Sorry, should add to the above that with our routine she is currently only waking once in the middle of the night, usually around 2-3am .
But last night was different. She was still super sleepy at 22:30 and only took 2oz. So I put her back in her cot and said to DH we best go to bed now as I know she'll wake in an hour or two hungry. So when she woke up I looked at the clock and it was 4.25am! I couldn't believe it!! 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep was lovely! So I fed her and I thought she might stay awake then, but no she was happy go back in her cot to sleep until 7am.
What I have learnt in the past couple of weeks is to make sure that at the night and middle of night feeds is to literally pick her up, change her nappy, give her bottle and put in cot. No fussing about or talking.
Oh, and one more point. We use sleeping bags which I'm sure helps as she's such a fidget she always used to kick her blankets off.
Sorry, for the lengthy posts - just typing as I'm thinking!0 -
Been catching up as we have been away on LO’s first holiday. We were pushing it a bit with a long flight, 5 hour time difference and the heat/humidity but she coped reasonably well.
Can some answer a quick question re sterilising solution. I took this with us and it leaked in the suitcase on an expensive, new cardigan. It’s left a white stain like bleach would, is this what it is? In which case do I have any hope of rescuing it? Could I dye it or would that not work either?
LO has been much better behaved since being back, I actually get some me time (well time to do some housework) occasionally now and I think we might have cracked this BF lark too. It will probably be short lived as we hit the 4 month growth spurt this week and she is getting signs of beginning teething too.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Yes sterilising solution is like weak bleach. They both have sodium hypochlorite in.
I would try dying the cardigan. If it's ruined, you've got nothing to lose except the cost of the dye.
Next time take sterilising tabletsHere I go again on my own....0 -
afternoon all x
make it3 sounds like you had a good time except for the leakage, no advice on that sorry.
Weighed Bob on the wii board this morning and its probably not very accurate but weighed him as 19lbs which seems about right.
Giz doesn't hurt to start looking as early as poss, also if you are in london I think they can have quite long waiting lists at the good ones. I know DD nursery I had her name down before I even went on maternity because I knew that was where I wanted her to go but in the end roadworks meant I couldn't get to work in time and had to change to a childminder I could leave her at earlier. DS went to nursery for 2 days a week when he was 2 because he was desparate and I had to drag him out of preschool when I dropped DD off because he wanted to stay, there was no wait despite it being a fab nursery, it just depends on the area etc.0 -
I think we are going to visit the local nursery soon and get Poppy's name down just in case there is a long waiting list. Definately worth looking into it i think. I am not sure when i will go back to work yet which is the only thing.
Poppy didn't go to sleep till 1 am last night....fun! OH is working today and managed to get her to have a nap this morning so i had a shower which felt good. OH only went back to work friday so slowly getting to grips with it all.0 -
Afternoon gang.
Nursery's - I have visited a couple already and put Josh's name down for one that I really want for January 2012 when I (supposedly) return to work. The nursery is so popular however that I have been warned there is a good chance a place may not be available by Jan
Keeping my fingers crossed though as it is a lovely one, and the other I saw just didn't have as good a vibe IMHO.
On sleeping patterns, we have been really lucky with Josh. He has generally been sleeping through since he was about 11 weeks old (he was 17 weeks on Friday).
Our routine is very basic. We give him a bath at about 6.30pm, get him into a babygro and then I give him a feed. He then goes into his rocky chair and falls asleep. He occasionally will wake up maybe once and have a little grizzle but a quick cuddle and rock and he generally goes back to sleep. This is brilliant as it means OH and I can have an evening/dinner.
Up until about 12 weeks he would have his 'witching hour' from around 7pm, and wouldn't let us eat! Thank goodness he seemed to grow out of that!
I normally head off for bed at about 10pmish so I can have a read of a book, and OH will change Josh's nappy and give him his final dream feed (expressed breast milk in a bottle) at around 11pm.
He then puts him into his cot in the nursery, and that is that. Josh will then generally sleep till around 6-6.30am, when I'll give him a big morning feed and then express 5oz of b.milk for that nights expressed feed.
Interesting to hear about the 4 month growth spurt PP mentioned, as a week or so ago, a couple of nights he woke up at around 3am crying and wanting an additional feed. Must have been what that was..seems to have stopped again now.
I keep expecting things to change as he has been so good in terms of sleeping, but at the moment I am really happy with how it is going.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hello
feeling rather bored, so decided to stop lurking and post for once.
Elliot's feet have finally grown-after having his last lot of shoes and trainers for 6 months! I was begining to wonder if they'd ever grow again lol. The choice of shoes in clarks wasn't too good though, so have ordered new shoes and trainers off their website instead and will be collecting them instore. They seem to think that now the weathers picking up-no one wants proper shoes right now? There was a lot of sandles and lightweight type trainers but that was it.
Did someone mention ricecakes? Elliot only liked the apple flavoured onesthe plain ones were obviously too bland, along with baby rice!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll get a nursery placement for him in january, as he just missed it for september. People keep telling me how ready he is for nursery now, i think he needs it too. I can't offer him enough, although he do attend playgroups and see other children in the week to play with.

I've been looking into nursery's today and looked at the ofsted reports. Was disappointed that the nursery opposite my place of work scored 'satisfactory' in all areas. Should I be basing my decision on these reports? Only found one other nursery in my area that scored higher than satisfactory.
Do nursery's use washable nappies? One of the nursery's I looked at says the nappies are included in the fee...but we don't use disposables.
@MV that's made me feel better that you seemed to have gone through the 4 month spurt then and come out the other side. Last night DD slept through to 5:30am so I'm hoping the 3am is coming to an end now.
@tinks - that's great newsBaby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Hi everyone. For those of you that were saying that your LOs liked Little Star yogurts, I was in Lidl yesterday and the packs with 100% extra free were £1. 12 for £1 seems pretty good to me.0
