    Morning all

Had a decent day at work and got finished on time :)

Miss A's team lost at water polo but she was ok with that as they 'versed' a very good team apparently. They are having matches every Fri to make up for all those they missed in December.

Off to swimming lessons in a mo, have decided not to carry on with these as they swapped lesson times around without telling us AFTER I had paid for this last lot  and then refused to give credit when we could not have got to lessons without a 2 hour walk in each direction during the snow. So last few weeks of lessons and then we get our Saturday mornings back! We will go swimming at a time that is suitable to us, and probably at the new pool not too far from here where Miss A is having her climbing party.

    Hi Lou :)
I feel exactly the same way - struggle to get things done on top of normal routine hoovering etc after work and have to try and catch up at the weekend but also like to spend some time with the family. I need to write down a plan/routine for myself I think :)
Ok must crack on while they're all still sleeping :)

Dippypud, I slept badly too - not my usual style. However this did mean I put the WM on for a second time at 3.00 am!

I did actually do some seriously lurking and skim-read through all the posts on here to try to get a better idea of how folks manage to achieve so much. Still going (((GULP))) quite a lot, but have taken on board people's comments to concentrate on my baby steps. Please don't laugh at my efforts - housework has never been a reason to encourage me to get out of bed in the morning! :embarasse

Off to view HRH's list with a view to earning my keep here.

Having said that, there is a rumour here that we are going to have a "Serious Talk About Sorting Out Downstairs" today. That means the Living Room and Dining Room and having a look at what we have now, what needs replacing, and what we can put where to make the downstairs more manageable and homely. We seiously need storage - I think an awful lot of problems in keeping our house clean and organised stem from a lack of storage - apart from the kitchen (which isn't very big and hence despite cupboarding the place out from floor to ceiling ingredients and cooking equipment still spills over into the upstairs bedroom, we have a couple of wardrobes and small drawers and then things end up in cardboard boxes, or in piles. Not good.

At least you're encouraging me to make a start. My first step is to feel that somewhere in the house, even if it is one cupboard, floor or shelf, is tidier/cleaner/more organised at the end of January than it was at the beginning. If I fail at that, someone had better rap my knuckles for me!

Oh dear, that was all a bit of OTT for a newbie!

    Morning all

Struggling to wake up properly this morning, but cuppas and breakfast decluttered, so I've got no excuse now. A couple of hours flying and a bath, then DS2 and I are off into town. There's a local history day going on and I want to call at a couple of shops, as well as the market.

A quick check on finances, then I'm off the sofa. Have a good weekend, everyone.

    Morning all,

Yesterday didn't quite go according to plan. I did a fair bit of flying, but not list stuff e.g cleaned the cupboard under the sink and NOT the pan cupboard.
I cleaned one kitchen cupboard door, but it is still sticky with grease. What's the best thing to use on wooden kitchen unit doors?
Kitchen all sparkly, and off into town soon. Haircut and roots.
    Catch you later.
    Happy flying

Mrs_B - we never, ever laugh at anyones effort, mutual support and encouragement is the point of the thread and it is all relative to what people are capable of. I hate cleaning but I also hate having a dirty house so I have posting/lurking on here since the original thread started some years ago. Up until July I pretty much kept on top of it, but since I have been ill I really struggle. Compared to what used to get done my efforts are laughable. Full points to you for using insomnia time to get on.

Skylight - Clearly a busy day, good luck with it

Penelope Penguin - Greenbee likes Broccoli, and the base was vaguely scone so technically cake :p

Pud - amazing what you can fit in a cubby! And frankly impressive just how many boxes of wine you can get in as well as six people and their luggage plus towels and bedding when you come back from France. DH is muttering about me changing car but mine is an X reg 110 with 70k on the clock - and the money I would have to put in for something a few years newer is shocking, there don't seem to be a lot of defenders about atm either and I need a 6 seater.

Need to get George to get off my knee so I can get on with something before I lock up again. Want a cup of tea but she wont let me move. How old do the boys have to be before they can make me one?

Miserable weather here again... but can't just take to my bed. Plan this weekend is:
    Saturday:
Make pheasant casserole (2 pheasants defrosted, so need to chop them up... hope they aren't too high :o); post a late christmas present (to my mother's step mother - home made chocs, so I didn't want them stuck during the snow); write thank you letters (I wait until after my birthday, it saves effort :p); fiill log baskets and coal bucket; S&S downstairs as I have a friend coming for supper; possibly make some more chocs. Trip to recycling bins. Run 2km; walk to make up to 5km.

    Sunday
Sort out shoe mountain in spare room and put back in bedroom wardrobe; demould bedroom window frame; clear up utility room; do strength finder online; plant some bulbs that should have been done in December. Trip to recycling bins. Run 2km, walk to make up to 5km.

I'll have to see how I get on... my plans don't generally work out.
  • GreenBee - have faith in yourself, you can do all of those I'm sure.

Now sort out what you will do from 10.30 and go do... I'll join you with a HHI whilst I'm stuck in here as DS is being tutored next door and I can't get out..

I need a walk later too, going to combine with several small collect from, go to post office, pick up, drop off jobs, we all need to get out and get moving!

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.
