    hi all

Just after a bit of advice please?

I took Immy to the docs Friday morning as she felt chesty, it wasn't my usual doctor, but she said that her chest sounded clear, but to go back if still worried.

This morning i can feel her wheezing when i'm winding her, she seems ok otherwise....

Should i take her back again? Dont want them to think i'm neurotic (sp)....

    Thanks

Hello BigBird, are you breast feeding? maybe that's helping his immune system although I'm bfing and Erin got a cold in the first or second month.

Mum and baby groups don't have to be competitive, just make sure you sit next to people you know are having a harder time than you! At my first parent class the HV made us all tell our birth story and ever story was different then she pointed out that just like our birth stories all our babies would be different so not to be competitive and that followed through to all the rest of the classes and the parent baby group she hosted.

My OH will let Erin eat anything he eats which usually consists of chocolate biscuits or ice cream. We were in the supermarket once and she took a liking to a leak so he let her munch through half the thing before we got to the checkout! It had dirt on it as well ewwww.

SJP we can't give medical advice but if she otherwise seems ok and is playing happily it's probably not a rush to the docs today situation it being a Sunday.

I found my docs didn't mind how many times I went to them, when they are so little it's always best to get them checked if you think something is wrong.

  • Morning all :)
Tigger has had possetted all over me 4 times today already. What a lovely start to the day. :p The first 3 times being 2mins after I had cleaned his face and neck with cotton wool and water.
We had itti bitti d'lish nappies (which I loved) when he was a bit smaller. Then when he outgrew them we moved over to bumgenius V4s as OH preferred these, plus at the rate Tigger was growing, sized nappies didn't seem very MSE.
I have a confession to make, we still use disposibles when out and about and also at night. I'd like to try reusables for night time but really don't think the Bumgenius will be up for the job of Tiggers 10-11 sleeps overnight. Any of you lovely ladies have a recommendation for a good nighttime nappy for babies who can quite happily drink around 7-8oz before bed?

Bigbird I'd just be happy that baby is escaping the germs :)

We all had a horrible tummy bug a while back and Squeak had it too, ick.

Jennynoo your OH sounds like mine. I'll eat most veg raw, in fact I tend to prefer it that way but leeks? _pale_ They taste all oniony and quite burny raw :(

SJP Don't be afraid to go to the doctors if you feel the need. They get paid to check sick people not to make judgements about whether someone is neurotic or not!

  • SJP is the wheezing related to the feed? Tigger sometime sounds a bit like Darth Vader after getting some milk down the wrong tube. I think you should take him back if it's still worrying you. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have a really neurotic mum question, which should give you a laugh if nothing else. Is it normal for a baby to not catch a cold from it's parents? I'm just getting over my 3rd cold since Joe was born, but he hasn't caught one at all. I keep reading that babies catch several colds in their first year, but at 4 1/2 months he's had nothing despite all of my coughing and spluttering around him. Or if he has, it's been so mild as to not be noticeable. I'm starting to worry now that when he finally does catch something it's going to make him really ill :( Please someone tell me I'm being stupid! :o

Yes, Squeak has had 2 colds.. one from my niece and one from DGS.. the were not my germs so i'd not given her the antibodies. He might just be one of those children who gets nothing... be glad, there is so little ou can do for baby snots you don't want him being ill!

If you are worried take her but it is probably mucus or milk in her throat.. babies don't have the same cough reflex as us so where we would clear our throat with a little cough she can't do that and has to wait until it dislodges itself or it makes her cough involuntarily.

All docs know mothers are neurotic..

  • Thanks PigPen, was it just a normal booster or the special bamboo hemp type thingys?
Just spent a few mins watching Tigger tap dance in his jumperoo :rotfl:he hasn't figured out to jump and and isn't really tall enough so we've put a big flat box underneath. It arrived on Friday and he's been in it a few times already - I love this thing!:T

From what I'm reading the bamboozle stretchies are good for night time.

My 3 nappies are in the wash with soapnuts :D I want to use them again. I'm definitely ordering more today. I'm still waiting for the council nappies to try out (which are from the nappy lady), but I just can't wait.

@bigbird my DD hasn't caught my cold either.

I feel a little more organised today - I've booked my car for MOT/Service (anyone know - do I need to take the car seat out?), renewed the house insurance and booked my place on a 4 week "new baby group" course starting in 2 weeks.

Hoping I can get out this afternoon to buy something clay like to take DDs hand foot prints.
