Oh - I have a toddler who absolutely refuses to have a bath. I don't know why, but suddenly she hates them. I've been giving her a wipe down with a flannel, and occasionally wrestling her into the bath anyway. Does anyone have any ideas?!

Morning all. Not sure WHAT is up with Finn (God, PLEASE let it be a very short-lived phase) but we were up at 2am again last night...for an hour and THANKFULLY he went back to sleep. I think it's partially DH's fault that they were up so long, but I'm tired of arguing about it. I had a feel, thinking maybe it's molars (we've had some vile nappies lately, too), but nothing there. At least if it were teeth, I would know what was wrong! I definitely need a massive coffee injection. It was fine when I was still on mat leave, but this is so not cool.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Josh's was absolutely minging. It was all snotty looking and the smell was stomach turning. It dried up with in a day or so though.
If you're worried get the midwife/HV to check it next visit.ladybirdintheuk wrote: »Oh - I have a toddler who absolutely refuses to have a bath. I don't know why, but suddenly she hates them. Charlotte went through a phase like that with the shower, but I used to just stick her in and wash her while she was having a tantrum while telling her not to be so silly. I'm a cruel MamHere I go again on my own....0 -

Take her swimming? I'm kind of joking, but then again that's probably what I would do!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Lol pigpen, she's only had 1 bath so far, I'm sure by the time gets another it will be well healed
It doesn't smell at all and I did a spot of googling last night that all pretty much said the same, it's normal as long as there's no pong...
Ladybird, I think the bath aversion is pretty common.. Just carry on as you are at the moment and she'll get over it... It won't kill her just having wash downs... Does she go swimming at all? That might be a way to get her used to being submerged...
Hmm... Hubby was supposed to have left on the school run 2mins ago... I can still hear him wrestling C into her clothes...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Can't help with the cord, my lot were all dry and crispy underneath.
Ladybird I shower my lot, baths are treats in my house. It's easier to line them up and get them done in the shower :rotfl:

sling her in anyway.. DD2 did this from 14 months until she was about 6.. it took 2 of us to bath her.. 1 to hold and 1 to scrub.. it is traumatic but only takes a few minutes and has to be doneKrystaltips wrote: »Lol pigpen, she's only had 1 bath so far, I'm sure by the time gets another it will be well healed

No shower here - we don't have that kind of modern technology in our house - she loves showers when we go swimming though, and she loves going swimming? I think part of the problem this week was that she has been really tired, so by the time she is home from nursery and has had some supper she is tired enough to be properly cranky iyswim. Seeing as I'm at home today I will see if she will get in the bath with me this afternoon
She has also decided that Daddy is better than Mummy when it comes to bedtime. She insists on Daddy brushing her teeth and putting her to bed if he is around (luckily she doesn't seem to mind me doing it when he isn't here!). It is quite funny though, because he NEVER brushes his teeth, and is really paranoid about brushing hers for some reason (i think it is just a step outside of his comfort zone) and always tries to make excuses, but she won't let him get away with them :rotfl:.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009
