We seiously need storage - I think an awful lot of problems in keeping our house clean and organised stem from a lack of storage

Yes!!! I agree! It took me a lot longer that you to work that one out.

We have too much stuff, so the solution (it's ongoing) is to decide what each room is for, what needs to be in there, and what we need to store it in.

Going to make lunch for us all now and chill with kids as DH is working today, he is catching up with me later at the party, enjoy the rest of your day ladies and gents.

    :hello:Afternoon!!

I meant to be up and doing early this morning, but slept really badly - very heavy rain and strong winds, so very noisy. Switched the alarm off, went back to sleep - and was woken by the postman at 8.30.:o

DD and I were cooking a meal from 'Jamie's 30 Minute Meals' last night - when halfway through the cooker suddenly died with a bang and a puff of smoke.

Happily, my very nice neighbour :A didn't mind me finishing the chicken under her grill!

Spent the rest of the evening researching replacements, and am dithering a bit - any opinions on:

    this or this ???

I've always had Belling, but am awfully tempted by the Smeg - a friend has one.

    Or any other suggestions?

We'll be ordering later today, as I can't cope with ready meals for five of us in the microwave every day... or getting a takeaway... actually, I saw a slowcooker on offer when I was in Sainsbury so that may be an idea - I've wanted one for ages!

Serena - slow cooker is definitely a good idea as a stop gap. Even if you order today it'll take time, so its a great excuse to get one! As you're going to have to use it a lot over the next week or so, make sure you get a decent one - it's still cheaper getting it in the sales than it would be normally, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of use out of it.

As for the cookers - do you need one oven or two? I rarely use the small oven on mine (except for the grill and sometimes warming plates), but when I have a houseful its invaluable (and I do have a slow cooker, microwave and an ancient hotplate too). And although the smeg only has one oven, its actually smaller because of the self-cleaning function (although that's very, very tempting :D). If you're still unsure, I suggest you go and have a look at both models and inspect them thoroughly if possible.

Personally I'd go for a Neff every time, but then mine is nearly as old as me and showing no signs of being on the way out yet...

Serena.. I'd go for the belling.. grill separate to oven is important for me.. I want to heat my toast not the entire oven!.. it also has a larger capacity oven also important for me (says the person with the belling Sandringham range cooker :) which is monstrous) The only 'plus' I can see for the smeg is it has the 'self cleaning' style oven innards.. but as you clean it regularly it is fine :p.
