normal day of 3 nice big poos and then slept for 11 hours that night. Then she goes back to not pooing and being in pain and waking again. We went to the docs this week because she had streaks of blood in her nappy. This time she said that the latest advice was not to give suppositorys but to give babies Lactulose. So I've got some of that but I can't bring myself to give it to her. She seems to little to be taking things to help her poo. I've been drinking loads of water as the doc said that's about the only thing I can do that might help improve things for her.

aless - we're off to Brighton tomorrow :) Quite excited about a proper day trip with DD. OH is on holiday for a week so we're thinking about going to Bird World, Wisley Gardens, Swimming and Ikea/Mothercare to buy highchair and travel cot.

I've been recommended to buy a travel cot as a playpen (just to put DD in while I cook dinner/clean rabbit/go to loo etc). She's getting to the point where I can't just leave her on the floor anymore. Somehow she managed to grab the cable to the laptop yesterday  Bad Mummy I know.

    Morning

I'm taking the bairns out today. Luckily I managed to get jobs to mystery shop a bowling alley and a museum, so I'm get paid to entertain my own bairns :D If only that could happen every day :rotfl:

Got boot camp first thing in the morning, then audits to do on Sat and Sun mornings. No plans for the rest of the weekend though. Will probably work in the garden if it's nice as the borders need weeding again.

Have a good day all xx

    Hello everyone :hello:

Well DD1 is back today! I've missed her but it has been nice not to have everyone woken up before 7 :rotfl: for some reason she jjust can't sleep in. She's back at 4 :)

PP I hope everyone feels better soon :)

CL I used to live on a farm as a child and loved it, I still love the smell of cut grass :D

We went to pizza hut yesterday because they had a cheap deal.... Got into town at just before 5 (to change bus, didn't fancy walking the rest of the way lol)and went to get money out... but no. The bank had decided to play silly beggars and my card was declined in every machine. Wouldn't even let me check my balance!

So off we toddle home on the next bus, having been out an hour already, it's almost 6 and call the bank. They tell me there's nothing wrong with my card :mad: so I use online to put my money into another account and off we go. By this point the 6.45 bus is due. By the time we get to pizza hut it is gone 7pm and the place is packed. we had to wait ages for a table and they just cram you up against the wall in the entrace which is not fun with a pushchair

The lady serving us was lovely, I felt bad for her because she had the table from hell next to us. Eventually we get out at 9.20, leaving us with about 7 minutes to get down the (long lol) road. we are 3/4 of the way there when the bus goes past 4 minutes early

So... we had to walk up to town and sit there for an hour until 10.30pm. We would have walked but there are no street lights on the way home from town and it's not safe to walk with LO's at night, people drive down there so fast as well, so although I'd liked to have been home at a reasonable hour it was almost 11 before we got in!

Have I mentioned that an hourly bus service is a bit carp sometimes?! Also all this messing about from the bank started when they 'refunded' me that £500 on the mis sold account... I don't see the refund all they did was agree to stop calling me at all hours of the day and night demanding that I pay it in full  after this latest fiasco I am going in to demand an actual refund of the £200 I already paid in unfair 'charges'!

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant :o

Squeak was so good last night though, she ate loads of salad and was grinning like a loon at anyone who looked at her :rotfl:

Oh and I've been costing the school uniforms... because of the issues with getting DD1 to secondary in 2 years time, I have decided to keep them where they are. She needs new uniforms as do the twins, and it is going to cost £200 not including shoes, bags or extras like lunchboxes :(

She did have them, but they are not her favourite :rotfl:

I did give her lots of cucumber and when I said to OH she ate a lot of cucumber he got cross... apparently cucumbers are killing people at the moment:rotfl:I was aware they'd had an outbreak of something nasty in Germany, but I didn't know it was cucumbers or that it was affecting people in the UK but OH seems to think it is:o

I liked the idea of BLW, and when she was about 5.5 months Squeak was in a highchair when we went to sainsburys for breakfast and she just grabbed a bit of toast out of my friend's toddlers hand and started gumming it lol.

Enjoy the haircut, mine badly needs doing but the children keep having nits so I'm way too paranoid of getting chucked out midway through the hairwash to even try a hairdresser :o I do keep checking and nothing is coming out but that would be my worst nightmare :o

Hurray for Friday - this week has seemed very long. I'm jealous of all you people eating out - without or without babies - I can't remember the last time I eat out, we used to go quite regularly with work for lunch but since my new boss started we haven't been and OH isn't interested. We are however planning a picnic tomorrow on Tooting Bec common for a priate event. I got a new sewing machine recently so I've made Erin a waistcoat, bandana and eye patch - now I just need to convince her to wear them!

    hi all

giz - that's good about the weaning thing, not sure exactly where you live but i know they are trying to promote it more here as the natural extension to bf. I know it's not for everyone for all kinds of reasons but works for us. it's also great to hear from delain and others that it works just as well when FF! the weaning session a hv did at the first time mum's group was all purees etc though she mentioned blw but only to say she didn't know much about it! i said a bit but we hadn't started yet i'd only read the book and sir m had started i think or was about to. i think all the mums there thought it was just me being hippyish again with my cloth nappies, bf a baby older than all the other ones there and then showing a lady how to use a sling :rotfl:

can i ask pigpen or someone else if they can help - how many feeds does squeak have now? L is almost 8.5 months and feeds about 7-7.30 when wakes, then before nap about 9 (has started this since not feeding at night and seems hungry then), then about 11ish or before lunch anyway, then after nap about 2.30-3 and then about 4.30-5 then just before bed about 6.45. last night he didn't take any at bedtime, i was pretty upset:( and he then woke in the night after 4 nights of sleeping through :(:(:( though i didn't feed him then. bearing in mind he eats 3 meals a day plus an afternoon snack i think maybe the after nap and before tea feeds could be combined. He doesn't drink much water though so I'm a bit nervous but he's often v fussy at the 11ish and 2.30ish feeds these days too. I am finding bf quite hard at the moment as he's constantly scratching my face, usually inside my lip and pulling my glasses off! however he won't take a bottle do i couldn't stop even if i wanted to (which i don't).

my 4 packages finally came last night :) my RnR carrier, some bandana bibs, cheap 2nd hand clothes and nappies! :D

I'm currently trying to do a food spreadsheet so i can keep to the food budget better, must stop nipping into sainsburys with sir monster and coming out with £25 of stuff! I get £175 a month to feed us, though dh doesn't eat a main meal at home as he gets a hot lunch at work.
