The hospital was good when James was admitted when he was 2. I was stressed and once he got settled on the ward, the nurse said I looked like I could do with a cuppa. She came back with a coffee and some toast for me as it was late evening and I'd nothing to eat since lunchtime.
I think it depends who is on shift. It was all mean ones on Boxing Day but on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day some of them gave OH and Alice drinks and even gave them food.

Hmmmmmmm this sounds familiar!! Even worse was the hospital was under massive refurbishment so there was literally nothing. DH had to trek across the the road to one of those random snack vans to procure a much-needed bacon butty (pale tea & toast was not doing it for me...neither was living off the cereal bars I'd packed, LOL).
You mean they didn't even have proper food for you?

I know its not healthy to be obsessed by the scales but I have found my weight gain during pregnancy and loss after completely bizarre.

I had normal BMI at booking in, but only gained 12lbs in total by full term, so was utterly surprised to have a 8lb 6oz baby. Out of curiosity I got on the scales when I got home from hospital expecting to be at least that much lighter and had only lost 4 lb.

Now today, I am weighing in at 2lbs less than my booking in weight - like how is that possible when I have been chomping away on all the biscuits that are meant for our visitors and still look 5 months pregnant?

I'd say you're jammy, my weight only ever goes up these days :rotfl:

It's not the same or as extreme, but when I had to take my son to A&E the other week, after we'd seen the doctor and got the glue stitches on his head, we then had to take a ten minute walk to find a cash machine before I could get my car out of the car park...!

Hope he's ok now. James has had his head glued several times, so I know how scary that is!

Weight is weird and not a true measure of your size. You can weight a few pounds different at different times of the same day. Try it and see how much it varies.

Also it depends on how your muscles carry the fat that covers them. You can still be the same weight with the same percentage body fat, but look loads different depending on if the muscle underneath is toned or not.

It's best to take body measurements to track your size more accurately.

  • I'm like a Zombie today. Someone woke at 4;50 feeling a bit poorly and wouldn't let me leave her. Had a bit of a snooze on the sofa together, but i'm still properly zonked. And it is my turn to do the "running about like a blue arsed fly" part of the job (there is a particularly busy task which we take turns to do) today. It is one of those things where you have to keep lots of plates spinning at once and I just know i'm going to end up dropping them all!

    Morning

Hope today goes ok and you manage to cope with the busy task.

Bit of a panic here as Josh forgot to give Charlotte a kiss before he left and she screamed the place down! Thankfully he heard from outside and came back in and gave her a kiss, so peace was restored :D

She was clingy at nursery yesterday. She was hugging me and said she didn't want to stay and wanted to go back home. I was trying to persuade her to stay and the teacher said she had a flapjack and asked if Charlotte wanted to share it. She immediately left me and went to sit on the sofa with the teacher. So she loves me less than half a flapjack...... :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good day xx

    Just been catching up.

When DS was admitted to hospital when I was heavily pregnant I didn't get any food until about 2.30pm when I managed to get to the canteen after DS was finally sent up to the ward. I had to ask the staff on the childrens ward to get DS something as he hadn't had anything either and luckily they were ok and got him some toast.

Thats my daily moan of the hospital done for today;):rotfl:

Get the keys to new house this time next week:eek:
