  • Well I have done a LOT of internet surfing today! So little work to do!

Anyhow, I have resisted going on a food hunt..

    B: museli & milk (HEB&A)
    L: salad, FF dressing
D: veggie omlette (with HEA cheese), possiby with some of the SW crispy new potatoes i'll make for OH
S: banana, apple, grapes, muller light

    I'm stuffed!!

What to spend my syns on? Don't have much in at home.. i suspect eating OH's mars bars might be overkill!

I went to the gym last night to complete a fitness assessment for a mate who's a personal trainer. I do quite a lot of exercise but its very unstructured, he's going to sort me a plan. Anyway, did 22Km on bike then 400m swim (which is equiv to a triathlon race distance ive entered).

Good evening you lovely lot :D

Well done to those with losses again.. :j

Im late -again :o -but only because I have been busy :A.... I have done 2hrs " humpin n dumpin" in the basement sorting out things for the car boot *explained below* then we headed off for a 1hr trek -up LOTS of hills.. and then back and down into the basement for another 2.5hrs of a humpin and a dumpin -sooo if that hasn't burnt some wobble there will be trouble ;)
I have managed to book a table for a car boot in May -its run by the RBL - and it sounds like its open to the German locals as well as squaddies...so Im planning on going through all my cookery mags and transfering what I want on to the PC and then I can get rid of them all (hopefully)-along with a lot of the mannnnny cookery books I have accumulated over the years (over 100redface.gif) ... apparently the locals love our cookery things cross.gif -stuff like that can be so expensive out here... so thats why I have been fettling.... lets see how much I can raise towards my sponsorship ..... . I also have made loads of those dangles (about 150 so far, and book marks and some earrings) -so even if I can sell those at about €2-€3 each I will be thrilled cross.gif

Anyhoo -my success express meal plan for today looks like this:-
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • grapefruit ss
    • salmon fillet
    • tickled cabbage sf
    • tickled beetroot sf
    • tomato sf
    • cucumber sf
    • frozen tropicl fruit/cherries sf
    • Jacket potato
    • cottage cheese
    • lettuce sf
    • cucumber sf
    • tomato sf
    • pepper sf
    • onion sf
    • tickled beetroot sf
    • tickled cabbage sf
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • fibre plus (B)
    • pineapple sf
    • activia (2.5)
well I make that 2A+1B and 2.5syns not sure how I will get the other heB in mind ...which takes my weekly syn total so far to 12.5/70 with only 3 days to go confused.gif -although I still have my avocado to eat biggrin.gif -that will deal with another 15-ish happy036.gif. Hubby keeps on requesting jacket potato, cottage cheese n salad for dinner :p ... which I do LOVE, but tomorrow I WILL make something else .... Im thinking bacon, mushroom and garlic red wine sauce to go on pasta mmmmmmmm ... (bet when I eat it, I still wish I had done jackets n cottage :rotfl:)
Anyhoo -enough waffle from me again...see you all in the morning
    -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.5

thanks susie, wrapped up in my duvet, jammies and a hoodie. really need to be better for tomorrow so sweating it out (sorry... TMI!!)

that's why i've always loved SW - emphasis on fresh, home cooked food. i rarely use my microwave, OH uses it for his micro popcorn and that's it!! i don't know enough about other diets but would hate to think people (a small number of people) following WW would have 'ding' food for the majority of the day, keeping within their 'point' allowance and then still feeling hungry. i know they were showing it to the extreme but still - yuk!!

Oi don't badmouth ding food! I binned my fullsize stove 20 years ago and cook just about everything in my darling Mike. HOWEVER I don't ever use ready made packet food (oooh though I did use to adore Mr Dave's frozen curries can't get 'em any more) I cook from scratch. Just making a SW quiche at the mo. What scares me is people wanting to know the syns in a packet of pasta and sauce - when you can use fresh pasta and home made sauce for FREE and for lower cost and faster! :rotfl:

question - how many eggs are you 'allowed' to eat during a day/week? i ask because i had 2 yesterday and 2 today and i know they're quite high in cholesterol...
saved this ... but it's been answered!
Does anyone know the cheapest way to get hold of the current free food, super-free listings etc. I see some for sale on ebay but people are charging quite a lot just for a PDF document!!
Cheapest way is to go to a class, even if you just go once. Also you will get the full, up to date info on SW. I'd say half the regulars on this thread, maybe more, are proper members either in a class or online. You can often get a special joining offer from Bella or similar magazines, someone will know :) And PDF documents being offered on ebay are probably flouting copyright laws too

Yay another 2.5lb off for me !!! I got SOM as well so I'm pretty chuffed with my not so little self :j

Off out for a meal tomorrow night (DH birthday) but shouldn't be too bad, dessert will be a bit of a dilemma though, shall I or shan't I? Tis a set menu so it's included in the cost. Maybe I'll just eat half of it ??

    Food today - Green

    B - 2 weetabix (HEB1), Milk (HEA1), Banana
L - Quorn fillet, 57g wholemeal roll (HEB2), 2 babybell light (HEA2), salad, pear, satsuma
D - Quorn lasagne (7 syns for h/m white sauce and cheese???) Not much on there so a bit of a guesstimate there, plums,

    Snacks - Activia FF

Not many veggies today but I've been rushing around with the kids most of the day.

It's not so much the calories, but it's what I've been eating. Syn wise it would be well over 40 syns a day I expect.

What you said about 1200 being the minimum is part of the reason that I check the calories of what I eat now too. I had a couple of SW weeks where I was being really really good but only lost 0.5lbs 2 weeks in a row. When I calculated my calories I was eating about 700!! I was eating lots of superfree and I was full but it just wasn't enough calories.

Now I plan my meals the SW way, and I also calorie count them to make sure I get up near 1200. For example on a day where I only have 700 calories for my meals and my typical treat of a doughnut is 14 syns but it's only 250 calories I may have some extra syns.

IMO you're either Food Optimising or calorie counting - there's absolutely no need to do both.

If you follow the spirit of FO properly - varying your foods and eating for health (which are the basics of SW plans) you WILL lose weight.

Honestly I think you're making it far more complicated than it needs to be :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Mike - that's brilliant. :rotfl: you know what i mean though. :) do you do your quiche in Mike? if it makes SW quiche making quicker than oven bake then i'm all ears. might make my Mike do more than just micro popcorn. :rotfl:

    Hi All,

A little bit confused by SW and it's take on Lamb mince as i have just found this from the SW site

'Shepherd’s pie - add Quorn or lean lamb mince to the tomato sauce then top with mashed potato for a quick and easy Shepherd’s pie.'

No mention of it having any syn value!

Then i typed in lamb mince into the syns online and found this

Lamb, mince, less than 16% fat , 28g raw ½syn red/EE 2½syn green
    Lamb, mince, more than 16% fat , 28g raw 1½syn red/EE 3½syn green

Then i typed in lamb and found

Lamb, average of all cuts, lean only, 28g raw Free red/EE 2syn green
Lamb, average of all cuts, lean only, roasted without fat, 28g Free red/EE 3syn green

So i am confused - can i have lean lamb mince for free? Or do i have to measure & count it as syns?

    QUOTE]

Depends which plan you're using the lamb on. If you're following the Original (red) plan or EE then the mince is free. If you're following the Green plan and have used your HEBs then there is a syn value for any extra meat you have.

    Hope that helps :)

    SW quiche in Mike:

steamed new pots in skins (cut into all approx same size) in little water and sprinkling of Aromat = 4 mins - then roughly mashed with butter bud sachet

one whole onion sliced and "dry fried" (actually I used worcester sauce and a splash of the potato liquid) and some herbs = 10 min half power, faster if full power, until softened and smelling lovely
meanwhile slice some mushrooms and chop some smoked bacon, grate some real cheese (weigh it to assess HE or syns when portioning out finished product). Whisk up 2 eggs (it would have taken one or two more eggs but I like more filling than egg in mine) and spray your flan dish. This is done while onions are cooking and you have time for a game of solitaire on pc as well

Add mushrooms and bacon to onions, stir about and heat for 1 min on high. Tip into flan dish, top with eggs, then with cheese.

cook for 4 min on medium heat in Mike. Voila.

20 mins. If you did fewer onions in a shorter time, which is easily possible but I wanted them melted, you could do it in 15 mins. Most of my meals take approx 15 mins beginning to end :D

sorry I'm not good at writing out recipes because I am of the "chuck it in" school of cookery.
