Thanks for the reply.. Id otn mind quorn, just my OH doesnt like it. If i buy sausages from the supermarket I like the debbie and andrew (97%) meat u can get from tesco... though not found the syn values for those yet

You could easily buy & cook difference sausages for you and your OH

I always have quorn sausages & DH has whatever is in the freezer lol - more than likely whoopsied sausages that would be dreadful on the plan!:rotfl:

But i could understand if you didn't - money doesn't always stretch that far!

Fingers crossed DH eats the beef stew i have made - he doesn't seem to like the SW recipes i try - the main reason is that they taste too healthy!:rotfl:

Put it in two seperate dishes and say you made a SW one and a full fat one and we'll test and see if he notices it was "healthy" :D

I always find adding some spices can make food.. especially chilli taste great.

Totally agree! Only problem is start-up costs. I'm so used to using packet ingredients that I have almost no herbs and spices in my store cupboard, and they are really expensive if you need to buy 4 or 5 for a single recipe! I'm trying to build up one at a time, unless anyone knows where they can be bought for cheap?

    Hi Antonia :j

Only other places I can think of are wholesalers, or country specific grocers (ie indian, chinese...) ask around (friends & colleagues) as surely somebody will know where to get better and cheaper spices for you...

Don't get herbs and spices from the supermarket if you can help it they are generally very overpriced there. I always pop down to the local Indian Supermarket and this particular one stocks so much stuff also of chinese and caribbean origin. I then bought clear glass jars from ikea and store them in those (with what they are taped underneath)

100g packs of things such as cumin etc for as little as 35p and ranging to no more than 80ish p. I love going there when I go back home.

Depending on what you like to cook just get the the basics... so for me it would be cumin, paprika, chilli powder and mixed herbs... these are the ones I use by the bucket load.

    Third day on SW :)

    B - branflakes and milk (a and b HE)
L - leftover SW chips and parsnips, lean ham. Big fruit salad and mullerlight.
D - Probably Quorn sausages, mushrooms, egg and beans with salad.

Syns - nescafe mocha (4.5), two blackcurrant sweeties (3)

I know I've been told this by the SW consultant, but can I really eat all this? I'm sure my portions are too large - don't want to go to my first WI and find out I've put on!

Had my weetabix for breakfast, then was meant to drive hubby to glasgow. Left just before 10, went to his work to pick up some stuff he needed then he faffed around at work and we didnt get going til nearly half 12. Got to glasgow at about 2 and i was so hungry i had the shakes:eek: Had popped a banana and alpen light in my bag thinking i'd be back by lunchtime. DD and I went to Pizza hut as we were both hungry, so kinda ruined my well planned day! We didn't get home til about an hour ago, don't think my banana and alpen would have kept me going til then:o
Tomorrow is another day, annoyed though as i had a good day planned.
